Cruise control - "CRUISE"
System which automatically maintains the speed of the vehicle at the value programmed by the driver, without any action on the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control system cannot, in any circumstances, replace the need to observe speed limits, nor can it replace the need for vigilance on the part of the driver.
Y ou  are  advised  to  keep  your  feet  near  the  pedals  at  all  times.
Switching on the cruise control requires a
minimum  vehicle  speed  of  25  mph  (40  km/h).
As
 well  as  engagement  of:
-
Â
f
ourth  gear  or  higher  on  a  manual  gearbox,
-
Â
s
econd  gear  or  higher  in  manual  mode  on Â
a
n  automatic  gearbox,
-
position D
 on  an  automatic  gearbox.
The
 system  remains  active  after  changing  gear Â
o
n  vehicles  with  a  manual  gearbox  and Â
Stop
 &  Start.
The cruise control is paused
Â
by  pressing Â
b
utton 4  or  the  brake  pedal  or  on  triggering  of Â
t
he  ESC  system  for  safety  reasons.
It
 is  possible  to  exceed  the  programmed  speed Â
t
emporarily  by  pressing  the  accelerator  pedal.
To
 return  to  the  programmed  speed,  simply Â
r
elease the accelerator pedal until the
programmed
 cruise  speed  is  reached  again.1.

Exceeding the programmed
speed
If the cruise speed setting is exceeded, the displayed  speed  flashes.
The
 display  becomes  steady  again  once  the Â
v
ehicle  returns  to  the  cruise  speed  setting.
Switching off

Switching on
Once the cruise control is switched on, you
can modify  the  cruising  speed  in  one  of  the Â

The active cruise control must be selected in
the Driving menu.

The
 cruise  control  is  activated  (ON).
By default, the inter-vehicle time is set at
2Â seconds.
Other wise, the last speed value set will be used
for
 operation  of  the  system.
Modification of the cruise control
speed

In the event of the presence of a
vehicle detected by the radar, if the
speed selected  is  much  higher  than Â

he speed of that vehicle, the system
is
 not  activated  and  the  alert  message Â

 is  displayed  until  driving Â

onditions are safe to allow activation of
the
 system.

Modification of the inter-vehicle
distance
Press button 6 to choose a new inter-vehicle
distance  setting  from  the  3  available  ("Close ",
" Normal ", "Distant ").
This value remains in memory, whatever the
state
 of  the  system.
It
 is  possible  to  exceed  the  speed  setting Â
t
emporarily  by  depressing  the  accelerator Â
ped
al.
Then simply release the accelerator pedal to
return
 to  the  programmed  speed.
If
 the  speed  setting  is  unintentionally  exceeded, Â
d
escending  a  steep  hill  for  example,  the  speed Â
s
etting  in  the  instrument  panel  flashes  as  a Â
w
arning.

 system  uses  engine  braking  to  slow  your  vehicle  and  then  hold  it  at  the  speed  of Â

he  vehicle  in  front  so  as  to  maintain  the  programmed  inter-vehicle  time.
The
 regulation  range  is  limited  to  a  maximum  difference  of  20  mph  (30  km/h) Â

etween  the  speed  setting  and  the  speed  of  the  vehicle  ahead.
"SPEED ADJUSTED" When
 the  adjusted  speed  reaches  the  control  limit  (speed  setting  -  20  mph Â
(
30 km/h)),  the  adjusted  speed  flashes  together  with  the  speed  setting,  to  signal  that Â
a
utomatic  deactivation  of  the  system  is  imminent.
"Cruise control
paused" If
 the  system  exceeds  the  limit  of  speed  adjustment  possible  by  the  system  and Â
i
n the absence of any reaction by the driver (operation of the direction indicator,
change
 of  lane,  reduction  of  the  speed  of  the  vehicle),  the  system  is  automatically Â
pa
used.
The
 display  of  the  deactivation  message  is  accompanied  by  an  audible  signal.
Driving situations and associated alerts
The table below describes the alerts and the messages displayed for the different driving situations.

When the dynamic cruise control is
automatically paused, it can only be
reactivated when safe conditions are
restored. The  message  "Activation Â
no
t possible, conditions unsuitable"
is displayed while reactivation is not
possible.
When the conditions allow, it is
recommended that the system be
reactivated
 by  pressing  button  2 or 3,
which
 will  make  the  current  speed  of Â
y
our vehicle the new cruise speed
setting,
 rather  than  by  pressing  button  4
(on/pause)
 which  reactivates  the  system Â
u
sing  the  old  cruise  speed  setting, Â
w
hich may be very different from the
current
 speed  of  your  vehicle. The
 dynamic  cruise  control  uses  only  engine  b
raking  to  slow  the  vehicle.  Consequently  the Â
v
ehicle  loses  speed  slowly,  as  when  releasing Â
t
he  accelerator  pedal.
The
 system  is  paused  automatically:
-
i
f the vehicle in front slows down too much
or too suddenly, and the driver does not
brake,
-
i
f a vehicle comes between your vehicle
and the vehicle in front,
-
i
f the system does not slow the vehicle
enough
 to  continue  to  maintain  a  safe Â
d
istance,  for  example  when  descending  a Â
s
teep  hill.
Limits of operation
As the radar's field of view is quite narrow, it is possible  that  the  system  may  not  detect:
The
 cruise  control  does  not  take  account  of:
-
s
tationary vehicles,
-
Â
v
ehicles  driving  in  the  opposite  direction.
-
v
ehicles of reduced width, such as
motorcycles,
 for  example,
-
Â
v
ehicles  not  running  in  the  middle  of  the Â
lan
e,
-
Â
v
ehicles  entering  a  corner,
-
Â
v
ehicles  changing  lane  at  the  last  moment.

In the event of a fault with the dynamic cruise
control, you  are  alerted  by  an  audible  signal Â

nd  the  display  of  the  message  "Driving  aid Â

Have
 the  system  checked  by  a  CITROËN Â
d
ealer  or  a  qualified  workshop. When
 the  cruise  control  is  working,  take Â
c
are  if  making  a  maintained  press  on Â
o
ne  of  the  cruise  control  programmed Â
s
peed  modification  buttons:  this  can Â
l
ead  to  a  very  quick  change  in  the Â
s
peed  of  your  vehicle.
Do not use the dynamic cruise control
on
 slippery  sur faces  or  in  heavy  traffic.
When
 descending  a  steep  hill,  the Â
c
ruise control may not be able to
prevent
 the  vehicle  from  exceeding  the Â
pro
grammed
 s
peed.
When
 ascending  a  steep  hill  or  when Â
t
owing,  it  might  not  be  possible  to  attain Â
o
r  maintain  the  programmed  speed.
Operating fault
The operation of the radar, located in
the front bumper, may be disturbed by
accumulations of  grime  (dust,  mud...) Â
o
r in certain weather conditions (snow,
ice...).
The
 message  "SYSTEM  INACTIVE: Â

isibility  reduced"  is  displayed  to  signal Â
t
hat the system has been put into
st a n dby.
Clean
 the  front  bumper  regularly.
The use of mats not approved by
CITROËN may inter fere with the
