The short-term memory collects driving informa­
tion from the t ime the ignition is sw itched on un­
til it is switched off. If you continue driv ing with­
i n two hours after switching the ign ition off, the
new values are included when calculating the cur­
rent trip information .
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not e rased automat ical ly. Yo u can se­
l ect the time period for evaluating trip informa­
tion yourself .
Fuel consumption
The current fue l consumption can be shown us­
ing a bar g raph ¢
fig. 14. The average cons ump­
tion stored in the short-term memory is also dis­
p layed .
If the bars are green or the gray tone on
the bars changes (depending on the equipment),
your vehicle is sav ing fuel by the following func ­
tion :
-Rec upe rati on: electrical energy can be stored in
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is coasting or driving downhill. The bar will move toward
0 /0.

malfunction in the generator or the vehicle elec­
tr ica l system .

Audi Service Facility for assistance .
(•) Electrical system: malfunction! Restart not
possible. Please contact Service
The vehicle battery was disconnected from the
veh icle elect rical system and will no longer
charge . Drive to an authorized Aud i dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility immediately.
Do not stop the engine, or you will not be able to
start it aga in . If you can no longer start the en­
g in e, see an authorized Aud i dealer or autho rized
Aud i Service Facility for assistanc e.
(•) F.lectrical system: malfunction! Please con­
tact Service
Drive to an authorized Aud i dea ler or authorized
Aud i Serv ice Facility immediately . Because the ve­
h icle battery is d ischarg ing, turn off all unneces­
sary electr ical equipment such as the radio. See
an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility if the battery charge level is too
low.

tery will be charged while driving
The start ing ability may be impaired.

Removing the mechanical key

trol key.
Using the mecha nical key, you can:
-Lock/un lock the glove compartment.
- Manually lock/u nlock the vehicle

• If you press a bu tton briefly, the LED blin ks
once.
• If you press and hold a button (convenience
opening/closing), the LED blinks several times .
• If the LED does not blink, the remote contro l
key battery is dead.

battery holder while pull ing the battery holder
out of the remote contro l key in the d irec tion of
the arrow.
• Insert the new ba ttery with the"+" facing
down .
• Slide the battery holder carefully into the re­
mote contro l key.
• Insert the mechanical key.

Discharged batter ies m ust be disposed of us­
ing methods that wi ll not harm the environ­
ment. Do not dispose of them in household
trash.

If you unlock the vehicle and do not open any of
the doors, the hood, o r the luggage compart­
ment lid within 45 seconds, the vehicle automati­
cally locks again. This feature prevents the vehi­
cle from being accidentally left unlocked over a
long period of time.
The settings in the Infotainment system deter­
mine if the entire vehicle or only the driver's door
is unlocked when unlocking the vehicle
¢ page 35.
A WARNING
No one, especially ch ildren, should stay in the
vehicle when it is locked from the outside, be­
cause the windows can no longer be opened

make it more difficult for emergency workers
to get into the vehicle, wh ich puts lives at
risk .
@ Tips
-Only use the remote control key when you
are within view of the vehicle.
- The vehicle can only be locked when these ­
lector lever is in the "P" position .
- Do not use the remote control when you are
inside the vehicle. Otherwise, you could un­
intentionally lock the vehicle . If you then try
to open a door, the anti-theft alarm will
trigger . If this happens, press the unlock
button

- Only use the pan ic function in an emergen­
cy .
Unlocking /locking with the convenience
key

The doors and luggage compartment lid can be
unlocked/locked without using the remote con­
trol key.

You ca n unl ock/ lock the vehicle at every door.
The remote control key cannot be more than ap­
proximately 4 feet (1.5 m) away from the door
handle. It makes no difference whether the mas­
ter key is in your jacket pocket or in your brief­ case, for example .
If you hold the door handle while locking, this
can impair the locking function.
T h e door cannot be opened for a brief period di­
rectly after locking it. This way you have the op­
portunity to check if the doors locked correctly .
The settings in the Infotainment system deter­
mine if the entire vehicle or only one of the doors
is unlocked when unlocking the vehicle

A WARNING
Read and following all WARNINGS r=> .&. in De­
scription on page 30.
@ Tips
If your vehicle is left standing fo r a long peri­
od of time, note the following:
- The energy management system grad ually
turns off unnecessary convenience functions
to prevent the vehicle battery from draining
and to mainta in the vehicle's ab ility to start
for as long as possib le. You may not be able
to unlock your vehicle usi ng the convenience
key.

