To replace the battery:
1. Separate the transmitter with a flat, thin objectinserted into the notch, located above themetal base.
2. Remove the old battery. Do not use a metal object.
3. Insert the new battery, positive side facing up.Replace with a CR2032 or equivalent battery.
4. Snap the transmitter back together.
Remote Vehicle Start
This feature allows you to start the engine from outsideof the vehicle. It may also start up the vehicle's heatingor air conditioning systems and rear window defogger.Normal operation of the system will return after the keyis turned to the ON/RUN position.
During a remote start, the climate control system willdefault to a heating or cooling mode depending on theoutside temperatures.
During a remote start, if your vehicle has an automaticclimate control system and heated seats, the heatedseats will turn on during colder outside temperaturesand will shut off when the key is turned to ON/RUN.If your vehicle does not have an automatic climatecontrol system, during remote start, you will need tomanually turn the heated seats on and off. SeeHeatedand Cooled Seatso n p a g e 2!5for additionalinformation.
Laws in some communities may restrict the use ofremote starters. For example, some laws may require aperson using the remote start to have the vehicle inview when doing so. Check local regulations for anyrequirements on remote starting of vehicles.
Do not use the remote start feature if your vehicle is lowon fuel. Your vehicle may run out of fuel.

For example, if the lock button and then the remote startbuttons are pressed again after the vehicle has beenrunning for five minutes, 10 minutes are added, allowingthe engine to run for 15 minutes.
The additional ten minutes are considered a secondremote vehicle start.
After your vehicles engine has been started two timesusing the remote vehicle start button, or a single remotestart with one time extension, the vehicle must bestarted with the key.
After the key is removed from the ignition, the vehiclecan be remote started again.
The vehicle cannot be remote started if the key is inthe ignition, the hood is not closed, or if there is anemission control system malfunction and the checkengine light comes on.
Also, the engine will turn off during a remote vehiclestart if the coolant temperature gets too high or if the oilpressure gets low.
Vehicles that have the remote vehicle start feature areshipped from the factory with the remote vehicle startsystem enabled. The system may be enabled ordisabled through the DIC. See“REMOTE START”underDIC Vehicle Customizationon page 4!57foradditional information.

PASS-Key®III+ Electronic
Immobilizer Operation
Your vehicle has PASS-Key®III+ (PersonalizedAutomotive Security System) theft-deterrent system.PASS-Key®III+ is a passive theft-deterrent system.
The system is automatically armed when the key isremoved from the ignition.
The system is automatically disarmed when the key isturned to ON/RUN, ACC/ACCESSORY or START fromthe LOCK/OFF position.
You do not have to manually arm or disarm the system.
The security light will come on if there is a problem witharming or disarming the theft-deterrent system.
When the PASS-Key®III+ system senses that someoneis using the wrong key, it prevents the vehicle fromstarting. Anyone using a trial-and-error method to startthe vehicle will be discouraged because of the highnumber of electrical key codes.
If the engine does not start and the security light onthe instrument panel cluster comes on when trying tostart the vehicle, there may be a problem with yourtheft-deterrent system. Turn the ignition off andtry again.
If the engine still does not start, and the key appears tobe undamaged, try another ignition key. At this time,you may also want to check the fuse, seeFuses andCircuit Breakerson page 7!108. If the engine still doesnot start with the other key, your vehicle needs service.

2. If the engine does not start after 5!10 seconds,especially in very cold weather (below 0°F or!18°C), it could be flooded with too much gasoline.Try pushing the accelerator pedal all the way to thefloor and holding it there as you hold the key inSTART for up to a maximum of 15 seconds. Wait atleast 15 seconds between each try, to allow thecranking motor to cool down. When the enginestarts, let go of the key and accelerator. If thevehicle starts briefly but then stops again, do thesame thing. This clears the extra gasoline from theengine. Do not race the engine immediately afterstarting it. Operate the engine and transmissiongently until the oil warms up and lubricates allmoving parts.
Notice:The engine is designed to work with theelectronics in the vehicle. If you add electricalparts or accessories, you could change the waythe engine operates. Before adding electricalequipment, check with your dealer/retailer. If youdo not, the engine might not perform properly.Any resulting damage would not be covered bythe vehicle warranty.
Adjustable Throttle and Brake Pedal
The vehicle has adjustable throttle and brake pedalsthat allow you change their positions.
The feature will not operate when the vehicle is inR (Reverse) or while using the cruise control.
The switch used to adjust the pedals is located on thecenter console below the climate control system.
Press the right and left arrows to move the pedals eithercloser or further from your body.
Before you start driving, fully press the brake pedal toconfirm the adjustment is right for you. While driving,make only small adjustments.
The vehicle has a memory function which allows thepedal positions to be saved and recalled. SeeMemoryFeatureso n p a g e 2!6for more information.

