If you lock the vehicle using the power lock ing switch , please note
t he f ollowing :
• If a door is open, the vehicle cannot be locked using the power
l o cki ng sy ste m sw itch .
• You cannot open the doors or the rear lid from the
outside
(inc reas ed secu rity, for exa mple when yo u are stop ped a t a red
light!. • T
he diodes in the power locking swi tch illuminate when a ll the
door s ar e close d and l ock ed .
• Y ou can unlock and open the doors from the inside by pull ing on
t h e do or handle.
• I f you have a crash and the airbag is activated, the doors auto ­
m ati cal ly unl ock .
& WARNING
• The power lock ing switch works with the ignition off and auto ­
matically locks the entire vehicle when it is actuated.
• On a vehicle locked from the outside the power locking system
switch is inoperative .
• Locking doors from the inside can help prevent inadvertent
door opening during an accident and can also prevent unwanted
entry from the outside . Locked doors can , however , delay assis­
tance to vehicle o ccupants and hold up rescue efforts from the
outside in an accident or other emergency .

Opening and closing
& WARNING
• After closing the rear lid, always pull up on it to make sure that
it is properly closed. Otherwise it could open suddenly when the
vehicle is moving .
• To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas from being drawn into
the vehicle, always keep the rear lid closed while driving . Never
transport objects larger than those which fit completely into the
luggage area, because then the rear lid cannot be fully closed.
• Never leave your vehicle unattended especially with the rear lid
left open. A child could crawl into the car through the luggage
compartment and pull the lid shut, becoming trapped and unable
to get out. To reduce the risk of personal injury, never let children
play in or around your vehicle. Always keep the rear lid as well as
the vehicle doors closed when not in use.
• Always ensure that no one is within range of the rear lid when
it is moving, in particular close to the hinges -fingers or hands can
be pinched .

• When the vehicle is locked, the rear lid can be opened separately
by pressing the button
cs on the master key. When you close the
rear lid again, it locks automatically.
• If the rear lid is open or not properly closed when the ignition is
turned on, the door and rear lid warning=>
page 21 appears in the
instrument cluster display. •
Power windows
Controls
The driver can operate the window regulator for the
driver's door with the left switch and the window regu­
lator for the passenger's door with the right switch.

If the respective switch is pushed or pulled the window will
open or close. The power window switches have a
two-posi ­
tion function:
Opening the windows
- Push the switch to the first stop and hold it there until the
window has lowered to the desired position.
- Push the switch briefly to the
second stop: the window
will automatically open all the way.
Closing the windows
- Pull the switch up to the first stop and hold it there until
the window has risen to the desired position.
- Pull the switch quickly to the
second position: the
w indow will automatically close all the way. .,

& WARNING
• Do not leave children unattended in the vehicle, especially with
access to vehicle keys. Unsupervised use of the keys can result in
starting of the engine and use of vehicle systems such as power
windows, etc. which could result in serious injury.
• Remember -you can still open or close the power windows for
about ten minutes after the ignition is switched off. Only when
either of the doors are opened are the power windows switched
off.
• Be careful when closing the windows . Check to see that no one
is in the way, or serious injury could result!
• Always remove the ignition key whenever you leave your
vehicle.
• If you lock your vehicle from the outside, no one, especially chil­
dren, should remain in the vehicle.
• Do not stick anything on the windows or the windshield that
may interfere with the driver's field of vision.

• When you open the doors, the windows automatically lower
about 10 mm .
• Afte r the ignition has been switched off , the windows can still be
opened or closed for about 10 minutes . The window regulators are
not switched until the driver's or passenger 's door is opened. •

opened and closed with the mechanical key or the emer­
gency key.

• Never close the windows and thepanoramic tilting sunroof
inattentively and without checking -there is risk of injury.
• You must always watch when the windows are being raised so
that no one can be trapped. If you release the key, the closing
action is immediately canceled.

Correcting window regulator malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the one-touch up
and down feature must be activated again.
- Pull and hold the power window switch until the window
is completely closed.
- Release the switch.
- Pull the switch again for one second. The automatic closing/opening is now reactivated. •
Valet parking
Through the "valet parking" feature the luggage compart­
ment of your vehicle is secured from unauthorized access
during the valet parking service.