When locking the vehicle with the central locking
switch, the following applies:
- Opening the doors and the luggage compart­
ment lid from the outs ide is not possib le for se­
curity reasons, such as when stopped at a light.
- The LED in the centra l locking switch t urns on
when a ll doors are closed and locked .
- You ca n open the doors individua lly from the
inside by pulling the door handle.
- In the event o f a crash with a irbag dep loyment,
the doo rs un lock automatica lly to allow access
to the vehicle .
A WARNING
-The central lock ing switch a lso works when
the ignition is switched off and automatical­ ly locks the entire vehicle when
t h e m but­
ton is pressed.
- The central lock ing switch is inoperative
when the vehicle is locked from the outs ide.
- Locked doors make it more difficu lt for
emergency wo rkers to get into the vehicle,
which p uts lives at r isk. Do not leave anyone
be hind in the veh icle, especially c hildren.

Storin g th e luggag e comp artm ent lid
o pening posit ion
~ Bring the luggage compartment lid into the de­
sired open position. The position must be at a
certain height or higher to store.
~ Press and hold the C> button in the luggage
compartment lid for at least four seconds to
store the new open position . A visual and audio
s ignal will follow .
~ To set a h igher open position, wait at least five
seconds and then caref ully press the luggage
compartment lid upward .
~ Press and hold the C> button again for at least
four seconds to store the desired opening posi ­
tion.
The opening/closing process wi ll stop immedi­
ately if :
- Yo u pull/release the
C> switch in the driver's
door, or
- Applies to: vehicles with convenience key:
press/release the
C> button on the remote
contro l key, or
- Applies to:
vehicles with conveniern;e key: press
the C> button or the {n but ton in the luggage
compartment lid, or
- Yo u push the hand le in the luggage compart ­
ment lid, or
- When something b locks the luggage compa rt­
ment lid or makes it difficu lt fo r the lid to
move .
I f you press the hand le or one of the
C> or {n but­
tons (veh icles w it h conven ience key*) now, the
luggage compartment lid w ill either open or
close, depending on its angle .
A WARNING
-After closing the luggage compartment lid,
make s ure that it is latched. Otherwise, the
l uggage compartment lid could open sud­
denly when driving, which increases the risk
of an accident .
- Pay careful attention when closing the lug­
gage compartment lid. Otherw ise, you could
cause serious injury to yourself or others de ­
spite the pinch protection .

-To reduce the risk of pinching injuries, a l­
ways make sure that no one is in the operat­ ing area of the luggage compartment lid, in­
cluding the hinge areas and the upper and
lower edge of the luggage compartment lid .
- Never drive with the luggage compartment
lid ajar or open, because poisonous gases
can enter the vehicle inte rior and create the
risk of asphyx iat ion.
- If there is a luggage rack (such as a bicycle rack) on the luggage compartment lid, the
luggage compartment lid may not ope n
comp letely under cert ain ci rcumstan ces or it
co uld close by itself if open due to t he extra
weight. There fore, the open luggage com ­
partment lid must be given additional sup­
port or the cargo must fi rst be removed
from the luggage rack.
@ Note
The l uggage compa rtment lid can bump into
objects s uch as the garage ceiling when open­
i ng and become damaged .

