the way to the right (right door) or left (left
door).
Once the front passenger's door/rear doo rs close,
it is no longer possible to open them from the
outside . The door can be opened from the inside
by pulling the door handle. If the child safety
lock in one of the rear doors is activated, you
must first pull the door handle from the ins ide.
Then you can open the door from the outside.

Anti-theft alarm system
If the anti-theft alarm system detects a vehicle
break-in, audio and v is u al warning signals are
tr iggered. The anti-theft a larm system is activat­
ed when the vehicle is locked as usual.
It
switches off when the vehicle is unlocked.
If the a larm is triggered, it w ill shut
off automat ­
ically after a ce rtain amount of time . Switch the
ignition on or press
the ~ button on the remote
control key to turn
off the alarm.

A WARNING
- After closing the luggage compartment lid,
make sure that it is latched . Otherwise the
luggage compartment lid could open sud­
denly when driv ing, which increases the risk
of an acc ident.
- Never drive with the luggage compartment
lid ajar or open, because poisonous gases
can enter the vehicle interior and create the
risk of asphyx iation.
- Never leave your veh icle unattended when
the luggage compartment l id is open. A
child cou ld climb into the vehicle through
the l uggage compa rtment. If the l uggage
compa rtment lid was then closed, the child
wou ld be trapped in the veh icle and un ab le
to escape . To reduce the risk of inj ury, do
not a llow children to play in or around the

- Never leave your vehicle unattended espe­
cially with the luggage compartment lid left
open . A child could crawl into the car
through the luggage compartment and pull
the lid shut, becoming trapped and unable
to get out . To reduce the risk of personal in­
jury, never let children p lay in or around
you r vehicle . A lways keep the luggage com­
partmen t lid as well as the vehicle doo rs
closed when not in use.
- Never close the l uggage compartment lid
ina ttentively or without checking first . Al­
though the closing force of the l uggage
compartment lid is limited, you can still se­
riously injure yourself or others.
- Always ensure that no one is within range of
the luggage compartment lid when it is
moving, in particular close to the hinges and
the upper and lower edges
-fingers or
hands can be pinched.
- Never try to interfere w ith the luggage com­
partment lid or help it when it is being
opened or closed automatically .

- The settings in the Infotainment system de­
termine if the luggage compartment lid can be opened us ing the handle
q page 32.
- When the vehicle is locked, the luggage
compartment lid can be unlocked separately by pressing the
l .::s l button on the remote
control key. The luggage compartment lid l ocks automatically when it is closed again .
- You can close the luggage compartment lid
us ing the remote control key (veh icles w ith
convenience key*) up to a d istance of ap­
p rox imately 9 feet (3 m).
- The luggage compartment lid can be oper­
ated manually if the veh icle battery is low.
It is necessary to use more force when doing
th is. Move the lid slowly to red uce the
amount of force needed.

T he luggage compartment lid will only open if
you make the movement as descr ibed . T h is pre­
vents the luggage compa rtment lid from open ing
due to similar movements, such as when you
walk betwee n the rear of the vehicle and your ga­
rage door .
General information
In some si tuations, the f unct ion may be lim ited
o r tempora rily unavailable . T his may happen if:
- the luggage compartment lid was closed imme ­
diately before .
- you park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the veh icle for a
long per iod of t i me
- you clean your veh icle, for example with a pres ­
sure washer or in a car wash
- there is heavy ra in
- the bumper is very dirty, for example after d riv-
ing on salt-covered roads

- When locking the vehicle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win ­
dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency .
(D Tips
-Using switches @ and@, the driver can a l­
so operate the power sunshades* in the side
windows.
- After turning the ignition off you can still
open and close the windows for approxi­ mately 10 minutes . The power windows do
not switch off until the driver's door or front
passenger's door has been opened .
Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions .
• Pull the power window switch up until the win­
dow is comp letely ra ised.
• Release the sw itch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Sunroof

A wind def lector integrated into the sliding/tilt­
ing sunroof adapts automatically to the speed
and sunroof pos ition. Th is reduces wind noise to
a minimum in all sunroof posit ions.
You can still operate the sliding/tilting sunroof
for about 10 minutes after the ignit ion is swi tch­
ed off. The switch is deactiva ted once the driver's
or front passenger's door is opened .
Sunshad e
The sunshade opens automatically when sliding
the roof open.
Vehicles with a glass panel sunroof : the sunshade
can be opened and closed by hand when the sun­
roof is closed.
Vehicles with a solar panel s unroof*: the closed
sunshade opens automatica lly when the sunroof
opens.
~ WARNING
Pay careful attention when clos ing the slid ­
ing/tilting sunroof - otherwise serious injury
could result! Always take the ignition key w ith
you when leav ing the veh icle.
(D Note
-
A lways close your sliding/tilting sunroof when
l eaving your vehicle. Rain can cause damage
to the interior equipment of your vehicle, par­ ticularly the electronic equ ipment .

The valet parking function protects the luggage
compartment from unauthorized access.

driven, locked and unlocked using the master
key, but access to the luggage compartment is

Garage door opener (Homelink)

W ith the garage door opener (Homel ink), you
can activate systems such as the garage doors,
security systems or house lights from ins ide your
vehicle. Three buttons are integrated in the head­
liner that can be programmed to up to three re­
mote controls.
To be able to operate systems using the garage
door opener, the buttons in the headliner must
first be programmed .
A WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob­
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment. People can be injured or prop­ erty can be damaged if struck when closing.

