Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n ,
t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f i n t e n t i o n a l l y .
This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front airbag
is deactivated.
In this case you can install a
"rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to
activate the passenger's front airbag. In
t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a c h i l d s e a t i n t h e r e a r -
facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into
service automatically when the vehicle is
started ( ON position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located in the
middle of the dashboard, is
pressed. Its indicator lamp is
on.
The ESP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR.
Its indicator lamp switches off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated
automatically when the vehicle is started.
If deactivated, the system is reactivated
automatically from approximately 30 mph
(50 km/h).

Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the vehicle is being driven,
the switching on of one of the following warning lamps indicates
a fault which requires action on the part of the driver.
Any fault resulting in the switching on of a warning lamp must be investigated further by reading the associated message
on the multifunction screen.
If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact a CITROËN dealer.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
STOP fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d
with another
warning lamp. It is associated with a
punctured tyre or the engine
coolant temperature. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a
CITROËN dealer.
Service temporarily.
A minor fault has occurred
f o r w h i c h t h e r e i s n o s p e c i fi c
warning lamp. Identify the fault by reading the message
shown on the screen, such as, for
example:
- the closing of the doors, boot, rear
screen or bonnet,
- the remote control battery,
- the tyre pressures,
- s a t u r a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r (Diesel).
For any other faults, contact a CITROËN
dealer.

Anti-lock
Braking System (ABS) fi x e d .
The anti-lock braking system
has a fault. The vehicle retains conventional braking.
Drive carefully at reduced speed and
contact a CITROËN dealer without delay.
Electric
parking brake fl a s h i n g . The application or release of
the electric parking brake was
interrupted. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Park on level ground, switch off the
ignition and contact a CITROËN dealer.

Electric
parking brake fault fi x e d .
The electric parking brake is
faulty. Contact a CITROËN dealer without delay.
The parking brake can be released
manually using the emergency release
procedure.
For more information on the electric parking
brake, refer to the "Driving" section.
Braking fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d
with the STOP warning lamp. T h e b r a k i n g s y s t e m fl u i d l e v e l
is too low. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do
so.

functions are deactivated or
faulty. Activate the function (according to country)

contact a CITROËN dealer.

Dynamic
stability control
(ESP/ASR) fl a s h i n g .
The ESP/ASR regulation is
active. The system optimises traction and improves
the directional stability of the vehicle.
fi x e d . Unless it has been deactivated
with the indicator lamp on
the button on, the ESP/ASR
system is faulty. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Engine
autodiagnosis system fi x e d .
The emission control system
has a fault.
This lamp should switch off when the engine is sta
rted.
If it does not switch off, contact a CITROËN deale r
urgently.
fl a s h i n g . The engine management
system has a fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic convertor.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Airbags temporarily.
This lamp comes on for a few
seconds when you turn on the
ignition, then switches off.
This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.
If it does not switch off, contact a CITROËN deale
r.
fi x e d . One of the airbag or seat belt
pretensioner systems has a
fault. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.

Low fuel level fi x e d ,
accompanied
by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction screen. W h e n i t fi r s t c o m e s o n t h e r e
remains
approximately
7 litres of
fuel in the tank. You must refuel as soon as possible to
avoid running out of fuel.
This warning lamp will come on every time
t h e i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o n , u n t i l s u f fi c i e n t
fuel has been added.
Fuel tank capacity: 60 litres.
Never continue to drive until you run out
of fuel, this could damage the emission
c o n t r o l a n d i n j e c t i o n s y s t e m s .
Foot on the
brake pedal fi x e d .
The brake pedal is not
pressed. With the 6-speed electronic gearbox
system, you must press the brake pedal to
start the engine (lever in position
N ).
fl a s h i n g . The brake pedal is not
pressed.
With the automatic gearbox, with the
engine running (lever in position
P ), press
the brake pedal before releasing the
parking brake, to unlock the lever and
come out of position P .
If you wish to release the parking brake
without pressing the brake pedal, this
warning lamp will remain on.
With the electronic gearbox
system, if you hold the vehicle
on an incline using the
accelerator for too long, the
clutch overheats. Use the brake pedal and/or the electric
parking brake.

coolant

The temperature of the
cooling system is too high. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Wait until the engine has cooled down
before topping up the level, if necessary.
If the problem persists, contact a
CITROËN dealer.
Battery
charge fi x e d . The battery charging circuit
has a fault (dirty or loose
terminals, slack or cut
alternator belt, ...). The warning lamp should go off when the
engine is started.
If it does not switch off, contact a
CITROËN dealer.
Door(s) open fi x e d i f t h e s p e e d
is below 6 mph (10 km/h).
A door, the boot or the rear
screen is still open. Close the door or boot.
fi x e d a n d
accompanied by
an audible signal if the speed is above 6 mph (10 km/h).

