3. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
NOTICE: Immediately wipe off spilled fuel
with a clean, dry, soft cloth, since fuel may
deteriorate painted surfaces or plastic
parts.

4. Turn the fuel tank cap fully clockwise to make sure it is securely closed.EBU38022FuelMake sure there is sufficient gasoline in the tank
before starting off. Refuel if necessary.
WARNING
EWB02532Gasoline is poisonous and can cause injury or
death. Handle gasoline with care. Never siphon
gasoline by mouth. If you should swallow some
gasoline or inhale a lot of gasoline vapor, or get
some gasoline in your eyes, see your doctor
immediately. If gasoline spills on your skin,
wash with soap and water. If gasoline spills on
your clothing, change your clothes.
For EuropeTIPConfirm the gasoline pump nozzle has the same
fuel identification mark. Recommended fuel:Regular unleaded gasoline only
Fuel tank capacity: 18 L (4.8 US gal, 4.0 Imp.gal)

4About the recommended fuel
If knocking or pinging occurs, try a different brand
or higher octane gasoline.
For Europe, use RON 95 octane or higher.
For Oceania, use RON 91 octane or higher.
TIPGasoline containing ethanol can be used if the
ethanol content does not exceed 5% (E5) or 10%
(E10). Gasoline containing methanol is not recom-
mended because it can cause damage to the fuel
system or vehicle performance problems. NOTICEECB00071Use only unleaded gasoline. The use of leaded
gasoline will cause severe damage to internal
engine parts, such as the valves and piston
rings, as well as to the exhaust system.

To install the seat
Insert the projections on the front of the seat into
the seat holders, and then push down on the seat
at the rear to lock it in place. Make sure that the
seat is securely fitted.
EBU34682Storage compartmentsThis ATV is equipped with three storage compart-
ments.
NOTICEECB00831Do not store metal or sharply edged objects,
like tools, in the storage compartments. If they
must be stored, wrap them in appropriate
cushion material to prevent damaging the stor-
age compartments. The front storage compartment is located at the
front right side of the ATV. To access the storage
compartment, remove the storage compartment
cover by turning it counterclockwise.

The rear storage compartment is located under
the taillight. To access the storage compartment,
open the storage compartment lid by turning the
storage compartment knob 1/4 turn counterclock-
wise.
When storing any documents in the storage com-
partments, be sure to wrap them in a plastic bag
so that they will not get wet. When washing the
ATV, be careful not to let any water enter the stor-
age compartments.
Do not exceed the load limit of 0.5 kg (1 lb) for
the front storage compartment, 4.0 kg (9 lb) for
the center storage compartment or 2.0 kg (4 lb)
for the rear storage compartment.
 Do not exceed the maximum load of 240.0 kg
(530 lb) for the ATV.

WARNING
EWB00401Always adjust the shock absorber assemblies
on the left and right side to the same setting.
Uneven adjustment can cause poor handling
and loss of stability, which could lead to an ac-
cident. Adjust the spring preload as follows. Turn the spring preload adjusting ring in direction
(a) to increase the spring preload and thereby
harden the suspension, and in direction (b) to de-
crease the spring preload and thereby soften the
suspension.
Align the appropriate notch in the adjusting ring
with the position indicator on the shock absorber.
TIPA special wrench can be obtained at a Yamaha

TIPWhen using a winch or other electrical accesso-
ries, the power taken from the DC jack must be re-
duced accordingly. A 12-V accessory, such as a work light or radio
with the proper adapter, can be used when the
main switch is turned on. However, to prevent bat-
tery drain, use when the engine is running and the
headlights are turned off.1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the headlights off.
3. Turn the accessory off.
4. Open the auxiliary DC jack cap.
5. Insert the accessory power plug into the jack.
6. Turn the accessory on.TIP When inserting or removing the accessory pow-
er plug, turn the accessory off.
 When the auxiliary DC jack is not being used,
cover it with the cap.
NOTICEECB00122If accessories are used with the engine off or
with the headlights on, the battery may dis-
charge to the point that the engine will not
start.
 Do not use an automotive cigarette lighter or
other accessory with a plug that gets hot.
The DC jack may be damaged.
