Opening and closing
@) Tips
You can still open and close the windows for
approximately 10 minutes after turning the
ignition off. The power windows do not switch
off until the driver's door or front passenger's
door has been opened.
Convenience opening and closing
All windows can be opened and closed at the
same time.
For power top* convenience opening/closing, re-
fer to the information in > page 33.
Convenience opening feature
> Press and hold the @ button on the remote con-
trol key until all windows reach the desired po-
sition.
Convenience closing feature
> Hold the key in the driver's door lock in the lock
position until all windows are closed > /\.
Setting convenience opening in the
Infotainment system
The function can be switched on/off in the Info-
tainment system > page 25.
Z\ WARNING
— Never close the windows carelessly or in an
uncontrolled manner, because this increases
the risk of injury.
— For security reasons, the windows can only
be opened and closed with the remote con-
trol key at a maximum distance of approxi-
mately 6 ft (2 m) away from the vehicle.
When pressing the f button, always watch
the windows while they are closing so that
no one is pinched in the window. The closing
process will stop immediately when the fa
button is released.
Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func-
tion if it malfunctions.
> Pull the power window switch up until the win-
dow is completely raised.
>» Release the switch and pull it up again for at
least one second.
Garage door opener
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opener

With the garage door opener, you can activate
systems such as the garage doors, security sys-
tems or house lights from inside your vehicle. Up
to three remote control functions can be pro-
grammed to the three buttons that are integrat-
ed in the control unit above the rearview mirror.
To be able to operate systems using the garage
door opener, the buttons in the control unit must
first be programmed.
Z\ WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob-
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment. People can be injured or prop-
erty can be damaged if struck when closing.
@® Tips
— For security reasons, we recommend that
you clear the programmed buttons before
selling the vehicle.

Programming the transmitter

Programming the button: step 1 on the
control panel
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Press both of the outside buttons on the con-
trol unit > page 30, fig. 26 until the yellow
LED @) turns off and the green LED @ turns
on. This procedure clears the standard codes
that were set at the factory and does not
need to be repeated again to program the
other buttons.
3. Briefly press the button in the control panel
that you want to program.
4. Wait until the yellow LED @) blinks. The pro-
gramming mode is active for five minutes.
5. Go in front of the vehicle with the original re-
mote control transmitter for the system that
you are programming to the control panel
button.
Programming the button: step 2 at the
radiator grille
6. Hold the remote control transmitter at the
vehicle radiator grille > fig. 27.
7. Now press the remote control transmitter
until the turn signals on your vehicle blink.
This can take up to 30 seconds.
8. Ifthe emergency flashers blink three times,
the programming was successful. If the
emergency flashers only blink one time, the
five-minute time limit for programming has
expired or the programming was unsuccess-
ful. Repeat the programming procedure
starting from the third step or change the
distance to the radiator grille.

9. Ifthe garage door or other systems do not
open with the HomeLink buttons even if the
programming was successful, the system
may use a rolling code instead of a fixed
code. You must also then perform rolling
code programming > page 31.
The other two buttons in the control panel can be
programmed using the instructions given above.
Start with step 3.
Deleting button programming
The programmed buttons cannot be deleted indi-
vidually. They must be deleted all at once. Repro-
gram the buttons if necessary.
> Switch the ignition on.
> Press both of the outside buttons on the con-
trol unit until the yellow LED @ turns off and
the green LED (@) turns on.
Reprogramming buttons
> Switch the ignition on.
> To reprogram an individual button, press the
desired button until the green LED @ turns off
and the yellow LED (2) starts to turn on (after
approximately 10 seconds). Release the button
immediately. The programming mode is active
for 5 minutes and is indicated by a blinking yel-
low light.
> Continue with step 5.
G) Tips
— The distance needed between the remote
control transmitter and the garage door
opener module in the radiator grille
=> fig. 27 depends on the system you are
programming.
— Depending on the system model, you may
need to release the button on the remote
control transmitter while it is programming
and press it again. Hold every position you
try when programming for at least 15 sec-
onds before trying a new position. Keep an
eye on the vehicle turn signals while doing
this.
Rolling code programming
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opener
On some systems, programming a rolling code is
also necessary.
Identifying a rolling code
After programming a rolling code successfully (in
front of the vehicle), the yellow LED stays on
when returning to the vehicle. It turns off the
next time the button is pressed. It will then blink
green and the garage door opener will send the
required signal. The garage door opener will also
send the signal and the LED will blink green
whenever the button is pressed after that.
> Program the rolling code as follows:
Activating the system motor unit
> Locate the programming button on the system
motor unit. The exact location and color of the
button may vary depending on the brand.
> Press the programming button on the system
motor unit (usually this will activate a “display”
on the motor unit). You now have approximate-
ly 30 seconds to program the button in the
control panel.
Programming the button in the control
panel
> Press and hold the previously programmed but-
ton in the control panel for two seconds.
> To complete rolling code programming, press
and hold the button again for two seconds.
> On some systems, the button might need to be
pressed a third time to end the programming
procedure.
After programming, the system should recognize
the signal and operate when the button in the
control panel is pressed. Now you may program
the other buttons as needed.
@) Tips
— The rolling code can be programmed more
quickly and more easily with the help of a
second person.
— If any difficulties occur when programming
the rolling code, it may be helpful to read
the system operating manual.

