from functioning properly. Always check the
TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or
more ti
res or whee ls on your veh icle to ensure
that the replacement or alternate tires and
wheels
allow the TPMS to conti nue to functi on
p roper ly .
If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
indicator appears
The tire pressure indicator in the instrument
cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too low
or
if there is a system malfunction.
Using the ABS sensors, th e tire p ressure monitor­
i n g
system compares the tire tread circumfer­
ence and vibra tion char
acteristi cs of the individ u­
al tires.
If the pressure changes in one or more
tires,
this i s indicated in the Infotainment system
d isp lay
with an ind icator light RI and a message .
If only one tire is affected , the location of that
tire will be ind icated.
The tire pressures must be stored in the Infotain­
ment system again each time the pressu res
change (switching between partial and full load
pressure) or
after changing or replacing a tire on
your veh icle ¢ page 269. The tire pressure moni­
toring system only monitors the tire pressure you
have stored. Refe r
to the tire pressure label for
the recommended tire pressure for your veh icl e
¢page260, fig.195.
Tire tread circumference and vibration character­
istics
can change and cause a tire pressure warn­
i n g if:
-
the tire p ressure in one or more tires is too low.
-
the tire has structural damage .
-
the tire was replaced or the tire pressure was
changed and
it was not stored¢ page 269.
-the spare tire* is installed .
Indicator lights

Under certain condit ions (such as a sporty
driving style, wi

roads), the pressure

Do not use run-flat tires on your vehicle . Us­
ing them when not perm itted can lead to
veh icle damage or accidents.

Care and cleaning
General information
Regular, proper care helps to maintain your vehi­
cle's value.
It can also be a requirement when
submitting warranty claims for corrosion damage
and
paint defects on the body .
The necessary care products
can be obtained
from your authorized Audi dealer. Read and fol­
low the instructions for use on the packaging.
A WARNING
-Using cleaning and care products incorrectly
can be dangerous to your health.
-Always store cleaning and care products out
of reach of children to reduce the risk of po i­
so
ning.
@ For the sake of the environment
- Preferably use environmentally-friendly
products when buying cleaning agents.
-
Do not dispose of leftover cleaning and care
products
with household trash.
Car washes
The longer that deposits remain on the vehicle,
the more the surface may be damaged. High
temperatures such
as those caused by sunlight
increase the damag ing effect.
Before washing, ri
nse off heavy deposits with
plenty of water.
Stubb orn depos its such
as bird droppings or tree
sap are best removed with plenty of water and a
microfiber cloth.
Also, wash
the underside of your vehicle once
road
salt stops being used for the season.
Pressure washers
When washing your vehicles with a pressure
washer, always
follow the operating instructions
provided
with the pressure washer. This is espe­
cially
important in regard to the pressure and
spraying distance.
Do not direct the stream of
cleaning solution directly onto the side window
seals, doors, luggage
compartment lid or hood,

tires, rubber hoses, insulating material or sen­

Keep a distance of at least 16 in (40 cm).
Do not remove snow and ice with a pressure
washer.
Never use rotary nozzles
or high pressure noz­
zles.
The
water temperature must not be above 140 °F

Automatic car washes
Spray off the vehicle before washing.

ke su re that the windows are closed and the
windshield wipers a re off. Follow instructions
from the car was h operato r, espec ially if there
a re accessories attached
to your vehicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
b rushes.
Washing by hand
Clean the vehicle starting from the top and work­
ing down using a soft sponge or cleaning brush.
Use solvent-free cleaning products.
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint by
hand
To avoid damaging the paint when washing, first
remove dust and large particles from your vehi­
cle. Insects, grease spots and fingerprints are
bes t removed
with a special cleaner for matte
finish paint.
Apply th e p roduct using a microfiber cloth. To
avoid damagin g t he paint surface, do not use too
much pressu re.
Rinse the vehicle thorough ly with water. Then

an using a neutral shampoo and a soft micro ­
fiber cloth .

nse the vehicle thoroughly again and let it air
dry. Remove any water residue using a shammy.

A WARNING
The windshield may not be treated with wa­
ter-repelling windshield coating agents. Un­
favorable conditions such as wetness, dark­
ness, or low sun can result in increased glare.
Wiper blade chatter is also possib le.

-Headlights /tail lights
-Never clean headlights or tail lights with a
dry
cloth or sponge.
-Do not use any cleaning product that con­
tains a lcohol, because they could cause
cracks to form.
-Wheels
- Never use any paint polish or other abra-
sive materials.

-Damage to the protective layer on the
rims such as stone chips or scratches must
be repaired immediately.

-Remove snow and ice on windows and ex-
terior mirrors with a plastic scraper. To
avoid scratches, move the scraper only in
one direction a nd not back and forth.

dows and mirrors us ing warm o r hot water

- To avoid damage to the rear window de­
fogger, do not apply any stickers on the
heating wires on the inside of the window.

Emergency assistance
General information
"'Park th e vehicle as far as possible from moving
traffic in the event of a flat tire. In the event of
a flat tire, park the vehicle on a level surface. It
you are on a steep incline, be especially careful.
"'Set the parking brake.
"'Place the selector lever in the P position.
"'Switch the emergency flashers on.
"'Have the passengers exit the vehicle. They
should move to a safe place, for example be­
hind a
guard rail.
A WARNING
Follow the steps given above. This is for your
protection and the for the safety of other driv­
ers.

