Power top
-Visibility to the rear is limited when operat­
ing the power top. Avoid operat ing the top
wh ile driving in reverse.

- To prevent damage to the power top:
- do not store any objects in the power top
storage compartment.
- make sure there is enough space above
the vehicle when opening or clos ing the
powe r top.

- To prevent the vehicle battery from dra ining

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
sponding position:

I n vehicles with a ra in senso r*, the wipe rs turn o n
in the ra in once the vehicle speed exceeds ap ­
p roximate ly 2 mph (4 km/h). The h igher the sen ­
sitivity of the rain sensor* is set (switch @to the
right), the earlier the winds hield wipers react to
mo isture on the windshield. You can deact ivate
the ra in sensor mode* in the Infotainment sys­
tem, which switches the intermittent mode on.

switch the ignition on.
C lean the headlights*. The headlight washer sys­
tem* only functions when the lights are switched
on. The headlights are automat ically cleaned the
f irst time and every fifth t ime the lever is moved

- If there is frost, make sure the windshield
w iper blades are not frozen to the wind­
shield. Switching on the w indshield w ipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­ shield can damage the w iper blades.
- The windshie ld w iper system must be
sw itched off (lever in posit io n 0) before us­
ing a car wash. This prevents the w ipers
from switc hing on un intent io nally and caus­
ing damage to the winds hield wiper system.

- T he windsh ie ld w ipers sw itch off when the
ign ition is switched off. You can activate the
w indshield w ipe rs after the ignition is
sw itched back on by mov ing the w indshield
w iper lever to a ny posi tion.

Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms , cools and re­
moves humidity from the air in the vehicle inte ri­
or. It functions most effective ly w hen the w in ­
dows are closed. If there is a build -up of heat in ­
side the vehicle, venti lation can help to speed up
the cooling process .
Pollutant filter
The pollutant filte r removes pollutants such as
d ust and pollen from the a ir.
Key recognition
Certain settings are automat ically stored and as­
signed to the remote contro l key being used .
A WARNING
Poor vis ibili ty ca n lead to ac cidents .
- For safer d riving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow a nd fog.
- Become fam ilia r as qu ickly as possible with
the correct use and function of the cl imate
c o ntro l system, espe cially with the defrost­
ing and defogg ing func tion.
- Whe n the tempe ratu re is below free zing,
o nly use the win dshi eld washer sys tem after
the wi nds hield ha s been war med by t he cli ­
mate co ntro l sys tem. The washer fluid co ul d
freeze on the w indshield and impair visibili ­
ty .

Avoid full acceler ation
You sho uld rare ly t rave l a t t he maxim um vehicle
speed . High speeds cause a disproportionately
h igh increase in fuel consumption, emissions and
traffic noise . Slower driving saves fuel.
Reduce idling time
It pays off to stop the eng ine, for example when
at ra ilroad crossings or traffi c lights w ith longer
red lights . Stopping the engine for 30 -40 sec­
onds already saves more fuel than the amount of
extra fuel needed to restart the engine.
I t takes a very long time in idle to wa rm the en­
gine up to operating tempera ture . Wea r and
emissions are especially high in the warm -up
p hase . Therefore, you should begin driving im ­
mediately after starting the engine. Avoid high
RPMs while do ing th is.
Hav e ma intenanc e performed r egularly
By having maintenance performed regu lar ly on
your vehicle, you can he lp to reduce fuel con ­
sumption before yo u even start to drive. The
maintenance condition of your vehicle not only
affects traffic safety and long-term va lue but al­
so impacts
fu el con sumpt ion .
A poorly maintained engine can lead to fuel con ­
sumpt ion that is 10% higher than norma l.
A lso check the
o il l evel when refueling . The oil
consumpt ion
depends large ly on the engine load
and speed. It is normal for the oil consumption
of a new eng ine to reach its lowest point only af­
ter a certain amount of use. Therefore, the oil
consumption can only be properly judged after
approx imately 3,000 m i (S,000 km) have been
driven.
Avoid short trips
The engine and exhaust clean ing system must
reach their opt imal
op erating temp eratur e to ef­
fective ly reduce consumpt ion and emiss ions.
A co ld engine uses a disproportionately h igh
amount of fuel. The eng ine reaches operating
temperature and consumpt ion normalizes only
afte r approx imately
2.5 miles (4 km) .
Driving

Do not leave engine idling unattended after
start ing. If warning lights sho uld come on to
i ndicate improper operation, they would go
unheeded. Extended idling also produces
heat, which could resu lt in overheating or
other damage to the veh icle o r other proper­
ty.

Adjusting the steering wheel position
The steering wheel position is fully adjustable up
and down and forward and back .

Incorrect use of the steering wheel adjust­

-Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel so
that there is at least a 10 in (25 cm) d is­
tance between your c hest an d the steering
wheel.
If you do not mainta in this dis tan ce,
you will not be p roper ly protec ted by t he air­
bag system.
- If your physical character istics preven t you
from sit ting at least 1 0 in (25 cm) or more
away from the steering wheel, see if an a u­
tho rized Aud i dea le r or a uthorized Audi
Service Facility can provide adapters that
will help.
- If your face is leve l w ith the steering
wheel,
the a irbag does not prov ide as much protec­
t ion during a collision. A lways make sure
that the steering wheel is level with your
chest.

tions to reduce the risk of injury if the airbag
deploys .
- Never hold the steering wheel in the 12
o'clock position or with both hands on the

nificant ly increases the risk of injury to the
hands, a rms and head if the airbag deploys.

malfunction
It may not be possible to start the engine under
certain circumstances, for example if the battery
in the vehicle key i s drained, if in terferen ce is af­
fe cted the key or if there i s a system malfunc­
tion.

