CHILD RESTRAINT INSTALLATION USING
ISOFIX
WARNING:
.Attach ISOFIX child restraints only at the
specified locations. For the ISOFIX lower
anchor locations, see “ISOFIX child restraint
system” (P.1-17) . If a child restraint is not
secured properly, your child could be ser-
iously injured or killed in an accident.
. Do not install child restraints that require the
use of a top tether strap to seating positions
that do not have a top tether anchor.
. Do not secure a child restraint in the center
rear seating position using the ISOFIX lower
anchors. The child restraint will not be
secured properly.
. Inspect the lower anchors by inserting your
fingers into the lower anchor area and
feeling to make sure there are no obstruc-
tions over the ISOFIX anchors, such as seat
belt webbing or seat cushion material. The
child restraint will not be secured properly if
the ISOFIX anchors are obstructed.
. Child restraint anchorages are designed to
withstand only those loads imposed by
correctly fitted child restraints. Under no
circumstance are they to be used for adult
seat belts, harnesses or for attaching other
items or equipment to the vehicle. Doing so
could damage the child restraint an-
chorages. The child restraint will not be
properly installed using the damaged an-
chorage, and a child could be seriously
injured or killed in a collision.

Front-facing:
Be \fure to follow the manufacturer’\f \bn\ftruct\bon\f for
the proper u\fe of your ch\bld re\ftra\bnt. Follow the\fe
\ftep\f to \bn\ftall a front-fac\bng ch\bld re\ftra\bnt on the rear
outboard \feat\f u\f\bng ISOFIX:

2. Secure the ch\bld re\ftra\bnt anchor attachment\f to the ISOFIX lower anchor\f

3. The back of the ch\bld re\ftra\bnt \fhould be \fecured aga\bn\ft the veh\bcle \feat back. If nece\f\fary, adju\ft
or remove the head re\ftra\bnt to obta\bn the correct
ch\bld re\ftra\bnt f\bt. (See “Head re\ftra\bnt\f” (P.1-5) .) If
the head re\ftra\bnt \b\f removed, \ftore \bt \bn a \fecure
place. Be \fure to \bn\ftall the head re\ftra\bnt when
the ch\bld re\ftra\bnt \b\f removed. If the \feat\bng
po\f\bt\bon doe\f not have an adju\ftable head
re\ftra\bnt and \bt \b\f \bnterfer\bng w\bth the proper ch\bld
re\ftra\bnt f\bt, try another \feat\bng po\f\bt\bon or a
d\bfferent ch\bld re\ftra\bnt.

6. If the ch\bld re\ftra\bnt \b\f equ\bpped w\bth other ant\b- rotat\bon dev\bce\f \fuch a\f \fupport leg\f, u\fe them

.The three-point type seat belt on your
vehicle is not equipped with an automatic
locking mode retractor.
. The direction of the child restraint system
depends on the type of the child restraint
system and the size of the child.

not\b th\b fo\f\fowing:
. Attach the child restraints after adjusting the
rear seats to the upright position.
. Do not recline the rear seats with the child
restraints attached to them.

2. Route the seat belt tongue th\fough the child \fest\faint system and inse\ft it into the buckle until
you hea\f and feel the latch engage.

.Never install a rear-facing child restraint on
the front passenger’s seat when the front
passenger’s air bag is equipped. Supple-
mental front-impact air bags inflate with
great force. A rear-facing child restraint
could be struck by the supplemental front-
impact air bags in an accident and could
seriously injure or kill your child.
. Never install a child restraint system with a
top tether strap on the front seat.
. RENAULT recommends that a child restraint
system be installed on the rear seat. How-
ever, if you must install a front-facing child
restraint system on the front passenger’s
seat, move the passenger’ s seat to the
rearmost position.
. Child restraints for infants must be used in
the rear-facing direction and therefore must
not be used on the front passenger’s seat
when the front passenger’ s air bag isequipped.

to, or ar\b again\ft, th\b air bag modul\b\f during inflation.
Th\b air bag\f will d\bflat\b quickly aft\br d\bploym\bnt.
The SRS operates only when the ignition switch
is in the
“ON”or“START” position.
When the ignition switch is in the “ON”position,
the SRS air bag warning light illuminates for
about 7 seconds and then turns off. This
indicates that the SRS is operational. (See
“SRS air bag warning light” (P.1-28) .)

severity frontal collision. Always wear the
seat belts to help reduce the risk or severity
of injury in accidents.
. The seat belts and the supplemental front-
impact air bags are most effective when you
are sitting well back and upright in the seat.
The front-impact air bags inflate with great
force. If you are unrestrained, leaning for- ward, sitting sideways, or out of position in
any way, you are at greater risk of injury or
death in an accident. You may also receive
serious or fatal injuries from the supple-
mental front-impact air bag if you are up
against it when it inflates. Always sit back
against the seatback and as far away as
practical from the steering wheel. Always
use the seat belts.

supplemental curtain side-impact air bags

onto the seatback of the front seats. If the
supplemental side-impact air bags and sup-
plemental curtain side-impact air bags in-
flate, you may be seriously injured. Be
especially careful with children, who should always be properly restrained.
. Do not use seat covers on the front seat-
backs. They may interfere with the supple-
mental side-impact air bag inflations.
Pre-tensioner seat belt system (if e\fuipped\b
The pre-tensioner seat belt system may activate with
the supplemental air bag system in certain types of
collisions.
Working with the seat belt retractor and anchor, it
helps tighten the seat belt the instant the vehicle
becomes involved in certain types of collisions, helping
to restrain front seat occupants. (See “Pre-tensioner
seat belt system” (P.1-31\b .\b

This label warns you not to fit a rear-facing child
restraint system on the front passenger seat as such a
restraint system used in this position could cause
serious injury to the infant in case of air bag
deployment during a collision.
In vehicles e\fuipped with a front-impact passenger air
bag system, use a rear-facing child restraint system
only on the rear seats. “Extreme Hazard! Do not use a
rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by
an airbag in front of it!"
When installing a child restraint system in your vehicle,
always follow the child restraint system manufacturer’s
instructions for installation.