The vehicle tool kit, tire mobility kit and com­
pressor are stored in the luggage compartment
u nder the ca rgo floor cover.
"'Push on the plastic handle and lift up the cargo
floor.
"'Open the cargo floor.
Completely retract the vehicle jack arm before
storing the vehicle jack* .
A WARNING
Improper use of the vehicle jack can ca use se­
rious personal inju ries .
Emergency assistance
- Never use the screw driver hex head to
tighten wheel bolts, since the bolts cannot
attain the necessary tightening torque if you
use the hex head, potentially causing an ac­
cide nt.
- The
factory-supplied jack is intended only
for your vehicle model. Under no circum­
stances should it be used to lift heavy
vehicles or other loads; you risk injuring
yourself.
- Never
start the engine when the vehicle is
raised, which could cause an accident.
-Support the vehicle securely with a ppropri­
ate stands if wo rk is to be performed under­
neat h the vehicle; otherwise, there is a po­
tential risk for injury.
- Never
use the jack supplied with your Audi
on another veh icle, particularly on a heavier
one. The jack is only suitable for use on the
vehicle it came with.

The vehicle jack* in your vehicle is mainte­
nance-free.

Operating your vehicle
outside the U.S.A. or
Canada
Government regulations in the United States and
Canada require that automobiles meet specific
emission regulations and safety standards.
Therefore, vehicles built for the U.S.A. and Cana­
da differ from vehicles sold in other countries.
If you plan to take your vehicle outside the conti ­
nental limits of the United States or Canada,
there is the possi bility that:
- unleaded fuels for vehicles with catalytic con­
verter may not be available;
- f
uel may have a considerably lower octane rat­
ing. Improper fuel may cause engine damage;
-ser vice may be inadequate due to lack of proper
service facilities, tools or testing equipment;
-replacement parts may not be readily available.
-Navigation systems for vehicles built for the
U.S.A. and Canada will not necessarily work in
Europe , and may not work in other countries
outside North America.

Maintenance
General
Your vehicle has been designed to help keep
maintenance requirements to a minimum. How­
ever, a
certain amount of regular maintenance is
still necessary to assure your vehicle's safety,
economy and reliability. For detailed vehicle
maintenance consult your Warranty & Mainte­
nance booklet.
Under difficult operating conditions, for exam­
ple
at extremely low outside temperatures, in
very dusty regions, etc., some service work
should be performed between the intervals speci­
fied. This
applies particularly to:
- oil
changes, and
- cleaning or replac ing the a ir filte r.
~ For the sake of the environment
By reg ularly maintaining your vehicle, you
help
make sure that emission standards are
maintained, thus minimizing adverse effects
on the environment.
Important considerations for you and your
vehicle
The increasing use of electronics, sophisticated
fuel injec tion and emission control systems, and
the generally increasing technical complexity of
today's automobiles, have steadily reduced the ~

carried
out by vehicle owners. Also, safety and

mental concerns place very strict limits
on the nature of repairs and adjustments to en­
gine and transmission parts which an owner can
perform.
Maintenance,
adjustments and repairs usually re­
quire special tools, testing devices and other
equipment available to specially trained work­
shop personnel in order to assure proper per­
formance, reliability and safety of the vehicle and
its many systems.
Improper maintenance, adjustments and repairs
can impair the operation and reliability of your
vehicle and even void your vehicle warranty.
Therefore, proof of servicing in accordance w ith
the maintenance schedule may be a condition for
upholding a possible
warranty claim made within
the warranty period.
Above all,
operational safety can be adversely af­
fected, creating unnecessary risks for you and
your passengers.
If in doubt about any ser vicing, have it done by
your authorized Audi dealer or any other properly
equipped and qualified workshop. We strongly
urge you to give your authorized Audi dealer the
opportunity to perform all scheduled main te­
nance
and necessary repairs. Your dealer has the
facilities, original parts and trained specialists to
keep your vehicle running properly.
Performing limited maintenance yourself
The follow ing pages describe a limited number of
procedures which can be performed on your vehi­
cle with ordinary
tools, should the need arise and
trained personnel be unavailable. Before per­
forming any of these procedures, always thor­
oughly read all of the applicable text and careful­
ly follow the instructions given. Always rigorously
observe the WARNINGS provided .

Consumer information
A WARNING
-Serious personal injury may occur as a result
of improperly performed maintenance, ad­
justments or repairs.
-Always be extremely careful when working
on
the vehicle. Always follow commonly ac­
cepted safety practices and general com­
mon sense. Never risk personal injury.

Do not attempt any of the maintenance,
checks or repairs described on the following
pages if you are not fully familiar with these
or other procedures with respect to the ve­
hicle,
or are uncertain how to proceed.

Do not do any wor k without the proper tools
and equipment. H ave the necessary work
done by your authorized Audi dealer or an­
other properly equipped and qualified work­
shop.
-The engine compartment of any motor vehi­
cle is a
potentially hazardous area. Never
reach into the area around or touch the radi­
ator fan. It is temperature controlled and
can switch on suddenly -even when the en­
gine is off. The
radiator fan switches on au­
tomatically when th e coolant reaches a cer­
tain temperature and will continue to run
until the coolant temperature drops.
- Always switch off the ignition before anyone
gets under the vehicle.
- Always
support your vehicle with safety
stands if it is necessary to work underneath
the vehicle. The jack supplied with the vehi­
cle is
not adequate for this purpose and
could collapse causing serious personal in­
jury.
-
If you must work underneath the vehicle
with
the wheels on the ground, always make
sure the vehicle is on level ground, that the
wheels are always securely blocked and that
the engine cannot be started.
-Always make sure the transmission selector
lever (automatic transmission) is in P (Park
position) and the pa rk brake is applied. .,..