- The settings in the Infotainment system de ­
termine if t he luggage compartment lid can
be opened using the
hand le ~ page 35.
- Th ere are audible signals when closing the
luggage compartment lid with the remote
contro l key (vehicles with conven ience key*)
or with the
C> button in the driver's door.
- When the vehicle is locked, the luggage
compartment lid can be unlocked sepa rately
by pressing the
C> button on the remote
control key . The luggage compartme nt lid
locks automat ically when it is closed again.
- Applies to: vehicles with convenience key:
The luggage compartment lid can be closed
w ith the conven ience from a distance up to
approximate ly 9 ft (3 m).
- T he luggage compartment lid can be oper­
ated manua lly if the veh icle battery is low .
It is necessa ry to use mo re force when do ing
this. Move the lid s low ly to redu ce the
amou nt o f fo rce needed.

Seats and stor age
,.. If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on, press and ho ld the memory but­
ton until the seat adjustment is comp lete.
A WARNING
- For safety reasons, the seat setting can only
be recalled when the vehicle is stationary to
reduce the risk of an accident.
- In an emergency, seat adjustment operation
can be stopped by press ing the
ISETI button
or the buttons @or@

Power sources

When the ignition is switched on, you may be
ab le to use the e lectr ic power sources for exter­
nal devices, depending on the vehicle equipment.
12 volt so ckets CD
The 12-volt sockets can be used for elec trical ac ­
cessories. The power usage must not exceed
120 watts.
The 12 vo lt socke ts a re in the front center con­
sole *, in the rear * and on the luggage compar t­
ment side trim panel* .
USB ports@
You can cha rge mobi le devices and/or connect to
the Audi music interface* us ing the USB ports*.

A WARNING
Incorrect usage ca n lead to serious injuries or
burns. To reduce the r is k of injur ies, neve r

leave children unattended in the vehicle wit h

- Dis co nnect the connectors from t he power
sources carefu lly to reduce the risk of dam­
aging them .
- To reduce the risk of damage to the vehicle
electrical system, neve r attempt to charge
the vehicle battery by connecting accesso­ r ies that provide power, such as solar panels
or battery chargers, to the power sources.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the power sou rces, on ly use plugs and connectors that
fit correctly.

- If you select the "D" selector lever position
after shifting into reverse, the vehicle must be driven faster than 6 mph (10 km/h) in or­
der for the Start/Stop system to be active
again.

-The ignition will turn off if you press the
I START ENGINE STOP I button during a stop
phase .
- You can determine for yourself if the engine
will stop or not by reducing or increasing
the amount of force you use to press the brake pedal. For example, if you only lightly
press on the brake pedal in stop-and-go
traffic or when turning, the engine will not
switch off when the vehicle is stationary. As
soon as you press the brake down harder,
the engine will switch off.
- Press the brake pedal during a Stop phase
to keep the vehicle from rolling.
Starting/stopping the engine automat­
ically
Applies to: vehicles with Start/Stop system
The system checks if certain conditions are met
before and during the "stop" phase, and deter­
mines if and how long the engine is stopped de­
pending on the situation. For example, if power
usage is high, the engine will not be stopped .

Along with other conditions, the following fac­
tors influence the automatic engine start or stop:
- Environmenta l conditions (slopes, inclines, ele-
vation, temperature)
- Battery (charge status, temperature, power us-
age)
- Engine temperature
- Assistance systems
- Driving behavior
If the
rid indicator light appears in the instru­
ment cluster display, the engine will not be stop­
ped.
Switching the ignition off automatically
Applies to: vehicles with Start/Stop system
If you leave the vehicle during a "stop" phase, the
engine can be restarted within approximately 30
seconds if the doors are closed, the driver's safe­
ty belt is fastened and the brake pedal is pressed.
If you leave the vehicle longer than 30 seconds,
the ignition will switch off automatically to pre­
vent the vehicle battery from draining. If this is
the case, the message
Start/stop system: igni­
tion will be switched off in 30s
will appear in the
instrument cluster and, if the low beam head­
lights are switched on, the parking lights will
switch on instead. The parking lights will switch
off after approximately 30 minutes or when you
lock the vehicle.
The ignition also switches off when you lock the
vehicle from the outside during a stop phase.
If the Start/Stop system has not turned off the
engine or if you have switched the Start/Stop sys­
tem off manually, the ignition will not be auto­ matically switched off and the engine will contin­
ue to run.
