SPEED LIMITER
System which prevents the vehicle from
e x c e e d i n g t h e s p e e d p r o g r a m m e d b y
the driver.
When the limit speed is reached, the
accelerator pedal no longer has any
effect.
The speed limiter is switched
on manually: a speed of at least
2 0 m p h ( a p p r o x . 3 0 k m / h ) m u s t b e
programmed.
The speed limiter can in no way re-
place respect for speed limits or vigi-
lance and responsibility on the part
of the driver.
Steering wheel controls
The speed limiter switches are
located on the left-hand side of the
steering wheel.
Displays on the instrument panel
The speed limiter information is dis-
played in zone A of the instrument
panel.
Programming
Press on button 4 to select speed
limiter mode " LIMIT ".
T h e s e l e c t i o n i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e
display of the function in zone A of
the instrument panel. Activation
Press on button 3 when the desired
m a x i m u m s p e e d i s d i s p l a y e d .
The information "ON" then appears
in zone A .
When the function is selected, the
last memorised speed and the infor-
mation "PAUSE" are displayed.
With the engine running, you can
a d j u s t t h e m e m o r i s e d m a x i m u m
speed, displayed in zone A , by
pressing on:
Button 1 to increase the memo-
r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d .
Button 2 to decrease the memo-
r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d . Successive presses will modify the
m a x i m u m s p e e d i n s t e p s o f 1 m p h
and a continuous press in steps of
5 mph.

u n d e r e x c e s s i v e a c c e l e r a t i o n , t h e
speed limiter (which does not act
on the brakes) may not be able to
p r e v e n t t h e v e h i c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g
the programmed speed.
U s e o f a fl o o r m a t o t h e r t h a n t h a t
recommended by CITROËN may
affect the normal operation of the
accelerator pedal and hamper the
operation of the speed limiter.
Floor mats approved by CITROËN
a r e fi t t e d w i t h a 3 r d fi x i n g l o c a t e d i n
the pedal area to avoid any risk of
interference with the pedals.
Suspension/Resumption
Press on button 3 .
This action causes the information
"PAUSE" to appear in zone A of the
instrument panel.
This action does not cancel the
m e m o r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d w h i c h
remains displayed in zone A of the
instrument panel. Overriding the programmed
speed
The accelerator pedal has an end-
o f - t r a v e l s w i t c h . I n o r d e r t o e x c e e d
t h e m e m o r i s e d m a x i m u m s p e e d a t
any time, you can press the pedal
all the way down. While the speed
i s b e i n g e x c e e d e d , t h e s p e e d d i s -
played in zone
A w i l l fl a s h . Y o u h a v e
only to release the accelerator pedal
t o r e t u r n b e l o w t h e m a x i m u m s p e e d ,
to restore the function.
T h e s p e e d w i l l a l s o fl a s h i f t h e s p e e d
limiter is not able to prevent the vehi-
c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed (e.g. on a steep descent or
u n d e r e x c e s s i v e a c c e l e r a t i o n ) .
To reactivate the speed limiter, release
the accelerator to slow to a speed lower
than the programmed speed.
Return to normal driving
Either press on button 5 .
Or select the speed limiter function.
Or stop the engine.
Operating fault
If there is a malfunction, a message is
displayed accompanied by an audible
signal and lighting of the SERVICE
warning lamp.
Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer.

u s e d w h e r e t h e t r a f fi c c o n -
ditions permit driving at a
constant speed.
Do not use it on congested roads
or when the weather or the road
conditions are poor.
The driver still has to remain atten-
tive and in complete control of his
vehicle.
You are recommended to keep your
feet within range of the pedals.
Overriding the programmed
speed
While cruise control is in operation, it is
always possible to go above the pro-
grammed speed simply by pressing
t h e a c c e l e r a t o r p e d a l ( f o r e x a m p l e t o
overtake another vehicle).
The speed displayed in zone
A
fl a s h e s .
You only have to release the ac-
celerator pedal to return to the pro-
grammed speed.
Suspension/Resumption
Either by pressing the brake
pedal or the clutch pedal.
Or by pressing button 3 .
Or by the ESP or ASR systems
being active.
F o r v e h i c l e s w i t h a m a n u a l g e a r b o x ,
cruise control is deactivated if the
gear lever is in neutral. Reactivation

