The instrument illumination for the needles
and dia ls turns on when the ignition is turned
on and the lights are turned off. The illumina­
tion for the dials reduces automatically and
eventually turns off as brightness outside in­
creases. This function reminds the driver to
turn the headlights on at the appropriate
time.

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slight ly . For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's outside
mirror.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
T he m irror goes back into its orig inal position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) or switch the ign ition off.
A WARNING
-Curved (i . e. convex) mirror surfaces increase
your f ield of view . Remember that veh icles or
other objects will appear smaller and farther
away than when seen in a fla t mirror . If you

use this mirror to estimate distances of fol­
lowing vehicles when changing lanes, you
could estimate incorrectly and cause an acci­
dent .
CD Note
- If the mirror housing was moved by force
(for example, by running into an object
when maneuvering the vehicle), the mirror
must be folded all the way in using the pow­
er folding function. The mirror housing
must not be moved back into place by hand
because this would impair the function of
the mirror mechanism.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior mirrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors. Never fold power folding exterior mirrors*
by hand. Only fold them in and out using
the power controls.
@ Tips
- If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by pressing on the edge of it by hand.
- The exterior mirror settings are stored with
the memory function*~

automat ically when light shines on them, for
example from headlights on a vehicle to the rear.
A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic dim­
ming mirrors if the glass is broken . Electrolyte
fluid can irritate skin, eyes and respiratory system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to electro­
lyte can cause irritation to the respiratory
system, especially among people with asth­
ma or other respiratory conditions. Get
fresh air immediately by leaving the vehicle
or, if that is not possible, open windows and
doors all the way.
- If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush them
thoroughly with large amounts of clean wa­
ter for at least 15 minutes; medical atten­
tion is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affected
area with clean water for at least 15 mi­
nutes and then wash affected area with
soap and water; medical attention is recom­
mended . Thoroughly wash affected clothing
and shoes before reuse.
- If swallowed and person is conscious, rinse
mouth with water for at least 15 minutes .
Do not induce vomiting unless instructed to
do so by medical professional. Get medical
attention immediately.
CD Note
Liquid electrolyte leaking from broken mirror
glass will damage any plastic surfaces it
comes in contact with . Clean up spilled elec­
trolyte immediately with clean water and a
sponge.
(j) Tips
- Switching off the dimming function of the
inside rear view mirror also deactivates the
automatic dimming function of the exterior
mirrors.

-The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected .
-A utomatic dimming for the mirror only op­
erates properly if the light striking the in­
side mirror is not hindered in any way.
Sun visors

A WARNING
-Do not use the sun shade to secure cargo. The
luggage compartment cover is not a surface
for storing objects. Objects placed on the cov­
er could endanger all vehicle occupants dur­
i ng sudden braking maneuvers or in a crash.

"' 0 :i: (!) -Rain sensor mode . The windshield wipers
switch on once the veh icle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining . The
highe r the ra in sensor sens itivity is set (switch @
to the right), the earlier the windshield wipe rs re­
act to moisture on the windshield. You can deac­
tivate rain sensor mode in the MMI, which wi ll
then activate intermittent mode . Select:
!CARI
function button > (Car)* systems control button
> Driver assist > Rain sensor > Off. In intermit­
tent mode, you can adjust the interval time using
the switch @.
@ -Slow wiping
@ -Fast wiping
@ -Single wipe . If you ho ld the lever in this posi­
tion longer, the wipe rs switch from slow w iping
to fast wiping.
®-Clean the windshield. The wipers wipe one
t ime after several seconds of driving to remove
water drop lets. You can swit ch th is function off ..,.

by moving the lever to position ® within 10 sec ­
onds after the afterwipe. The afterwipe function
is reactivated the next time you switch the ign i­
tion on.
Cleaning the headlights *. The headlight washer
system* operates only when the low beam head­ lights are on. If you move the lever to position
® , the headlights and the night vision assist
camera* are washed in intervals.
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
dr iver . The driver is st ill responsible for
manually switching the wipers on according
to the v is ibility conditions.
- The w indshield may not be treated w ith wa­
te r-repell ing windsh ield coating agents. Un­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­ ness or low sun, can resu lt in increased
glare, which increases the risk of an acci ­
dent. Wiper blade chatter is also possible.
- Properly functioning w indshield w iper
blades are required for a clear view and safe
driving ~