Power top
Automatic power top

Applies to: vehicles with power top
The power top opens and closes automatically.
When open, the power top is stored completely
in the power top compartment. The power top
can be opened or closed at speeds up to 30 mph
(50 km/h). The power top will not open when the
temperature is below 5 °F (-15 °C).
Under normal conditions, the power top is wind-
and waterproof. In rare cases, small droplets of
water may form under extreme weather condi-
tions such as torrential or prolonged rain. That is
normal and no cause for concern.
Follow the care instructions to keep the power
top free of leaks and to maintain its appearance
= page 265, Care and cleaning. Also observe the
following:
— Open and stow the power top only when it is
clean and dry. Stowing the power top when it is
damp can create imprints in it, and if it is left
that way for long periods of time, mildew and
other damage can form. To prevent scratching
or damaging the power top, do not use any
sharp-edged objects to remove ice and snow.
The rear window may be cleared with a stand-
ard ice scraper.
— Do not leave the power top open for several
weeks or the creases in it may become discol-
ored.
— Do not open the power top when the tempera-
ture is below 32 °F (0 °C). The fabric in the
power top loses elasticity in sub-zero tempera-
tures.

> Switch the ignition on.
> To open or close the power top, pull or press
and hold the switch until it is completely
opened or closed.
Opening/closing the power top using the
one-touch function
> Switch the ignition on.
> To open/close the power top all the way, briefly
pull/press the power top switch. It is not neces-
sary to hold the switch. The one-touch function
is only available at speeds between 4 mph
(6 km/h) and 30 mph (50 km/h).
The status of the power top is shown in the in-
strument cluster when operating the power top
switch.
A message will appear in the instrument cluster
if the power top cannot be opened or closed.
ZA\ WARNING
— When operating the power top, make sure
the function is not affected by wind or other
factors and that it does not interfere with
other drivers.
— Never drive when the power top is not
locked correctly. The wind from driving
could cause the power top to open. This can
result in injuries and damage to the vehicle. |P>

AN WARNING
— Do not use the wind deflector to secure car-
go.
—To reduce the risk of an accident, pay atten-
tion to traffic when installing the wind de-
flector.
(i) Tips
— The wind deflector works best when all of
the windows are rolled up while driving.
—To prevent mildew, do not store the wind
deflector when it is damp.
Rear window
Applies to: vehicles with extendable rear window

The rear window can only be operated when the
ignition is switched on. The rear window can be
raised slightly when the power top is open to re-
duce air movement inside the vehicle and in-
crease comfort © fig. 33.
Retracting/extending the rear window
> To retract/extend the rear window, press/pull
the switch until the retracting/extending proc-
ess is complete.
> To set an intermediate position, press/pull the
switch until the rear window reaches the de-
sired position.
> To fully retract the rear window, press the
switch briefly. There is no need to hold the
switch. To cancel the retracting process, press
the switch again.
ZA WARNING
—To reduce the risk of injury, do not use the
rear window to secure cargo or other ob-
jects.
— Never retract or extend the rear window
carelessly or in an uncontrolled manner.
Pinching could cause serious injuries.

> Set the parking brake.
> Open all windows.
> Switch the ignition off.

mately 10 to 15 seconds to reduce the pressure
in the power top hydraulics.
> Open the luggage compartment lid.
> Remove the screwdriver ®, the hex socket
wrench (Q), the open end wrench (3), the wheel
wrench () and the adapter (5) > fig. 35 from
the vehicle tool kit.