All-weather lights
The front lights are adjus ted au toma tica lly so
that you are less likely to see g lare from your ow n
head lig hts, for example when driving on a wet
road.
Automatic dynamic headlight range control*
Yo ur vehicle is equ ipped with a headlight r ange
contro l system so tha t the head lig hts do not
blind oncoming t raffic if the vehicle load
changes . T he hea dlight range also adj usts auto­
matically when brak ing and acce lerating .
Light functions
The following light funct io ns are available de ­
pending on veh icle equipment and o nly fu nction
whe n the light switc h is in t he AUTO position.
You can deactivate these functions in the MMI
under
Audi adaptive light ¢ page 45.
Static cornering light* -the corne ring light
switches on automatically when the steering
wheel is turned at a certai n angle at s peeds up to
approximately 44 mph (70 km/h) and when the
turn s ignal is activated at speeds up to approxi­
mately 25 mp h (40 km/h) . The area to t he side of
t h e ve hicle is illuminated better w hen turning.
Dynamic curve light * -the curve light adapts it­
self to the curves in the road .
Highway l ight function* -this function adapts
t h e lig hting for highway driving based on vehicle
speed .
A WARNING ~ --Automatic headlights are only intended to
assist the driver. They do no t relieve the
driver of his responsib ility to check the
headligh ts and to turn them on manually
ac co rding to t he cur rent light a nd vis ib ili ty
conditions . Fo r example, fog cannot be

Coming home, Leaving home
The coming home function illuminates the area
outside the vehicle when you turn the ignition off
and open the driver's door. To turn the function
on, select
Lights when leaving car > On.
The leaving home illuminates the area outside
the vehicle when you unlock the vehicle. To turn
the function on, select
Lights when unlocking
car> On.
The coming home and leaving home functions
only operate when it is dark and the light switch
is in the
AUTO position.
Emergency flashers

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of your vehicle in dangerous situations.
• Press the ~ button to switch the emergency
flashers on or off.
You can indicate a lane change or a turn when the
emergency flashers are switched on by using the
turn signal lever. The emergency flashers stop
temporarily.
The emergency flashers also work when the igni­
tion is turned off.

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when back ing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's exterior mirror.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (aspheric or convex*)
enlarge the field of vision. However, they
make objects in the mirror appear smaller
and farther away . You may estimate incor­
rectly when you use these mirrors to gauge
your distance from the vehicles behind you
when changing lanes, which increases the risk
of an accident.
(D Note
- If the mirror housing was moved by outs ide
forces (such as an impact when maneuver­
in g), you must use the power folding func­
tion to fold the mirror all the way out. The
mirror housing must not be moved back in-
to place by hand because this would impair
the function of the m irror mechanism.
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior mirrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.

Never fold power fold ing exterior mirrors by
hand . Only fold them in and out using the
power controls.

-If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by pressing on the edge of it by hand.

.. To dim the interior rearview mirror and both ex­
terior mirrors*, press the button @. The LED @
turns on. The interior rearview mirror and exte­
rior mirrors* dim automatically when light
shines on them, for example from headlights
on a vehicle behind you.
A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak out from broken
mirror glass. This liquid can irritate the skin,
eyes and respiratory system. If there is con­
tact with the fluid, flush immediately with
p lenty of water . Consult a physician if neces­
sary.
-
-Repeated or long-term exposure to electro­
lyte fluid can lead to irritation of the air­
ways, especially in people with asthma or
other respiratory conditions. Take deep
breaths immediately after leaving the vehi­
cle or, if this is not possible, open all of the
doors and w indows as wide as possible.
-If electrolyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of

Retracting the rear door sunshades*
~ To re tract the sunshade from the driver's seat,
press the left/right rear power window switch
~ in the driver's door.
~ To retract the sunshade from the rear of the
vehicle,
press the power window switch Q;;; in
the left/right rear door.
You can adjust the settings for the rear sunshade
so the shade retracts automatically when you se­
lect the reverse gear. Select:
CAR function button
> Car systems control button > Vehicle settings
> Automatic rear blind > On. The settings are au ­
tomatically stored and assigned to the remote
control key. T he sunshade is extended again as
soon as the vehicle is traveling forward at a speed
greater than 9 mph (15 km/h) if the ignition has
not been switched off in the meantime .
&_ WARNING
Always pay careful attention when closing the
sunshades. Pinching could cause serious inju­
ries.
@ Tips
- Pressing the l~•~l button several times in a
r ow can trigger the overload protection. The
sunshade can on ly be extended/retracted
again after a brief waiting period.
- The rear window sunshade only functions
when the vehicle interior is warmer than
14°F (-10°().
Vanity mirror in the rear

Move the windshield w iper lever to the corre­
sponding posit ion:

G)-Rain sensor mode. The windshield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
higher the sensitivity of the rain sensor that is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to mo isture on the wind­
shield. You can deact ivate the rain sensor mode
i n the Infotainment system, which sw itches the
i ntermittent mode on. Se lect:

you can adjust the interval time using the switch

®-Clean the windshield. The wipers wipe one
time after several seconds of driving to remove
water droplets. You can sw itch this function off
