To help you see the cu rb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mi rror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger 's outside
mirror .
You can adj ust the ti lted mirror surface by turn ­
ing the knob in the desired direction . When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its origina l position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition
off.
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex or spherical*)
increase your field of view. Remember that
vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
and farther away than when seen in a flat mir­
ror .
If you use this mirro r to estimate distan­
ces of following veh icles when changing
lanes, you cou ld es timate incorrectly and
cause an accident .
(D Note
-If the mirror hous ing was moved by force
(fo r example, by running into an object
when maneuvering the vehicle), the m irror
must be folded all the way in using the pow­
er folding function. The mirror housing
must not be moved back into place by hand
because this would impair the function of
the mirror mechanism.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior mirrors in
Li ghts a nd Visio n
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.
Never fold power fo lding exterior mirrors*
by hand . On ly fold them in and out us ing
the power controls.
@ Tips
- If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by pressing on the edge of it by hand.

A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic dim ­
ming mirrors if the g lass is broken. Electrolyte
flu id can irritate skin, eyes and respiratory
system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to e lectro­
lyte can cause irritat ion to the respiratory
system, especially among people with asth­
ma or other resp iratory conditions. Get
fresh a ir immediately by leaving the vehicle
or, if t hat is not possible, open windows and
doors all the way.

windshield . Switching on the windsh ield
wipers can damage the wiper b lades!
- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system m ust be switched
off (lever in
position @). This helps to prevent uninten­
tiona l switching on and damage to the
windsh ield wiper system.
@ Tips
- The windshield wipers are switched off
when the ignition is turned off . Activate the
windsh ield wipers after the ignition is
switched back on by moving the windsh ield
wiper lever to any pos it ion.
- Worn or dirty windshield w iper blades result
i n streaking. This can affect the rain sensor*
funct ion. Check your windshield wiper
blades regularly.
- The washer fluid nozzles of the windshield washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ignit ion is on.
- When stopp ing temporarily, (e.g . at a traffic
li ght) the set speed of the windsh ield wipers
i s automatically reduced by one speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades

g in to leave streaks . Use a soft cloth and glass
cleaner to clean the windshield wiper blades .

tal neck injury dramatically.
- Vehicles with a pass through in the center console have seat ing for four. The long cen­
ter console between the two rear seats is
not a seat ing pos ition. Therefo re, a safety
belt is not provided.

belts are an extremely effective combination
of safety features.
Memory function
Description
Appl ies to vehicles: wi th memo ry fu nct io n
The memory f unct ion allows you to quickly and
easily store and recall personal seating profiles
for the driver . The memory function is operated
t h rough the master key and the memo ry buttons
in the driver 's door.
T he driver's seating p rofile is stored and assigned
to the master key each time the vehicle is locked.
When you open the door, the seat profile is auto­ matically reca lled. If two people use one vehicle,
it is recommended that each person always uses
"their own" ma ster key.
Up to 2 seat profi les can be stored in the memory
buttons in the driver's door. Once they are stored,
these seat profiles can be selected at any time.
In addition to the driver's seat settings, you can
also store and access the exterior mirror adjust­
ment settings* using the remote contro l key or
memory bu tton.

Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and can
be locked .

glove compartment lid upward until the lock

The glove compartment can be locked using the
mechanical key

On the right side in the glove compartment is a
holder with the key body into which the emergen­
cy key must be clipped to be able to start the ve­
hicle.
A WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury in an acci­ dent or sudden stop, always keep the glove
compartment closed while driving.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments and
fasteners in various places in the vehicle.
- In the roof headliner above the rearview mirror .
- On the back of the front seat. The compart-
ment can hold a maximum weight of 1 kg.
- On the left and right of the luggage compart­
ment, behind the side trim.
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of the
vehicle.

- When driving, do not leave any hard objects
on the rear window shelf or allow your pet
to sit on the shelf . They could become a haz­
ard for vehicle occupants in the event of
sudden braking or a crash.
-Always remove objects from the instrument
panel. Any items not stored could slide
around inside the vehicle while driving or
when accelerating or when applying the brakes or when driving around a corner.
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thing you may have placed in the center con­
sole or other storage locations cannot fall
out into the footwells. In case of sudden braking you would not be able to brake or
accelerate .
- Any articles of clothing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view .
The coat hooks are designed only for light­
weight clothing. Never hang any clothing
with hard, pointed or heavy objects in the pockets on the coat hooks. During sudden
braking or in an accident -especially if the
airbag is deployed -these objects could in­
jure any passengers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the risk of personal inju ry in an ac­
cident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS
¢ page 146, Important safety instructions
on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do not
impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for light­
weight clothing. Do not leave any heavy or
sharp edged objects in the pockets which
may interfere with the side curtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­
ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere
with proper deployment of the side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop .

-Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to re­
duce the risk of injury in the event of sudden
braking maneuvers or a collision .
CJ) Note
Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defogger.
@ Tips
-A vent slot is located between the shelf and
the rear window. Do not block the vent with
any items you may place on the rear window
shelf.
- Do not place bulky items on the rear window
shelf as they could restrict or block the driv­
er's vision in the rear view mirror .
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rock .

• Always read and follow the instructions provid­
ed by the roof rack manufacturer when instal­
ling the roof rack system .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following :
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehicle.
These approved roof racks are the basis for a complete roof rack system. Additional attach­
ments or carrier systems are needed to trans­
port luggage and sports equipment . We recom-

mend using roof racks from the Audi original
accessories program.
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it is
only mounted on the designated locations on
the roof

- We recommend that you keep the installation
instructions for your roof rack system together
with your Owner's literature in the vehicle.
When should the roof rack be removed?
-Before going through an automatic car wash (it
is best to ask the car wash operator for advice).
- When not in use, to reduce fuel consumption,
wind noise and to guard against theft .

- Use of an unapproved roof rack or incorrect
mounting of an approved roof rack can
cause the roof rack or the items attached to it to fall off the roof onto the road.
- Objects falling from the roof of a vehicle can
cause a crash and personal injury.
- Only mount the roof rack on the designated
locations on the roof

- The roof rack system must be installed ex­
actly according to the instructions provided.
- When driving with a roof rack system,
changes to the center of gravity and wind re­
sistance can change the vehicle handling
and lead to a co llision. Always adapt your
driving and your speed to the current condi­
tions.

- Your vehicle warranty does not cover any
damages to the vehicle caused by using roof
racks or mounting structures not approved
by Audi for your vehicle. The same applies to
damage resulting from incorrect roof rack
installation.
- Always check the roof rack mountings and
hardware before each trip and during a trip
to make sure everything is securely tight­
ened. If necessary, retighten the mountings
and check the entire system from time to

A WARNING

-The backrest must always be secure ly latch-
ed so that the safety be lt of the center seat­
ing position can wo rk properly to help pro­
t e ct the occupant.
- The backrest must be securely latched in po­
sition so that no items conta ined in the Lug­
gage compartment can slide forward upon
sudden b rak ing.
- Always check whether the latch is fully en­
gaged by p ulling the seatback fo rward.
- Never allow safety b elts to become dam­
aged by be ing caught in door or seat ha rd­
ware.
- Torn or frayed safety belts ca n tear qnd
damaged be lt hardware can b reak i n a crash.
I nspect the bel ts periodically. Belts show ing
damage to webbing, bind ings, b uckles, or
retractors mus t be replaced.

- If you move the front seat back when t he
rea r seat b ackres t is folded forwa rd, you
co uld damage the head restraints on the
rear seat.
- Slide the be lt g uide on the o utside safety
bel t all the way up befo re fo ld ing the back ­
rest bac k forwa rd . Make sure the seat belt is
not pinched or damaged when the rear seat
backrest if folded back. Other objects
should be removed from the rear seat bench
to protect the seatback from damage.

- You can open the pass-through from the
luggage compartment. Push the release
button down and push the cover forward.
- You can lock or unlock the pass-through us­
ing the mechanical key. This prevents any
access to the luggage compartment from

Securing the ski sack

The ski sock must be secured in the luggage com­
portment.

Sea ts and sto rage
A WARNING
-- The ski sack is intended only for the trans-
portation of skis and other light objects . To
reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
never transport heavy or pointed objects in
the ski sack.
- When braking rapid ly or during an accident,
the load could be displaced and cause injury
to occupants.
- Sharp edges on the load must be covered for p rotection. Always fasten the belt tightly
around the sack and its contents~

- For safety reasons, do not transport more
than two pairs of skis in the ski sack.
- You must secure the ski sack with the strap after loading.
- Make sure that all objects you are transport­
ing in the pass-through are secured. Other­
wise they could slide around during sudden b rak ing maneuvers and cause injuries.
(l} Tips
- Never stow the ski sack away when it is still
wet or damp (for example, snow melting
from skis). Allow it to dry completely before stowing it away.
- When transporting sk is or snowboards,
tighten the securing strap between the bindings.
- Pos ition skis in the sk i sack with the pointed
ends facing the front and ski poles with the
pointed ends facing the rear.
- You can lock or unlock the pass-through us­
ing the mechan ical key. This prevents any
access to the luggage compartment from
the vehicle interior.
Parcel shelf
The parcel shelf behind the rear seatback can be
used to carry light items of clothing.
A WARNING
-
No heavy or hard objects should be placed on
the parcel shelf. They are a hazard to the vehi ­
cle occupants dur ing sudden braking. The is a
risk of injury.

