Temporary control of gear
changing

The  gears  engaged  are  displayed  in Â

The
 gear  change  requests  are  only  acted  on  if Â

he  engine  speed  permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
during
 gear  changes.
When
 braking  or  slowing  down,  the  gearbox Â

hanges  down  automatically  to  allow  the Â
v
ehicle  to  accelerate  in  the  correct  gear.
On
 sharp  acceleration,  the  gearbox  will  not Â

hange  up  unless  the  driver  acts  on  the Â

teering  mounted  paddles.

To engage reverse gear R,  the  vehicle  must  be  i

Engagement of reverse gear is accompanied b
y  an  audible  signal.
At
 low  speed,  if  reverse  gear  is  requested,  the Â

 indicator  flashes  and  the  gearbox  goes  into Â

eutral  automatically.  To  engage  reverse,  put Â
t
he selector lever in position N , then position R.Before
 switching  off  the  engine,  you  can:

ove  to  position  N  to  engage  neutral,
or

eave  the  gear  engaged;  in  this  case,  it  will Â

ot  be  possible  to  move  the  vehicle.
Stopping the vehicle
In both cases, if automatic operation of the e
lectric  parking  brake  has  been  deactivated, Â

ou  must  apply the parking brake

by  pulling Â
t
he  control  lever.
When
 immobilising  the  vehicle,  with Â
t
he  engine  running,  you  must  place  the Â
s
elector lever in neutral N .
Before
 carrying  out  any  work  in  the Â
e
ngine  compartment,  ensure  that  the Â
s
elector lever is in neutral N  and  that Â
t
he  parking  brake  is  applied.
Whatever
 the  circumstances,  you  must Â

anually  apply  the  parking  brake  when Â

arking,  if  automatic  operation  has Â

een

eactivated. With
 the  ignition  on,  the  flashing  of  A or
AUTO ,  accompanied  by  an  audible  signal  and Â

 message,  indicates  a  malfunction  of  the Â

earbox.

ngine  speed  allow;  other wise  the  automatic Â

aws  of  operation  are  imposed  temporarily.
If
 the  engine  speed  is  too  high  or  too  low, Â

he  display  of  the  gear  selected  flashes  for  a Â

ew  seconds,  then  the  new  gear  engaged  is Â
d
isplayed.It
 is  possible  to  change  mode  at  any Â
t
ime,  by  moving  the  gear  selector Â

Before switching off the engine, you can change  to  position  P or N  to  be  in  neutral. Â

n  either  case,  apply  the  parking  brake  to Â

mmobilise  the  vehicle,  unless  it  is  programmed Â

If the lever is not in position P ,
 on  opening  the Â

river's  door  or  approximately  45  seconds  after Â

witching  off  the  ignition  there  is  an  audible Â

ignal  and  a  message  appears:

Operating fault

In all circumstances, ensure that the gear  selector  is  in  position  P before
leaving
 your  vehicle. In the event of a fault with the
gearbox,

Operation
Gear efficiency indicator
System which reduces fuel consumption by recommending the most suitable gear.
T he  system  adapts  its  gear  change Â

ecommendation  according  to  the Â

riving  conditions  (slope,  load, ...)  and Â
t
he  demands  of  the  driver  (power, Â
a
cceleration,  braking, ...).
The
 system  never  suggests:
-
Â
e
ngaging  first  gear,
-
 enga
ging
 r
everse
 g
ear,
Example:
The
 information  appears  in  the  instrument Â
p
anel  in  the  form  of  an  arrow.
On
 vehicles  with  manual  gearbox,  the  arrow Â
c
an  be  accompanied  by  the  recommended Â
g
e a r.
Depending
 on  the  driving  situation  and  your Â
v
ehicle's  equipment,  the  system  may  advise Â
y
ou  to  skip  one  or  more  gears.
You
 can  follow  this  instruction  without  going Â
t
hrough  the  intermediate  gears.
The
 gear  engagement  recommendations  must Â
n
ot  be  considered  compulsory.
This
 is  because  the  configuration  of  the  road, Â
t
raffic  density  and  safety  remain  important Â
f
actors  in  the  choice  of  the  best  gear.
The
 gear  efficiency  indicator  system  does  not Â
r
eplace  the  need  for  vigilance  on  the  part  of  the Â
d
river. -

he  system  may  suggest  that  you  engage Â

 an  electronic  or  automatic  gearbox,  the  system  is  only  active  in  manual  mode.

 BlueHDi  Diesel  135  and  150  versions  with Â

anual  gearbox,  in  certain  driving  conditions Â

he  system  may  suggest  changing  into  neutral Â
s
o  that  the  engine  can  go  into  standby  (STOP Â
m
ode  with  Stop  &  Start).  In  this  case,  N is
displayed
 in  the  instrument  panel. This
 function  cannot  be  deactivated.

Stop & Start
The Stop & Start system puts the engine temporarily into standby - STOP mode - during stops in the traffic (red lights, traffic jams, or other...). The engine  restarts  automatically  -  START  mode  -  as  soon  as  you  want  to  move  off.  The  restart  takes  place  instantly,  quickly  and  silently.
