9. Rear LH Door:
INSPECT DOOR LOCK MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that
the door lock link moves to UNLOCK position.
(b) Reverse the polarity and check that the door lock link
moves to LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
10. Rear RH door:
INSPECT DOOR LOCK MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
4 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5, and check that
the door lock link moves to UNLOCK position.
(b) Reverse the polarity and check that the door lock link
moves to LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
11. Using an ammeter:
INSPECT DRIVER'S DOOR PTC THERMISTOR OP-
ERATION
(a) Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal
2.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to termi-
nal 1 and the negative (-) lead to battery positive (+) termi-
nal, and check that the current changes from approxi-
mately 3.2 A to less than 0.5 A within 20 to 70 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the leads from terminals.
(d) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+)
lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-)
lead to terminal 1, and check that the door lock moves to
the LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
12. Using an ammeter:
INSPECT PASSENGER'S DOOR PTC THERMISTOR
OPERATION
(a) Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal
6.
(b) Connect the negative (-) lead from the ammeter to termi-
nal 5 and the positive (+) lead to battery positive (+) termi-
nal, and check that the current changes from approxi-
mately 3.2 A to less than 0.5 A within 20 to 70 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the leads from terminals.
(d) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+)
lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-)
lead to terminal 5, and check that the door lock moves to
the LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
13. Using an ammeter:
INSPECT REAR LH DOOR PTC THERMISTOR OP-
ERATION
(a) Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal
2.
(b) Connect the negative (-) lead from the ammeter to termi-
nal 1 and the positive (+) lead to battery positive (+) termi-
nal, and check that the current changes from approxi-
mately 3.2 A to less than 0.5 A within 20 to 70 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the leads from terminals.
(d) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+)

14. Using an ammeter:
INSPECT REAR RH PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal
4.
(b) Connect the negative (-) lead from the ammeter to termi-
nal 3 and the positive (+) lead to battery positive (+) termi-
nal, and check that the current changes from approxi-
mately 3.2 A to less than 0.5 A within 20 to 70 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the leads from terminals.
(d) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+)
lead from the battery to terminal 4 and the negative (-)
lead to terminal 3, and check that the door lock moves to
the LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
15. Using an ammeter with a current-measuring probe:
INSPECT DRIVER'S DOOR PTC THERMISTOR OP-
ERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
(b) Attach a current-measuring probe to either the positive
(+) lead or the negative (-) lead, and check that the cur-
rent changes from approximately 3.2 A to less than 0.5 A
within 20 to 70 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the leads from terminals.
(d) Approximately 60 seconds later, reverse the polarity, and
check that the door lock moves to the LOCK position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
16. Using an ammeter with a current-measuring probe:

(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal

5. INSPECT MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUIT
Disconnect the connector from the switch and inspect the con-
nector on the wire harness side.

If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected
to other parts.
6. INSPECT MIRROR SWITCH INDICATOR LIGHT OP-
ERATION
Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and
the negative (-) lead to terminal 6, and check that the indicator
light does not light up, replace the switch.
7. w/o Mirror defogger and driving position memory:
INSPECT MIRROR MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that
the mirror turns to the left side.
(b) Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns to the
right side.

(d) Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns
downward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.
8. w/ Mirror Defogger:
INSPECT MIRROR MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that
the mirror turns to the left side.
(b) Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns
downward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
4 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that
the mirror turns upward.

(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that
the mirror turns to the left side.
(b) Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns
downward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal
2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, and check that
the mirror turns upward.
(d) Reverse the polarity, and check that the mirror turns
downward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

10. w/ Driving position memory:
INSPECT MIRROR POSITION SENSORS OPERATION
HINT:
Strip off the vinyl tape of the connector and remove terminals
2, 3, 6, 7 and 9 from the connector housing.
(a) Connect a series of three 1.5 V dry cell batteries.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the dry cell batteries to
terminal 7 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to termi-
nal 9 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6.
(d) Apply Battery voltage to terminals 2 and 3, then check
that the voltage gradually changes according to the table
below while the mirror moves between the uppermost
position and lowermost position.

If voltage value is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.
(e) Disconnect the 4 leads of the battery and voltmeter.
(f) Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to termi-
nal 8 and negative (-) lead to terminal 6.
(g) Apply Battery voltage to terminals 2 and 1, then inspect
that the voltage gradually changes according to the table
below while the mirror moves between the left-most posi-
tion and right-most position.
