Using Your Stored Preset Destinations
These destinations are available for selection whiledriving.
1. If the radio is already on with a map disc inserted,skip to Step 5.
2. PressOto turn the system on.
3. Insert the DVD map disc. See“Installing the MapDVD”underMapson page 5!14for moreinformation.
4. A caution may appear. Touch the OK screen buttonto proceed.
5. Press the DEST hard key.
6. Select one of the available preset destinationscreen buttons. A map screen, with the destinationmarked appears.
7. Select the route preference (Fastest, Shortest,or Other). The system calculates and highlights theroute.
8. Select the Start Guidance screen button. The routeis now ready to be started.

Canceling Guidance
Guidance is canceled once the final destination isreached. To cancel guidance prior to arrival at the finaldestination:
1. Press the DEST hard key.
2. Press the Cancel Guidance screen button.
3. Press OK to confirm.
Guidance Volume
Adjust the volume of voice guidance prompts:
1. Press the CONFIG hard key to enter the menuoptions, then press the CONFIG key repeatedlyuntil Nav is selected or touch the Nav screenbutton.
2. Press the Voice Prompt screen button.
3. Press the + (plus) or–(minus) screen buttons toincrease or to decrease the volume of the voiceprompts. The system responds with the adjustedvoice level.

Cleaning the Display
Use a soft clean cotton cloth dampened withclean water.

Nav (Navigation)
Press the CONFIG key to enter the configure menuoptions, then press the CONFIG key repeatedly untilNav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
Voice Prompt
Voice Prompt :Touch the Voice Prompt screen buttonto change the volume of the voice prompts or to turnvoice guidance on and off.
Volume :Touch the + (plus) or!(minus) screen buttonsto increase or to decrease the volume of the voiceprompts. The system will respond with the adjustedvoice level.
Voice Guidance :Touch the On or Off screen buttonsto turn voice instructions on and off while traveling ona planned route.
Route Preference
Touch the Route Preference screen button to changeroute options when the system calculates a route.
Allow Major Roads :This feature allows the system touse major roads when calculating a planned route.
Allow toll road :This feature allows the system to usetoll roads when calculating a planned route.
Allow ferry :This feature allows the system to useferries when calculating a planned route.
Allow time and seasonal restricted road :Thisfeature allows the system to use time restricted andseasonal roads when calculating a planned route.

To add or change the phone number of an addressbook entry:
1. Select the CONFIG hard key.
2. Select the NAV screen button.
3. Select the Edit/View Address Book screen button.
4. Select the address book entry to change.
5. Touch the Phone # screen button and usethe numeric keyboard to input or change thephone number.
6. Touch the OK screen button to save your changes,then touch the Back screen button to return to theAddress Book information screen.
To change the map icon of an address book entry:
1. Select the CONFIG hard key.
2. Select the NAV screen button.
3. Select the Edit/View Address Book screen button.
4. Select the address book entry to change.
5. Select the Icon screen button.
6. Select an icon from the list.
To add a voice tag to an address book entry:
1. Select the CONFIG hard key.
2. Select the NAV screen button.
3. Select the Edit/View Address Book screen button.
4. Select the Add Voice Tag screen button.
5. The system will ask for you to state the name.You will have four seconds to state the name.The system will respond back with the name andprompt you to repeat the name for confirmation.
To delete an address book entry:
1. Select the CONFIG hard key.
2. Select the NAV screen button.
3. Select the Edit/View Address Book screen button.
4. Select the address book entry to delete.
5. Press the Delete screen button to delete theaddress book entry.
6. A confirmation pop-up will display. Select Ok todelete; select Cancel to cancel the operation.
To delete the entire address book:
1. Select the CONFIG hard key.
2. Select the NAV screen button.
3. Select the Edit/View Address Book screen button.
4. A list of all the address book entries will display.Press and hold the Clear All screen button.
5. A confirmation pop-up will display. Select Ok todelete; select Cancel to cancel the operation.