When the lights are switched on, the 2» symbol
turns on.
O - lights are off (in some markets, the daytime
running lights* are switched on when the ignition
is switched on.)
— USA models: The daytime running lights switch
on automatically when the ignition is switched
on and the light switch is in the O or AUTO posi-
tion (only in daylight). The Daytime running
lights can be switched on and off in the MMI
>page 44> A.
— Canada models: The daytime running lights
switch on automatically when the ignition is
switched on and the light switch is in the O,
300 or AUTO position (only in daylight) > A\.
AUTO* - automatic headlights switch on and off
depending on brightness, for example in twilight,
during rain or in tunnels.
300: - Parking lights
ZO - Low beam headlights
220 - All-weather lights*
Q# - Rear fog light(s)*
All-weather lights*
In vehicles with all-weather lights, the front
lights are adjusted automatically so that you are

less likely to see glare from your own headlights,
for example when driving on a wet road.
Light functions
The following light functions may be available
depending on vehicle equipment and only func-
tion when the light switch is in the AUTO posi-
tion.
Static cornering light - the cornering light
switches on automatically when the steering
wheel is turned at a certain angle at speeds up to
approximately 44 mph (70 km/h), and when the
turn signal is activated at speeds up to approxi-
mately 25 mph (40 km/h). The area to the side of
the vehicle is illuminated better when turning.
Intersection lighting: on vehicles with a naviga-
tion system’, intersections can be illuminated.
Z\ WARNING
— Automatic headlights* are only intended to
assist the driver. They do not relieve the
driver of responsibility to check the head-
lights and to turn them on manually based
on the current light and visibility conditions.
For example, fog cannot be detected by the
light sensors. So always switch on the low
beams under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark 2D.
—To reduce glare for traffic behind your vehi-
cle, the rear fog lights* should only be
turned on in accordance with the legal regu-
lations in the country where you are operat-
ing the vehicle.
— If the battery has been discharging for a
while, the parking light may switch off auto-
matically. Always make sure your vehicle is
parked and adequately illuminated accord-
ing to the legal regulations in the country
where you are operating the vehicle. Avoid
using the parking lights for several hours.
— Observe the legal regulations in the country
where you are operating the vehicle when
using the lighting system that is described.
G) Tips
— The light sensor for the automatic head-
lights* is in the rearview mirror mount. Do >

not place any stickers in this area on the
windshield.
— Some exterior lighting functions can be ad-
justed > page 44.
— If you turn off the ignition while the exterior
lights are on and open the door, a warning
tone sounds.
— In some markets, the tail lights will switch
on when the daytime running lights switch
on.
— In cool or damp weather, the inside of the
headlights, turn signals, and tail lights can
fog
over due to the temperature difference
between the inside and outside. They will
clear shortly after switching them on. This
does not affect the service life of the light-
ing.
Laser lighting
Applies to: vehicles with laser lighting

The laser high beams increase the range of the
headlights.
The LED high beam is controlled by the high
beam assistant.
Activating high beam assistant
Requirement: the light switch must be set to AU-
TO, the low beams must be switched on and the
high beam assistant must be switched on in the
Infotainment system > page 44.
> to activate the high beam assistant, press the
lever
@) > page 42, fig. 51. The indicator
light appears in the Infotainment system dis-
play and the high beams switch on/off auto-
matically. The indicator light Ed turns on if the
high beams were switched on.
Technical changes to LED headlights have signifi-
cantly increased the range. An additional module
integrated in the headlight converts a blue laser
light into a white light using a luminescent mate-
rial. The headlight contains a class 2 laser. A con-
verter transforms the laser beam so that there is
no danger when it is used for its intended pur-
pose.

The following symbol in the instrument cluster
indicates when the laser lights in the high beam
headlights are activated: *2Q.
ZA WARNING
Every repair procedure on the headlights must
be performed by an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility that will per-
form work according to Audi factory specifica-
tions. Incorrect repairs could result in eye in-
jury, impair the function and may void the ve-
hicle's operating license. Opening the laser
module is not permitted and could cause per-
manent damage to the eyes.
— Laser radiation emitted from the headlamp
was classified according to IEC
60825-1:2007
— The accessible emission is below the limit
for laser class 2*.
— Maximum radiant power: 5 W (continuous
wave), wavelength: A= 400 nm - 700 nm
— Lighting functions of the headlamp were
evaluated according to IEC 62471
— The radiation emitted from the headlamp is
classified as Risk Group 2**
— Hazardous laser radiation exposure could
occur
if any covers or housings are removed
from the headlight assembly.
@) Note
Your vehicle is equipped with maintenance-
free headlights. However, if there is a mal-
function of the headlight, please contact an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility.
— The headlight assembly should not be serv-
iced and no maintenance should be per-
formed.
— The entire unit must be replaced in the
event that the headlamp assembly is not
working properly.
@ Tips
The LED high beam is controlled by the high
beam assistant. The laser high beams switch
on approximately one second after activating

the LED high beams if the following require-
ments are met
— The low beam headlight must be switched
to the AUTO light switch position.
— The laser high beam is switched on starting
at speeds of 44 mph (70 km/h).
— The laser beam is switched back off when
the speed decreases below 30 mph
(50 km/h) or when the headlight assistant
switches the LED headlights off.