With "valet parking" activated, the rear lid cannot be
opened.
- Take the mechanical key out of the master key=>
page 40.
- Open the glove box=> page 89 and activate => fig. 47 the
"valet parking" feature by pressing the [VALET] button.
The indicator light in t he switch illuminates.
- Close the glove box and lock it with the mechanical key.
- Lock both rear seat backs with the mechanical key
=> page 82.
-Lock the luggage compartment pass -through with the
mechanical key=>
page 82.
-Leave the master key with the service personnel for
parking and keep the mechanical key with you.
When the "valet parking" feature is activated:

• the unlocking button for the rear lid~ in the driver's door is
inactive
• the button
~ on the master key is inactive
• the opening hand le in the rear lid is inactive.
T he vehic le can be driven and locked and unlocked with the master
key. Access to the luggage compartment is blocked. •

To tilt the panoramic t ilting sunroof, press the switc h

To close the panoramic tilting sunroof, pu ll the sw itch

To set an intermediate position, press/pull the switch until the roof reaches the desired position.
After the ignition is switched off, you can sti ll operate the Panorama
for about 10 minutes . As soon as the driver's or passenger's door is
opened, the switch is inoperative.

Pay careful attention when clo sing the panoramic tilting sunroof -
other wise seriou s injury could re sult! For t his r easo n, a lwa ys
remove the ignition key when leaving the vehi cle.
• Never le ave children or per sons requiring a ssist ance alone in
the v ehicle , e spe cially when they cou ld acce ss the vehi cle ke ys.

Always close your panoramic tilting sunroof when leaving your
vehicle . Sudden rain can cause damage to the interior equipment of
your vehicle, particularly the electronic equipment.

Clear vision
& WARNING
Automatic headlights are only intended to assist the driver. They do not relieve the driver of his responsibility to check the head­
lights and to turn them on manually according to the current light
and visibility conditions. For example, fog cannot be detected by
the light sensors. So always switch on the headlights under these
weather conditions and when driving in the dark
tD .
[ i ) Tips
• The light sensor* for headlight control is located in the rear view
mirror mount. You should therefore not apply any stickers to the
windshield in this area in order to prevent malfunctions or failures.
• The sensitivity level for the light sensor* set at the factory can be
changed in the MMI* menu ~
page 55 in the automatic driving
lights function.
• When you remove your key from the ignition while the vehicle's
lights are turned on, a buzzer sounds as long as the driver's door is
open.
• Please obey all laws when using the lighting systems described
here.
• The coming home/leaving home function* is available only with
the switch in the AUTO position. •

Fog lights
The side marker lights or low beams must be switched on. When the
fog lights are switched on, the green check light at the edge of the
switch comes on.
If automatic driving light control AUTO is activated, the low beams
are switched on when the fog lights are turned on.
Rear fog lights
Low beams or side marker lights with fog lights must be turned on.
When the rear fog lights are turned on, the yellow check light at the
edge of the switch comes on.

The rear fog lights should only be turned on in accordance with
traffic regulation, as the lights are bright for following traffic. •

Adjusting exterior lighting
The functions are selected in the radio or MM/*.

Coming home*
The coming home function ensures that after
turning off the igni ­
tion and opening the driver's door
the vehicle periphery is illumi ­
nated in the dark. In addition, the front fog lights, the tail lights and
the license plate light are turned on. The power-on time can be set
for a period from
O (off) to 30 or 60 seconds.
Leaving home*
The leaving home functions ensures that
when unlocking, the
vehicle periphery is illuminated in the dark. In addition, the front fog
lights, the tail lights and the license plate light are turned on. This
function can be turned on and off.
Auto headlights*
When the light switch is in the AUTO~
page 53 position, the switch­
on point of the lights can be changed in the automatic driving light
function.

Daytime running lights
The daytime running lights can be turned on or off using this func ­
tion. If the function is active, the daytime running lights are turned
on automatically when the ignition is switched on.
[ i] Tips
The coming home/leaving home function * is available only with the
switch in the AUTO position . •
Daytime running lights
When you turn on the ignition the daytime running lights
will come on automatically .
USA models
The daytime running lights are activated when the light switch
~ page 53, fig. 51 is in the O position or the AUTO position (only in
daylight conditions). The daytime running lights function can be
turned on and off in the radio or
MMI* menu Exterior lighting
~ page 55.
Canada models
The daytime running lights are activated when the light switch
~ page 53, fig. 51 is in the O position, ooo: position or the AUTO posi­
tion (only in daylight conditions). The daytime running lights func­
tion cannot be turned off.
& WARNING
Never use daytime running lights to see where you are going. They
are not bright enough and will not let you see far enough ahead for
safety, especially at dusk or when it is dark. Be aware of changes
in outside light conditions when you are driving and respond by
switching on your low beams

are driving. Respond in time to fading daylight by turning the light
switch to position
gO (or "AUTO") to turn on your headlights. •
Instrument lighting
The basic brightness of the illumination for the instru ­
ments, the center console and the display can be
adjusted.
Press the knob to release it.