Show Traffic ICONS :Select to display traffic icons onthe map screen. This function allows which trafficinformation displays.
Traffic Flow Status—This touch screen button is usedto enable or disable the green, yellow, red and orangearrows shown beside the roads and used to show thetraffic flow or extent of a traffic event.
.Black indicates a closed road segment
.Red indicates significantly impaired traffic flowwith average speed of less than 25 mph.
.Yellow indicates slightly impaired traffic flow withaverage speed between 25 and 45 mph.
.Green indicates normal traffic flow with averagespeed above 45 mph.
.Orange indicates construction.
Traffic flow data arrows display on the map when scaledup to eight miles.
Closed Road, Traffic Delays, Incidents, andAdvisories—These four touch screen buttons areused to select the traffic event ICONS that appear onthe map screens.
Alert for Approaching Traffic Events :When On, if anapproaching traffic event is within the alert range, one oftwo traffic alert pop-up screens display:
.With no route planned, while on expressways,Approaching Traffic Event without Avoid screendisplays.
.With route planned, Traffic Event on Route screendisplays.
If the Alert for Approaching Traffic Events is Off, thealert pop-up screen does not display.

Day :Touch this screen button and the system willmake the navigation screen background darken.
Monitor :From the DVD Setup screen, touch thisbutton to adjust the viewing angle of the DVD on thenavigation screen. This is not available on all DVDs.This button is not available for DVD audio

and right sides.
Touch theJbutton to fill the screen on the left and
right sides.
Touch thedbutton to fill the screen on the top and
bottom.
Settings :From the DVD Setup screen, touch thisbutton to change the default audio, subtitle, and menulanguages, parental level, audio, and to view the aspectof the DVD. These settings are not available on allDVDs. This button is not available for DVD audio.
Audio Language :Touch English, Francais, Espanol,Italiano, or Deutsch to change the default language thatthe DVD player uses for each disc. The audio languagemust be available on the disc. The audio language mayvary for each DVD.
Subtitle Language :Touch English, Francais, Espanol,Italiano, or Deutsch to change the default language ofthe subtitles that the DVD player uses for each disc.The subtitle language must be available on the disc.The subtitle language may vary for each DVD.

Menu Language :Touch English, Francais, Espanol,Italiano, or Deutsch to change the default language ofthe DVD video menus. The menu language must beavailable on the disc. The menu language may vary foreach DVD.
Parental Level :Touch this button to change the ratinglevel to only allow the play of DVDs with a certainrating. The rating selection is 1 through 8, with 1 KidsSafe being a G rating. If the 1 is selected, any DVD witha rating above G will not be able to be viewed withoutentering a password.
When the parental level is first entered a keyboard willappear on the display and a four-digit password willneed to be created. Type in a password that you will beable to remember. Once the password is created, youcan then select a rating level.
If you would like to change the rating level, press theParental Level button, then press the Password button.Type in the password and then change the rating level.
If the password has been forgotten, contact yourdealer/retailer.
This may not be available on all DVDs.
Aspect :Touch this button to change the aspect ratioof the DVD. This may not be available on all DVDs.
y(Next Track/Chapter):Press this hard key to go tothe next track or chapter. This button may not workwhen the DVD is playing the copyright information orthe previews.
z(Previous Track/Chapter):Press this hard key toreturn to the start of the current track or chapter. Pressthis button again to go to the previous track or chapter.This button may not work when the DVD is playing thecopyright information or the previews.
w(Tuning Knob):Turn this knob counterclockwiseone notch to go to the start of the current chapter/track,turn it again to go to the previous chapter/track. Turnthis knob clockwise to go to the next chapter/track.
DVD Messages
If Disc Read Error appears on the display and/or theDVD comes out, it could be for one of the followingreasons:
.If a disc was inserted with an invalid or unknownformat.
.If the disc is not from a correct region.
.If the map DVD disc was installed into the DVDaudio/video slot. See“Installing the Map DVD”underMapson page 5!14for more information.
.It is very hot. When the temperature returns tonormal, the DVD should play.

Do not add any label to a CD or DVD, it could getcaught in the player. If a CD or DVD is recorded on apersonal computer and a description label is needed,try labeling the top of the recorded CD or DVD with asoft marker.
Auxiliary Devices
The vehicle may have a rear entertainmentsystem (RSE) with a second and third row screen.The RSE has audio adapters to allow you to connectauxiliary devices. The audio can be heard through thespeakers or through the wireless or wired headphones.See“Audio/Video Jacks”under,Rear SeatEntertainment (RSE) System (Overhead)on page 4!77orRear Seat Entertainment (RSE) System (HeadrestDVD)on page 4!86for more information.
Drivers are encouraged to set up any auxiliary devicewhile the vehicle is in P (Park). SeeDefensive Drivingo n p a g e 6!2for more information on driver distraction.
To switch the RSE system to use an auxiliary device:
1. Connect the auxiliary device to the RSE system,for the second or third row.
2. Press the AUDIO key then press the AUDIO keyrepeatedly until AUX (auxiliary) is selected or touchthe AUX screen button. An auxiliary device mustbe connected for the AUX screen button to appearas an option to select.