The lever operates the turn signals, the high

Turn signals 15>
The turn signal activates when you move the lev-
er into a turn signal position when the ignition is
switched on. The respective |<} or B indicator
light flashes.
@- Right turn signal

The turn signal blinks three times if you tap the
lever (convenience turn signal).
High beams ZO and headlight flasher
Move the lever to the corresponding position:

settings > Exterior lighting.
Automatic headlights
You can adjust the following settings in the Auto-
matic
headlights menu:
Activation time - You can adjust if the headlights
switch on Early, Medium, or Late according to
the sensitivity of the light sensor.
Headlight assistant* - You can switch the high
beam assistant* on and off. On vehicles with laser
high
beams, the laser light can be activated or
deactivated.
Daytime running lights*
USA models: the daytime running lights can be
switched on or off using the MMI. Select On or
Off.
Canada models: The daytime running lights can-
not be turned off. The lights activate automati-
cally each time the ignition is switched on. This
menu item is shown with a “gray background”.
Entry/exit lighting
The entry lighting function illuminates the area
outside the vehicle when you unlock the vehicle
when it is dark. To switch on the function, select
Entry/exit lighting.
The exit lighting function illuminates the area
outside the vehicle when you turn the ignition off
and open the driver's door when it is dark. To
switch on the function, select Entry/exit light-
ing.
The entry/exit lighting only works when it is dark
and the light switch is in the AUTO position.

Emergency flashers

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of your vehicle in dangerous situations.
> Press the A button to switch the emergency
flashers on or off.
You can indicate a lane change or a turn when the
emergency flashers are switched on by using the
turn signal lever. The emergency flashers stop
temporarily.
The emergency flashers also work when the igni-
tion is turned off.
@) Tips
You should switch the emergency flashers on
if:
— you are the last car in a traffic jam so that
all other vehicles approaching from behind
can see your vehicle
— your vehicle has broken down or you are
having an emergency
— your vehicle is being towed or if you are tow-
ing another vehicle

You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn-
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off.
ZA WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex) enlarge the
field of vision. However, they make objects in
the mirror appear smaller and farther away.
When using these mirrors to estimate your
distance to vehicles behind you when chang-
ing lanes, you could estimate incorrectly,
which increases the risk of an accident.
@) Note
If the mirror housing was moved by force (for
example, by running into an object when ma-
neuvering the vehicle), the mirror must be
folded all the way in using the power folding
function. The mirror housing must not be
moved back into place by hand because this
could impair the function of the mirror mech-
anism.
G@) Tips
If the power adjusting function malfunctions,
the glass in both mirrors can be adjusted by
pressing on the edge of it by hand.
Dimming the mirrors
Automatic dimming rearview mirror
> The interior and exterior mirrors* dim auto-
matically when light shines on them, for exam-
ple from headlights on a vehicle behind you.
other respiratory conditions. Take deep
breaths immediately after leaving the vehi-
cle or, if this is not possible, open all of the
doors and windows as wide as possible.
— If electrolyte fluid comes into contact with
the eyes, flush them thoroughly with plenty
of clean water for at least 15 minutes and
then seek medical attention.
— If electrolyte fluid comes into contact with
the skin, flush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes, and then
clean with soap and water and seek medical
attention. Clean affected clothing and shoes
thoroughly before wearing again.
— If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscious, flush the mouth with water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting
unless this is recommended by medical pro-
fessionals. Seek medical attention immedi-
ately.
ZA\ WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic dim-
ming mirrors if the glass is broken. Electrolyte
fluid can irritate skin, eyes and airways.
— Repeated or long-term exposure to electro-
lyte fluid can lead to irritation of the air-
ways, especially in people with asthma or

C) Note
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, electrolyte can leak out. This liquid
damages plastic surfaces. Clean this liquid as
quickly as possible, for example with a wet
sponge.
G) Tips
— If the light reaching the rearview mirror is
obstructed, the automatic dimming mirror
will not function correctly,
— The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected.