Rear Window Defogger
The rear window defogger uses a warming grid toremove fog from the rear window.
<(Rear Window Defogger):Press to turn the rearwindow defogger on or off. It automatically turns offafter it has been activated. The defogger can also beturned off by turning off the engine. Do not drive thevehicle until all the windows are clear.
Notice:Do not use a razor blade or sharp object toclear the inside rear window. Do not adhereanything to the defogger grid lines in the rear glass.These actions may damage the rear defogger.Repairs would not be covered by your warranty.
Heated Mirrors :For vehicles with heated outsiderearview mirrors, the mirrors heat to help clear fog orfrost from the surface of the mirror when the rearwindow defog button is pressed. SeeOutside HeatedMirrors on page 3!45.
Heated or Cooled Seats :For vehicles with heated andcooled seats, seeHeated and Cooled Seatsonp a g e 2!5.
Outlet Adjustment
Use the air outlets located in the center and on the sideof the instrument panel to direct the airflow.
Operation Tips
.Keep the hood and front air inlets free of ice, snow,or any other obstruction (such as leaves). Theheater and defroster will work far better, reducingthe chance of fogging the inside of the windows.
.When you enter a vehicle in cold weather, pressthe fan up button to the maximum fan level beforedriving. This helps clear the intake ducts of snowand moisture, and reduces the chance of foggingthe inside of the window.
.Keep the air path under the front seats clear ofobjects. This helps air to circulate throughout thevehicle.
.Adding outside equipment to the front of thevehicle, such as hood-air deflectors, may affect theperformance of the heating and air conditioningsystem. Check with your dealer/retailer beforeadding equipment to the outside of the vehicle.

Automatic Operation, If Equipped.
AUTO :Press the air delivery mode button until thissetting is selected to control the inside temperature, airdelivery, and fan speed. AUTO appears in the displaywhen automatic operation is active.
+/!(Increase/Decrease Temperature) :Pressthe + or!buttons to increase or decrease the cabintemperature. The rear control temperature display willshow the temperature setting increasing or decreasing.
The display only indicates climate control functionswhen the system is in rear independent mode.
Manual Operation
DC(Fan Control):Press these buttons on the rearseat audio control panel to increase or decrease theairflow. Pressing the fan up button when the system isoff will turn the system on. The air delivery mode willremain under automatic control.
+/!(Temperature Control) :Press these buttons toadjust the temperature of the air flowing into thepassenger area. Press the + button for warmer air andpress the!button for cooler air.
N(Air Delivery Mode Control):Press the modebutton to change the direction of the airflow in thevehicle. Repeatedly press the button until the desiredmode appears on the display. Multiple presses will cyclethrough the delivery selections.
Warning Lights, Gages, and
Indicators
Warning lights and gages can signal that something iswrong before it becomes serious enough to cause anexpensive repair or replacement. Paying attention to thewarning lights and gages could prevent injury.
Warning lights come on when there might be or there isa problem with one of the vehicle's functions. Somewarning lights come on briefly when the engine isstarted to indicate they are working.
Gages can indicate when there might be or there is aproblem with one of the vehicle's functions. Often gagesand warning lights work together to indicate a problemwith the vehicle.
When one of the warning lights comes on and stays onwhile driving, or when one of the gages shows therecould be a problem, check the section that explainswhat to do. Follow this manual's advice. Waiting to dorepairs can be costly and even dangerous.