Storing Voice Tags
From the address book entry information page, pressthe Add Voice tag screen button. The system responds“Name Please?”and you will have four seconds torecord a name. The system asks for confirmation of thename before saving it as a voice tag.
Navigation Help
Navigation Help :This command instructs the systemto assist with navigation commands.
Display Commands
Use the following display commands to set thedisplay mode.
Display [set] day [mode] :Sets the display todaytime mode.
Display [set] night [mode] :Sets the display tonight mode.
Display [set] auto [mode] :Sets the display toautomatic mode. The system changes between day andnight mode automatically.
System help :Instructs the system to assist withdisplay commands.
Radio Commands
The following are radio commands that can beaccessed by clearly stating the commands exactly asthey are written.
Radio [band] [select] AM, radio [band] [select] FM,radio [band] [select] XM, radio [band] [select]satellite :Instructs the system to go to either theAM, FM, or XM (if equipped).
Radio [select] (frequency) AM, radio [select](frequency) FM :Instructs the system to go to aspecific frequency on either AM or FM.
Radio [select] (channel) XM, radio [select] (channel)satellite :Instructs the system to go to a specificchannel on the XM™band (if equipped).
Radio help :Instructs the system to assist with radiocommands.

For persons under 21, it is against the law in everyU.S. state to drink alcohol. There are good medical,psychological, and developmental reasons forthese laws.
The obvious way to eliminate the leading highwaysafety problem is for people never to drink alcohol andthen drive.
Medical research shows that alcohol in a person'ssystem can make crash injuries worse, especiallyinjuries to the brain, spinal cord, or heart. This meansthat when anyone who has been drinking—driver orpassenger—is in a crash, that person's chance ofbeing killed or permanently disabled is higher than ifthe person had not been drinking.
Control of a Vehicle
The following three systems help to control the vehiclewhile driving—brakes, steering, and accelerator. Attimes, as when driving on snow or ice, it is easy to askmore of those control systems than the tires and roadcan provide. Meaning, you can lose control of thevehicle. SeeStabiliTrak®System on page 6!6.

Using ABS
Do not pump the brakes. Just hold the brake pedaldown firmly and let antilock work. The brakes mightvibrate or some noise might be heard, but this isnormal.
Braking in Emergencies
ABS allows the driver to steer and brake at the sametime. In many emergencies, steering can help morethan even the very best braking.
Brake Assist
This vehicle has a Brake Assist feature designed toassist the driver in stopping or decreasing vehiclespeed in emergency driving conditions. This featureuses the stability system hydraulic brake control moduleto supplement the power brake system under conditionswhere the driver has quickly and forcefully applied thebrake pedal in an attempt to quickly stop or slow downthe vehicle. The stability system hydraulic brake controlmodule increases brake pressure at each corner of thevehicle until the ABS activates. Minor brake pedalpulsations or pedal movement during this time is normaland the driver should continue to apply the brake pedalas the driving situation dictates The Brake Assistfeature will automatically disengage when the brakepedal is released or brake pedal pressure is quicklydecreased.
StabiliTrak®System
The vehicle has a vehicle stability enhancement systemcalled StabiliTrak. It is an advanced computer controlledsystem that assists the driver with directional control ofthe vehicle in difficult driving conditions.
StabiliTrak activates when the computer sensesa discrepancy between the intended path and thedirection the vehicle is actually traveling. StabiliTrakselectively applies braking pressure at any one of thevehicle's brakes to assist the driver with keeping thevehicle on the intended path.
When the vehicle is started and begins to move, thesystem performs several diagnostic checks to insurethere are no problems. The system may be heard or feltwhile it is working. This is normal and does not meanthere is a problem with the vehicle. The system shouldinitialize before the vehicle reaches 20 mph (32 km/h).In some cases, it may take approximately two miles ofdriving before the system initializes.
If cruise control is being used when StabiliTrakactivates, the cruise control automatically disengages.The cruise control can be re-engaged when roadconditions allow. SeeCruise Control on page 4!8.
