The vehicle security systemprovides visualand
audio alarmsignals ifsomeone opensthedoors,
or lift gate when thesystem isarmed. Itis not,
however, amotion detection typesystem that
activates whenavehicle ismoved orwhen a
vibration occurs.
The system helpsdetervehicle theftbutcannot prevent
it,nor can itprevent thetheft ofinterior
or exterior vehiclecomponents inall situations.
Always secureyourvehicle evenifparking fora
brief period. Neverleaveyourkeys inthe vehicle,
and always lockitwhen unattended. Beaware
of your surroundings, andpark insecure, well-lit
areas whenever possible.
Many devices offeringadditional protection,
such ascomponent locks,identification markers,
and tracking systems, areavailable atauto

. The Intelligent Keytransmits radio
waves whenthebuttons are
pushed. TheFAAadvises thatthe
radio waves mayaffect aircraft na-
vigation andcommunication sys-
tems. Donot operate the
Intelligent Keywhile onanairplane.
Make surethebuttons arenot
operated unintentionally whenthe
unit isstored during aflight.
CAUTION
. Do not allow theIntelligent Key,
which contains electrical compo-
nents, tocome intocontact with
water orsalt water. Thiscould affect the
system function.
. Do not drop theIntelligent Key.
. Do not strike theIntelligent Key
sharply against another object.
. Do not change ormodify theIntel-
ligent Key.
. Wetting maydamage theIntelligent
Key. Ifthe Intelligent Keygets wet,
immediately wipeuntilitis comple-
tely dry.
. Ifthe outside temperature isbelow
148F (-108C) degrees, thebattery of
the intelligent keymay notfunction
properly.
. Do not place theIntelligent Keyfor
an extended periodinan area where
temperatures exceed1408F(608C).
. Do not attach theIntelligent Key
with akey holder thatcontains a
magnet.
. Donot place theIntelligent Keynear
equipment thatproduces amag-
netic field, suchasaTV,audio
equipment, personalcomputers or
cellular phone.
The remote keyless entryfunction canoperate
all door locks using theremote keyless entry function
ofthe Intelligent Key .The remote
keyless entryfunction canoperate atadistance
of approximately 33ft(10 m)from thevehicle.
(The operating distancedepends uponthe
conditions aroundthevehicle.)
The remote keyless entryfunction willnot
operate:
. When theIntelligent Key isnot within the
operational range.
. When thedoors areopen ornot closed
securely .
. When theIntelligent Key battery isdis-
charged.
The remote keyless entryfunction canalso
operate thevehicle alarm.