Seat belts
not fastened/ unfastened fi x e d . The driver and/or the front/
rear passenger has not
fastened or has unfastened
their seat belt.
Pull the strap then insert the tongue in the buckl
e. The illuminated dots represent the passengers
that have not fastened/unfastened their seat belt.
They come on:
- fi x e d f o r 3 0 a b o u t s e c o n d s o n s t a r t i n g
the vehicle,
- fi x e d f r o m 0 t o 1 2 m p h ( 0 t o 2 0 k m / h ) when driving,
- fl a s h i n g a b o v e 1 2 m p h ( 2 0 k m / h ) , accompanied by an audible signal for
about 120 seconds.

Service indicator
System which informs the driver
when the next service is due, in ac-
cordance with the manufacturer's
servicing schedule.
The point at which the service is due
is calculated from the last indicator
zero reset. It is determined by two
parameters:
- the distance travelled,
- the time elapsed since the last
service. 5 seconds after the ignition is switched
on,
the spanner is switched off ; the
distance recorder resumes its normal
operation. The display then indicates
the total and trip distances.
Less than 620 miles (1 000 km)
remain before the next service is due
Example: 558 miles (900 km) re-
main before the next service is due.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates: Service overdue
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on,
t h e s p a n n e r fl a s h e s
to indicate that the service must be
carried out as soon as possible.
Example: the service is overdue by
186 miles (300 km).
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the distance recorder
resumes its normal operation. The
spanner remains on to indicate that
a service must be carried out soon. 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the distance recorder
resumes its normal operation.
The
spanner remains lit .
More than 620 miles (1 000 km)
remain before the next service is
due
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the spanner symbol-
ising the service operations comes
on. The distance recorder display
line indicates the distance remaining
before the next service is due.
Example: 2 976 miles (4 800 km)
remain before the next service is
due.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:
The distance remaining may be
weighted by the time factor, depend-
ing on the driver's driving habits.
Therefore, the spanner may also
come on if you have exceeded the
two year service interval.

Service indicator zero reset
Engine oil level indicator
After each service, the service indi-
cator must be reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero
is as follows:
switch off the ignition,
press and hold the trip distance
recorder zero reset button,
switch on the ignition; the dis-
tance recorder display begins a
countdown,
when the display indicates "=0" ,
release the button; the spanner
disappears. System which informs the driver
whether the engine oil level is cor-
rect or not.
This information is displayed for a
few seconds when the ignition is
switched on, after the service infor-
mation.
The level read will only be correct if
the vehicle is on level ground and
the engine has been off for more
than 15 minutes.
Oil level correct
Oil level low
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL" , accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function screen.
I f t h e l o w o i l l e v e l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a
check using the dipstick, it is essen-
tial that the level is topped up to pre-
vent damage to the engine. Oil level gauge fault
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL--" . Contact a CITROËN dealer.
Dipstick
Refer to the "Checks" section to lo-
c a t e t h e d i p s t i c k a n d t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p
on your engine. There are 2 marks on
the dipstick:
- A = max; never ex-
ceed this level,
- B = min; top up the
l e v e l v i a t h e o i l fi l l e r
cap, using the type
of oil suited to your
engine.
Following this operation, if you wish
to disconnect the battery, lock the
v e h i c l e a n d w a i t a t l e a s t fi v e m i n u t e s
for the zero reset to be taken into ac-
count.

Distance recorders
The total and trip distances are dis-
played for thirty seconds when the
ignition is switched off, when the
driver's door is opened and when
the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
Measures the total distance trav-
e l l e d b y t h e v e h i c l e s i n c e i t s fi r s t
registration.
Trip distance recorder
Lighting rheostat
P e r m i t s m a n u a l a d j u s t m e n t o f t h e
brightness of the instruments and
controls in relation to the exterior
brightness. Only operates when the
vehicle lighting is on, with the excep-
tion of the daytime running lamps.
Activation
Press the button to change the
brightness of the instruments
and controls.
When the lighting reaches the
minimum setting, release the
button, then press again to in-
crease it.
or
When the lighting reaches the
maximum setting, release the
button, then press again to re-
duce it.
When the lighting reaches the
level of brightness required, re-
lease the button.
Deactivation
When the vehicle lighting is off, or
i n d a y m o d e o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h
daytime running lamps, pressing the
button does not have any effect.
Total distance recorder
Measures a distance travelled since
it was reset to zero by the driver.
With the ignition on, press and
hold this button until zeros ap-
pear.