- If there is frost, make sure the windshield
wiper blades are not frozen to the wind ­
s h ield. Switching on the winds hield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­
sh ield can damage the wiper blades.
- Prior to using a car wash, the winds hield
wiper system must be switched off (lever in
position 0). This prevents unintentional
switching on and damage to the w indshield
wiper system.
(Di Tips
- The windshield wipers switch off when the
i gnition is turned off. You can act ivate the
windsh ield wipers after the ignition is
switched back on by moving the windsh ield
wiper lever to any pos it ion.
- Worn or dirty windshield w iper blades result
i n streaking. This can affect the rain sensor
so
f unction. Check your w indshield wiper
blades regu larly .
- T he washer fluid nozz les o f the windshie ld
washer system are heated at low tempera­
t ur es when the ignition is on.
- When stopping temporarily, such as at a traffic light, the speed of the windshield
wipers automatica lly reduces by one leve l.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the wiper blades when you see wiper
streaks. Use a soft cloth and a glass cleaner.

-Never adjust the driver's or front passeng­
er's seat while the veh icle is moving. If you
do this while the veh icle is moving, you will
be out of posit ion . Always adjust the d river's
or front passenger's seat when the vehicle is
no t moving.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat he ight.
Check to see that no one is in the way, or se­
r io us inju ry co uld resul t!
- Because the seat s can be elec trically adjust­
ed w ith the ignition off, never leave children
unattended in the vehicle. Unsupervised use
of the e lectric seat adjustments may cause
serious injury .
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden b raking or accident, front passen ­
gers must never ride in a moving veh icle
with the backrest reclined. Safety belts and
the airbag system only offer max imum pro­
tect ion when the backrest is upright and the
safety belts are properly positioned on the
body . The more the backrest is recl ined, t he
greater the ris k of persona l inju ry from an
incor rect seating posit ion and imprope rly
positioned sa fety belts .
(D Tips
- The massage funct ion sw itches off automat­
ically after approximately 10 minutes.
- The side bolsters* deflate when the d river's
door is ope ned . Th is allows you to enter and
ex it comfortably. The side bolsters i nflate
ag ain once you begin drivi ng.

• If the driver's door is open and the ignition is
switched off, press the memo ry button.
• If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on, press and hold the memory but­

A WARNING
-For safety reasons, the seat setting can on ly
be recalled when the veh icle is stationary­
otherwise you risk having an accident.
- If necessary, you can stop the recall process
by pressing the !O FF ! button or any memory
button .
Adjusting the front passenger's seat in the

The driver can move the front passenger's seat

The electromechanical parking brake replaces
the hand brake.

Your veh icle is eq uipped w ith an elec tromechan i­
cal parking b rake. The parking b rake is designed
to prevent the veh icle from rolling unintentional ­
ly and replaces the hand brake.
I n addition to t he normal func tions of a tradi tion­
al hand brake, the e lectromechanica l parking
b rake provides var ious convenience and safety
functions.

t ion switched off, the ind icator lights in the
switch and -(USA mode ls)/ . (Cana ­
da models) in the instrument cluster will go

- Occasional noises when the pa rking brake- is
applied a nd re leased a re norma l and are not
a ca use for concer n.
- Whe n the v ehicle is pa rked, the par king
brake goes through a self -test cycle at r egu­
lar i nterval s. Any asso ciated noises are nor­
m al.
Parking
• Press the brake peda l to stop the ve hicle.
"' Pull the switch ~ to set the pa rking brake.
• Move the se lector lever to P.
• Turn the engine off¢&_ .
• Turn the steering wheel when parking on in­
clines so that the wheels w ill roll into the curb
if the vehicle starts movi ng .

General information
Applies to vehi cles: with Start-Stop-System
The standard Start-Stop mode con be canceled
for different system-related reasons.