- Rotating the knob to the right"+" will increase the basic
brightness when it is dark.
Rotating the knob to the left" -" will decrease the basic
brightness when it is dark.
- Pressing the knob will prevent unintentiona l changes.

The instrument cluster and center console illumination (gauges and
needles) comes on when you switch on the ignition and the
vehicle headlights are off
.
Be aware of the following difference between
models built to US or Canadian specifications:
• USA models: illumination of the instrument cluster (gauges and
needles), dash and center console around the gearshift lever is
controlled by a light sensor located in the instrument panel. The
instrument panel illumination will automatically become dimmer
as the daylight fades away and eventually will go out completely
when outside light is very low. This is to remind you, the driver, to
switch on the headlights before it gets too dark.
• Canada models: instrument panel illumination will stay bright
regardless of the intensity of ambient light . Always be aware of
changes in outside light conditions while you are driving. Respond
in time to fading daylight by turning the light switch to position
gD
(or "AUTO" if your car is equipped with this feature) to turn on your
headlights. •
Applies to vehicles : w ith xenon head ligh ts
Xenon headlights
After starting the engine, the xenon headlights are automatically
adjusted to the load and angle of the vehicle (for example, during
acceleration and braking!. This prevents oncoming traffic from
experiencing unnecessary headlight glare from your xenon head­
lights.
If the system is not operating properly, a warning symbol in the
Auto-Check Control is displayed

• Pressing the button l~•~ l seve ral times consecutively can tr igger
the over load protection . The sun shade can only be
extended/re tracted again af ter a brief waiting period.
• The rea r window sun shade only functions when the vehicle inte ­
rio r is wa rmer than 23°F (-5°Cl. •

G) -Interva l mode. To extend/shorten the wiper inte rvals, move the
sw itc h @ to the lef t/right. In vehic les wi th a rain sensor*, the w ind­
shield wipers are activated automatically starting at a speed of
2 mph (4 km/h). The higher the sensitivity of t he rain senso r* is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the windshield wipers react to
moisture on the windshie ld.

© -C lean the windshie ld. To eliminate wate r droplets, the wind­
shie ld wiper performs one afterwipe operation after several
seconds whi le d riving. You can switch this function off by moving
the lever to pos ition © within 10 seconds o f the afterwipe opera ­
tion. The afterwipe function is reactivated the next time the ignition
is sw itched on.
Cleaning the headlights *. The headlight washer system * only func ­
tions when the light is switched on . The headlights are automati ­
ca lly c leaned the first time and every fifth time the lever is moved to
pos ition
® · They are also cleaned every time you hold the lever in
pos ition © for longer than 2 seconds.
& WARNING
• The rain sen sor is only intended to a ssi st the driver . The driver
is still responsible for manually swit ching the wiper s on according
to the visibility conditions .
• The windshield may not be treated with water -repelling wind ­
s hield coating agents . Unfavorab le conditions , such as wetnes s,
darkness , low sun , can result in increased glare . Wiper bl ade
c hatter is also po ssible .
• Properly functioning windshield w iper blades are required for a
clear view and safe driving

• I n the case of frost, check whether the windshie ld wiper blades
are frozen to the windshield . Switching on the windshield wipers
ca n damage the wiper b lades !
• P rior to using a car wash, the windshield wiper system must be
switched off (lever in posi tion 0). This prevents un intentiona l
switching on and damage to the windshield wiper system. .,.

twice a year. See your authori zed Audi dealer for replacem ent

• The windshield wiper blades must only be replaced when in the

page 62! Otherwise, you risk damaging the paint
on the hood or the windshie ld w iper motor.
• To prevent damage to the wiper system, always loosen blades
which are frozen to the windshield before operating wipers .
• To prevent damage to wiper blades, do not use gasoline, kero­
sene , paint thinner, or o ther so lven ts on or near the wiper blades.
• To prevent damage to the wiper arms or other components, do
not attempt to move the wipers by hand .