Drivin g
- If the power sup ply fai ls, you cannot set the
parking brake if it is release d. In this case,
park the vehicle on level ground an d secure
it by placing the selector lever in the P posi­
t ion . See an authorized Aud i d ealer or au­
thorized Aud i Serv ice Facility for ass istance.
- If you leave the veh icle, switch the ignit ion
off and take the vehicle key w ith you . This
applies particularly when children remain in
the vehicle. Othe rwise children could sta rt
the engine, re lease the par king brake o r op­
erate electrical equipment such as power
windows, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent.
- No one shou ld remain in the vehicle when it
is locked - especially chi ldren . Locked doors
make it more diff icu lt for emergency work­
ers to get into the vehicle, which puts lives
at risk.
(D Tips
When stopping at a traffic signal or stopping in city traffic, you can set the parking brake
manually. The vehicle does not have to be
he ld w ith the brake pedal. The parking brake
elim inates the tendency to creep when a se­
lector lever pos ition is engaged. As soon as
you press the accelerator pedal, the park ing
brake releases automat ica lly and your vehicle
s tarts to move

- Occasiona l noises when the par king b rake is

available when the vehicle begins driving, de­ pending on vehicle equipment.
Starting on hills with th e parking brake set

the parking b rake and beg in driving as usual.
The b raking force of the pa rking brake does not
release automat ic a lly until t he whee ls build up
enoug h driving force .
Starting on hills with hill hold assist
Hill hold assist makes it easier to start on hills .
Requirement: the driver 's door must be closed
and t he engine must be running.
"' To activate hi ll hold assist, press and hold the
brake pedal for severa l seconds. The vehicle
must be in an uphill direct ion of travel.
After re leasing the brake pedal, the braking pow ­
er is maintained for a brief
moment~ A to pre ·
vent the vehicle from ro lling back when starting.
D ur ing this time, you can easily begin to move
your vehicle.
A WARNING
Applies to: vehicles with hill hold assist
-If you do not beg in dr iving immed iate ly or
t he engine stalls after releasing the bra ke
pedal, your veh icle may beg in to roll back ­
ward . Press the bra ke peda l or set the park­
ing brake immediately.
- The inte lligent technology of hill ho ld assist
cannot ove rcome the limitat ions imposed by
natural phys ica l laws. The increased com fort
offered by hill hold assist should not cause
you to take safety risks .
- Hill hold ass ist cannot hold the vehicle in
place on all hills (for examp le, if the ground
is s lippery or icy).
- To reduce the r is k of an accident, always
make sure the veh icle is situated safely
while stationary .

Inte rlock button
The in terlock button in the selector lever handle
prevents you from moving the selector lever in ­
advertently while in some selector lever posi­
tions. The positions that require the interlock
button to be pressed are marked in color in the il­
lustration

tor lever positions on page 63.

-If the se lector lever does not engage, there
i s a malfunction. The engine is d isabled to
prevent the vehicle from driving off unin­
tentiona lly . To allow the selector lever to
engage aga in , proceed as follows:
-Briefly press the brake pedal.
-If the vehicle does not move forward or in
reverse even thoug h a drive position is se­
lected, proceed as follows:
-> If the veh icle does not move in the desired
direction, the system may not have engaged
the drive pos it ion correctly. Press the brake
pedal and select the drive position again.
->If the veh icle st ill does not move in the de­
s ired direction, there is a system malfunc­
tion. See an authorized Audi dea ler or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance
to have the system checked .
Driving tips
The transmission shifts up and down automati­
cally when in the driving gears.

Kick-down enables maximum acc ele ration .
When you press the accele rato r peda l dow n be­
yond the resistance po int, the automatic trans ­
miss io n downshifts into a lower gea r and the
en ­
gine utilizes its f ull power, depending on veh icle
speed and engine RPM . It shifts up into the next
h igher gear once the maximum spec ified engine
RPM is reached.
A WARNING
Please note that the wheels could spin on
slick or slippery roads when kick -down is
ac­
t ive .
Launch Control Program

The Launch Control Program enables maximum
acceleration .
Requirement: the eng ine must be at operating
temperature and the steer ing whee l must not be
turned.

.. Pu ll the selector lever back out of the "D/S" po­
s ition briefly to select the "S" position, or press
i t toward the r ight into the tiptron ic posit ion or
select the

.,. Press t he b rake peda l firmly with you r left foot
and hold it all the way dow n fo r a t least 1 sec ­
ond.

.. At the same time, press the gas peda l all the
way down with your rig ht foot until the engine
reaches and stays at a hig h RPM leve l.
.. Remove your left foot from the brake.
A WARNING
-Always adapt your driving to the traff ic flow.
- On ly use Launch Control when road and traf-
fic conditions allow it and other drivers w ill
not be endange red or impacted by your dr iv­
ing and the vehicle's acceleration .
- Please note that the d rive wheels can spin
and the vehicle can b reak away when spo rt
mode is switched on, especially when the
road is slippery.
- Once the vehicle has started mov ing, press
the
IB OFF I button b riefly to turn the spor t
mode
off.
(D Tips
- The transmission temperat ure may increase
significant ly after using the launch control
prog ram . If that happens, the prog ram may
not be ava ilab le for a few minutes. I t will be
avail able ag ain afte r a coo l-down period.
- Whe n accelerating using the launch contro l
prog ram, all vehicle pa rts a re subje ct to
he avy loads. This c an le ad t o incre ased
wea r.
Transmission malfunction
• Tran smiss ion: malfunction! Plea se stop ve­
hicle and shift to P
There is a ma lf u nction in the transm ission. Park
t h e ve hicle secure ly and do not continue driving .
See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized A udi
Service Facility for assistance .
• Transmission : too hot . Ple ase stop vehicle

aged. Stop and let the t ransmiss io n coo l w it h t he