Engine does not switch off
Before and during each stop phase, the system
checks if certain conditions have been met . For
examp le, the engine will not switch off in the fol­
lowing situations:
- The engine has not reached the minimum re­
quired temperature for Start-Stop mode.
- The interior temperature selected by the A/C
system has not been reached.
- The outside temperature is extremely high/low.
- The windshield is being defrosted@.
- The parking system* is be switched on .
- The battery charge level is too low .
- The steering wheel is turned at a sharp angle or
is moving .
- After engaging the reverse gear.
- On sharp inclines.
@J also appears in the instrument cluster dis­
play.
Engine automatically restarts
The standard Start-Stop mode will be canceled
during a stop phase in the following situations .
The engine restarts without any action by the driver.
Driving
- The vehicle rolls, for examp le while on a s lope.
- The interior temperature varies from the tem-
perature selected in the A/C system.
- The windshield is being defrosted@.
- The brake pedal is pressed severa l times in a
row.
- The battery charge level becomes too low.
- High power consumption.
The engine can turn off again when the condi­ tions for Start-Stop mode are met.
Ignition is switched off automatically
To prevent the battery from draining, the igni­
tion
will switch off automatically under the fol­
lowing conditions:
- The vehicle has already been driven.
- The Start-Stop-System has stopped the engine.
- The driver's door is opened .
- The driver's safety belt is removed.
- The brake pedal is not pressed down.
- The vehicle is stationary.
In this case, the activated low beam is replaced
by the parking light. The parking lights will
switch off after approximately 30 minutes or
when you lock the vehicle.
If the Start-Stop-System has not turned off the
engine or if you have switched the Start-Stop­
System off manually, the ignition will not be au­
tomatically switched off and the engine will con­
tinue to run

A WARNING
--Never allow the engine to run in confined
spaces, because this increases the risk of as­
phyxiation .
@ Tips
-If you shift into the D or N position after
shifting into reverse, the vehicle must be
driven faster than 6 mph (10 km/h) in order
for the engine to switch off again .

Cruise control system
Switching on
Applies to vehicles: with cr uise contro l system
The cruise control system makes it possible to
drive a constant speed that is 30 km/h or higher.

The speed is kept constant by modifying engine power or through an active brake intervention.
A WARNING
- Always pay attention to the traffic around
you when the cruise control is in operation.
You are always responsib le for your speed

and the distance between your vehicle and
other vehicles.
- For safety reasons, cruise control should not
be used in the city, in stop-and-go traffic, on
winding roads and when road cond itions are
poor (such as ice, fog, gravel, heavy rain and
hydroplaning), because this increases the
risk of an accident.
- Switch the cruise control off temporarily
when dr iv ing in turning lanes, h ighway ex its
or in construction zones.
- Please note that unconsciously "resting" your foot on the accele rator pedal p revents
the cruise control from braki ng. This is d ue
to the contro l system being over ridden by
the dr iver's acceler ation.
- I f a brake system malfunction such as over­
hea ting occurs when the cruise cont ro l sys­
tem is swit ched on, the braking f unction in
the system may be switched off. The rest o f
the cruise co ntrol system f unctions remain
active as long as the indicator light

Changing speed

If, however, you exceed your saved speed by
6 mph (10 km/h) for longer than 5 m inutes, the
c ruise control will turn off temporarily. The green

Indicator lights
• Ready:
The indicator light turns on when the
system is ready for use. The system can now be
operated .
• Not ready: The indicator light turns on if the
system is switched on but is inoperable . This may
be due to the following reasons :
- There is no lane marker line.
- The relevant lane marker lines are not detected
(for example, markings in a construction zone
or because they are obstructed by snow, dirt,
water or backlighting).
- The vehicle's speed is below the speed needed
to activate it, which is about 40 mph (65 km/
h).
- The lane is narrower than about 8 ft. (2.5 m) or
wider than 15
ft (4.5 m).
- The curve is too sharp.
Audi active lane assist
- The driver's hands are not on the steering
wheel.