Speedometer and Odometer
The speedometer shows the vehicle's speed in bothkilometers per hour (km/h) and miles per hour (mph).
The vehicle's odometer works together with the DriverInformation Center (DIC). The Trip odometer can be set.See“Trip Odometer”underDIC Operation and Displayson page 4!41for more information.
To check the odometer mileage while the vehicle is notrunning, press the trip stem on the instrument panelcluster.
If the vehicle ever needs a new odometer installed, thenew one will be set to the correct mileage total of theold odometer.
Trip Odometer
The trip odometer can show how far the vehicle hasbeen driven since the trip odometer was last set to zero.

Tachometer
The tachometer displays the engine speed inrevolutions per minute (rpm).
Safety Belt Reminders
Driver Safety Belt Reminder Light
When the engine is started, a chime sounds for severalseconds to remind a driver to fasten the safety belt,unless the driver safety belt is already buckled.
The safety belt lightflashes for severalseconds, then comes onsolid for several more.
This chime and light sequence are repeated if the driverremains unbuckled and the vehicle is in motion. If thedriver safety belt is already buckled, neither the chimenor the light comes on.

Passenger Safety Belt Reminder Light
For vehicles equipped with the passenger safety beltreminder light, several seconds after the engine isstarted, a chime sounds for several seconds to remindthe front passenger to buckle their safety belt. Thepassenger safety belt light, located on the overheadconsole, comes on and stays on for several seconds,flashes for several more seconds and then comes onsolid for several more.
This chime and lightsequence is repeated ifthe passenger remainsunbuckled and the vehicleis in motion.
If the passenger safety belt is buckled, neither thechime nor the light comes on.
The front passenger safety belt warning light and chimemay turn on if an object is put on the seat such as abriefcase, handbag, grocery bag, laptop or otherelectronic device. To turn off the warning light and orchime, remove the object from the seat or buckle thesafety belt.
Airbag Readiness Light
The system checks the airbag's electrical system forpossible malfunctions. If the light stays on it indicatesthere is an electrical problem. The system checkincludes the airbag sensor, the pretensioners, theairbag modules, the wiring and the crash sensing anddiagnostic module. For more information on the airbagsystem, seeAirbag System on page 2!74.
The airbag readiness lightcomes on solid for a fewseconds when the engineis started. If the light doesnot come on then, have itfixed immediately.

If the word ON or the on symbol is lit on the passengerairbag status indicator, it means that the right frontpassenger frontal airbag is enabled (may inflate).
If the word OFF or the off symbol is lit on the airbagstatus indicator, it means that the passenger sensingsystem has turned off the right front passenger frontalairbag.
If, after several seconds, both status indicator lightsremain on, or if there are no lights at all, there may be aproblem with the lights or the passenger sensingsystem. See your dealer/retailer for service.
{WARNING:
If the airbag readiness light ever comes on and
stays on, it means that something may be wrong
with the airbag system. To help avoid injury to
yourself or others, have the vehicle serviced right

Charging System Light
This light comes on brieflywhen the ignition key isturned to START, but theengine is not running, asa check to show it isworking.
If it does not, have the vehicle serviced by your dealer/retailer.
The light should go out once the engine starts. If it stayson, or comes on while driving, there could be a problemwith the charging system. A charging system messagein the Driver Information Center (DIC) can also appear.SeeDIC Warnings and Messageson page 4!48formore information. This light could indicate that there areproblems with a generator drive belt, or that there is anelectrical problem. Have it checked right away. If thevehicle must be driven a short distance with the light on,turn off accessories, such as the radio and airconditioner.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gage
This gage shows theengine coolanttemperature.
If the indicator on the gage moves towards the shadedarea on the thermostat, it means that the engine coolanthas overheated. If the vehicle has been operating undernormal driving conditions, pull off the road, stop thevehicle and turn off the engine as soon as possible.

Tire Pressure Light
For vehicles with a tirepressure monitoringsystem, this light comeson briefly when the engineis started. It providesinformation about tirepressures and the TirePressure MonitoringSystem.
When the Light is On Steady
This indicates that one or more of the tires issignificantly underinflated.
A tire pressure message in the Driver InformationCenter (DIC), can accompany the light. SeeDriverInformation Center (DIC)on page 4!41for moreinformation. Stop and check the tires as soon as it issafe to do so. If underinflated, inflate to the properpressure. SeeInflation - Tire Pressureon page 7!65for more information.