Operation
We recommend pressing the !AU TO ! button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or off.
Use the dials to adj ust the temperature, the
b lo wer speed and the air distribution. The LED in
a button will light up when the function is
switched on. The settings are displayed for a few
seconds in the radio or MMI* display.
In vehicles with a 3-zone deluxe automatic cli­
mate control systems*, the driver and front pas­
senger side can be adjusted sepa rately. The set­
tings are also disp layed in the climate control
system display .

I OFFI Switching the climate control system
on/off
The ! OFF ! button switches the climate contro l
system on or off.
It also switches on when you
press the knob. Airflow from outside is blocked
when the cl imate control system is switched off.
IA/C l Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not cooled and humidity is not removed
when coo ling mode is switched off. This can
cause fog on the windows. The cooling mode is
switched off automatically at low outside tem­
peratures.

Steering
Manually adjustable steering wheel
The steering wheel position is fully adjus table up
and down and forward and back .

First, adjust the driver's seat correctly.
• Pull the lever~

• Move the steering wheel to the desired posi­
tion.
• Push the lever against the steering column un-
til it locks.
There must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) be­ tween your chest and the center of the steering
wheel. If you cannot sit more than 10 inches (25
cm) from the steering wheel, see if adaptive
eq uipment is available to help you reach the ped­
als and increase the distance from the steering
wheel.

.&_ WARNING
Improper use of steering wheel adjustment
and improper seating position can cause seri­
ous personal injury.
- Adjust the steering wheel column only when
the vehicle is not moving to prevent loss of
vehicle control.
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel so
that there is a minimum of 10 inches (25
cm) between your chest and the steering
wheel
~page 112, fig. 118 . If you cannot

maintain this minimum distance, the airbag
system cannot protect you properly.
-If phys ical limitations prevent you from sit­
ting 10 inches (25 cm) or more from the
steering wheel, check with your authorized
Audi dealer to see if adaptive equipment is
available.
- If the steering wheel is aligned with your
face, the supplemental driver's airbag can­
not provide as much protection in an acci­
dent. Always make sure that the steering
wheel is aligned with your chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel with your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
tions to reduce the risk of personal injury if
the driver's airbag deploys.
- Never hold the steering wheel at the 12
o'clock position or with your hands inside
the steering wheel rim or on the steering
wheel hub. Holding the steering wheel the
wrong way can cause serious injuries to the
hands, arms and head if the driver's airbag
deploys .
Ignition lock
Starting engine with the key
Applies to vehicles: with ignition lock
The ignition is switched on and the engine start­
ed with the ignition key .

Sw itching the ignition on /off
If you would like to switch the ignition o n wit h­
out starting the engine, fo llow these steps:
• Inse rt the key into the ignition lock.
• Press the key brief ly
wi thout p ress ing the b rake
pedal.
• To sw itch the ignition off , press the key again.
When starting the engine, major e lectr ica l loads
are sw itched off temporar ily.
You ca n only remove the key with the ignition
sw itched off .
If the engine should not start immedia tely , the
starti ng process is automatically stopped after a
short time . Repeat sta rting procedure .
A WARNING
-Never allow the engine to run in confined
spaces - dange r of asp hyxiation.
- Never remove the ignition key from the ign i­
t ion loo k while the vehicle is moving . Other­
wise, the steering lock cou ld sudden ly en­
gage and you would not be able to steer the
vehicle.
- Always ta ke the key with yo u wheneve r you
leave your vehi cle. Otherwise, the engine
could be started or electrical eq uipment
s uch as the power windows cou ld be operat­
ed . T his can lead to ser ious injury.
- Never leave ch ildren or persons requiring as­
sistance unattended in the vehicle. The
doors can be locked using the remote trans­
mitter, preventing peop le from escap ing
from the vehicle on their own in the event of an emergency . Depending on the time of
year, people inside the vehicle can be ex­ posed to very high o r very low tempe ra­
t ur es.

Avoid high engine rpm, full throttle and heavy
eng ine loads until the eng ine has reached op­
erati ng temperature - otherwise you risk en­
gine dam age.

-If the key cannot be removed from the igni­

- After starting a co ld engine, there may be a
br ief per iod of increased noise because the
oil pressure must first build up in the hy­
draulic valve adjusters. This is norma l and
not a cause fo r concern .
- If you leave the veh icle with the ignition
switched on, the ig nition w ill switch off af­
ter a ce rtain period of t ime . Pleas e note tha t
ele ct rical eq uipme nt such as e xterior lights
w ill switch off a s well when that hap pens.
Starting the vehicle with the emergency
key
Applies to vehicles: with ignition lock
You can use the emergen cy key as an igni tion key
in an emergency.
