M ore fo rce is needed to steer and bra ke the mov ­
in g vehicle w hen the engine is stopped . If the ve­
hi cle is roll ing, try to b ring it to a stop off to the

E SC o r ASR (Anti-Slip Regula tion) is ac tively regu­
l at ing.

swi tched the ESC off . In t his case, yo u can switch
the ignit io n off and then on to switch the ESC on
agai n. Th e indi cator lig ht t urns off whe n the sys­

Tachometer
The tachometer displays the engine speed in rev­
olutions per minute (RPM) .
The beginning of the red zone in the tachometer
indicates the maximum perm iss ib le engine speed
for all gears once the engine has been broken in
and when it is warmed up to operating tempera­
ture. Before reaching the red zone, you should
sh ift into the next h igher gear, choose the Do r S
selecto r lever posi tion, or remove you r foot from
the ac cele rator peda l.

The needle in the tachometer may only be in
t he red a rea of the gauge for a short per iod of
time or there is a risk of damaging the engine.
T he loca tio n where the red zo ne begins varies
de pending o n the engine.

The trip odometer shows the distance driven
since it was last reset.
It can be used to meas ure
short distances .
The trip odometer can be reset to zero by press­ ing the reset button 10.01

Malfunction indicator
If there is a malfunction in the instr ument clus­
ter,
DEF will appear in the trip o dome ter disp lay.
Have the malfunction corrected as soon as possi­
ble.

T he short -term memory collects driv ing in forma ­
tion from t he time the ignition is switc hed on un ­
t il it is switched off. If you continue driving w ith­
in two hours after sw itch ing the ignit ion off , the
new values are included when ca lculating the cur­
rent t rip information .
U nli ke the short-te rm memory, the long-term
memory is not erased automatically. You can
se­
lect t he time period for evaluating trip informa­
t ion yourse lf .
Fuel consumption
T he current f uel consumption can be shown us ­
ing a bar graph . The average consumption stored
in the short-term memory is also disp layed. If
the ba r is green, your vehicle is savi ng fuel
t hr ough one of the following functions :
-Recuperation: electrical energy can be stored in
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is coast ing
or driving downhil l. The bar will move toward
D .

Power top
Power top
General information
The power top opens and closes automat ica lly .
When open , the power top is stored completely
in the power top compartment . The power top
can be opened or closed at speeds up to 30 mph (SO km/h).
Under normal conditions , the power top is wind ­
and waterproof. In rare cases, small droplets of
water may form under ext reme weather condi­
tions such as torrential or prolonged rain. That is normal and no cause for conc ern .
F ollow the care instruct ions to keep the power
top free of leaks and to maintain its appearance

following:
- Open and stow the power top only when it is
clean and dry . Stowing the power top when it is
damp can create imprints in it, and if it is left
that way for long periods of time, mi ldew and
other damage can fo rm . T o prevent scratch ing
or damaging the power top, do not use any
sharp-edged objects to remove ice and snow .
The rear window may be cleared w ith a stand ­
ard ice scraper .
- Do not leave the power top open for several
weeks or the creases in it may become discol­ ored .
- Do not open the power top when the tempera ­
ture is below 32 °F (0 °C) . The fabric in the
power top loses elast icity in s ub-zero tempe ra­
tu res .

hold the button during the entire process .

one-touch function
.. Switch the ignit ion on .
.. To open/close the power top all the way, briefly
pull/press the power top switch . It is not neces­
sary to ho ld the switch . The one-touch funct io n
is only avai lab le at speeds between 4 mph (6
km/h) and 30 mph (SO km/h).
The status of the power top is shown in the in­ strument cluster when operating the powe r top
switch .
A message will appear in the instrument cluster
if the power top cannot be opened or closed

A WARNING
-When operating the power top, make s ure
the func tion is not affected by wind or other
factors and that it does not interfere with
other drivers .
- Neve r drive when the power top is not
locked cor rect ly . The wind from driving
could cause the power top to open . This can
result in injuries and damage to the vehicle .
-Make sure no one will be injured by the pow­
er top supports and othe r moving compo­
nents when opening and closing the top.

In vehicles with a ll-weathe r lights, the front
lights are adjusted automatically so that yo u are

less likely to see g lare from your own head lights,
fo r example when driving on a wet road.
Automatic dynamic headlight range control
system*
Your vehicle is equipped with a headlight range
contro l system so that there is less g la re for on­
coming t raffic if the vehicle load changes. The
headlight range also adjusts automatically when
braking and accelerat ing.
Light function s
The following light funct ions may be ava ilable
depending on ve hicle equipment and only f unc­
tion when the light switch is in the AUTO posi ­
t ion.
Static cornering light* (vehicles with LED head ­
li ghts) - the corne ring light switches on automat­

highways or expressways . Intersections can a lso
be illuminated on veh icles w ith a navigat ion sys­
tem*.

- Autom atic headlig hts * are o nly in tended to

driver of responsi bility to check the head­
lights and to t urn them on manually based
on the current light and v is ibility conditions.

Entry /exit lighting

outside the vehicle when you unlock the vehicle
when it is dark . To switch on the function, select
Ent ry/ex it lighting .
The exit light ing fun ct io n illum inates the area
outside the vehicle when you turn the ignition o ff
an d open the driver 's door when it is dark. To
sw itch on the function, select
Entry /exit light·
ing .
The ent ry/exit lighting only wo rks when it is dar k
an d the light switch is in the
AUTO position.

Front passenger 's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slight ly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's exterior
mirror .
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn­ ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using .
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex) enlarge the
f ield of vision. However, they make objects in
the m irror appear smaller and farther away.
You may estimate incorrectly when you use
these mirrors to gauge your distance from the
vehicles behind you when changing lanes,
which increases the risk of an accident.
(D Note
If th e mirror housing was moved by outs ide
fo rces (such as an impact when maneuver ­
i ng), you must use the power fold ing funct ion
to fold the mirror a ll the way out . The mirror
housing must not be moved back into place
by hand because th is would impair the func­
tion of the mirror mechanism.
(D Tips
If the power adjusting function malfunctions,
the glass in both mirrors can be adjusted by
pressing on the edge of it by hand.

I n vehicles with a ra in senso r*, the wipe rs turn o n
in the ra in once the vehicle speed exceeds ap ­
p roximate ly 2 mph (4 km/h). The h igher the sen ­
sitivity of the rain sensor* is set (switch @to the
right), the earlier the winds hield wipers react to
mo isture on the windshield. You can deact ivate
the ra in sensor mode* in the Infotainment sys­
tem, which switches the intermittent mode on.

switch the ignition on.
C lean the headlights*. The headlight washer sys­
tem* only functions when the lights are switched
on. The headlights are automat ically cleaned the
f irst time and every fifth t ime the lever is moved

when the blades are frozen to the wind­ shield can damage the w iper blades.
- The windshie ld w iper system must be
sw itched off (lever in posit io n 0) before us­
ing a car wash. This prevents the w ipers
from switc hing on un intent io nally and caus­
ing damage to the winds hield wiper system.

- T he windsh ie ld w ipers sw itch off when the
ign ition is switched off. You can activate the

sw itched back on by mov ing the w indshield