By recalling the memorised
speed
After deactivation, press button 3 .
Your vehicle automatically returns
to the memorised cruising speed.
The memorised speed and "ON"
are displayed in zone A .
If the memorised cruising speed is higher than the current speed, the
vehicle will accelerate strongly to
reach the current speed.
- By selecting the current speed
Press button 1 or 2 once the de-
sired speed has been reached.
The new speed and "ON" will
appear in zone A .
Return to normal driving
Either press on button 5 .
Or select the cruise control func-
tion.
Or stop the engine.
The speed that was chosen is no
longer memorised.
"PAUSE" will be displayed in zone A
of the instrument panel.
These actions do not cancel the
cruising speed which remains dis-
played on the instrument panel. Operating fault
If there is a malfunction, a mes-
sage is displayed accompanied by
an audible signal and lighting of the
SERVICE warning lamp.

Reactivation
In bad weather or in winter, ensure
that the sensors are not covered with
mud, ice or snow. When reverse gear
is engaged, an audible signal (long
beep) indicates that the sensors may
be dirty.
Press button A again, the warn-
ing lamp switches off, the system
is reactivated.
"HYDRACTIVE III+" ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION
The suspension automatically and
instantly adjusts to different driving
s t y l e s a n d t o t h e p r o fi l e o f t h e r o a d ,
providing the best compromise be-
tween occupant comfort and vehicle
road holding.
It allows you to alternate between
s o f t a n d fi r m s u s p e n s i o n s e t t i n g s ,
m a x i m i s i n g c o m f o r t a t t h e s a m e
time as permanently guaranteeing
the highest level of safety. It also
automatically corrects road holding,
according to the vehicle load and
driving conditions.
Also, the "Hydractive III+" suspen-
sion gives you the possibility of
choosing between two modes of
suspension.
A change of suspension mode can
be made either when the vehicle is
moving or when stationary, by press-
ing on button A . Display on the instrument
panel
The suspension mode selected is
displayed on the instrument panel
screen.
Normal mode
This mode favours soft
d a m p i n g f o r m a x i m u m c o m -
fort.
If the speed authorised for a
p a r t i c u l a r p o s i t i o n i s e x c e e d -
ed, the vehicle reverts automatically
to the normal road position.
SPORT mode
This mode favours dynamic
driving.
The warning lamp on button A
comes on in addition to the
message on the instrument
panel screen.
SPORT mode is retained when you
switch off the engine.

Vehicle positions
Maximum height
Changing a wheel (Not possible if
speed > 6 mph (10 km/h)).
Intermediate position
For an increased ground clearance
(Not possible if speed > 25 mph
(40 km/h)).
F o r u s e o n d i f fi c u l t r o a d s w h e n t r a v -
elling at reduced speed, as well as
on car park ramps.
Position changes may only be
made when the engine is running.
Adjustable ground clearance re-
sponds to all types of situation.
A p a r t f r o m a f e w s p e c i fi c s i t u a t i o n s ,
driving in the normal road position is
imperative.
Press once on one of the adjust-
ment controls.
The change in position is indicated
by a message on the instrument
panel screen.
Normal position
If the speed authorised for a particu-
l a r p o s i t i o n i s e x c e e d e d , t h e v e h i c l e
reverts automatically to the normal
position.
Minimum height
To facilitate loading or unloading the
vehicle.
For workshop inspections.
Not to be used in normal driving (Not
possible if speed > 6 mph (10 km/h)).

BONNET
Protects the components of the
engine and provides access for
checking levels.
Opening
Lift the lever B and raise the bonnet.
Unclip the strut C from its housing
and pivot it to insert it in the notch
D indicated by a yellow arrow.
F i x t h e s t r u t i n t h e n o t c h t o h o l d
the bonnet open. Closing
Take the strut out of the support
notch.
Clip the strut in its housing.
Lower the bonnet then slam it
fi r m l y a t t h e e n d o f i t s t r a v e l .
Pull on the bonnet to check that
it is secured correctly.
To avoid any risk of burns, only han-
dle the bonnet strut by its yellow
end.
The location of the interior control
prevents opening of the bonnet
while the front passenger’s door is
closed.
This operation must only be carried
out when the vehicle is stationary.
Avoid opening the bonnet in strong
winds.
Open the front passenger door.
Pull the interior control A , located
at the bottom of the door frame.

DRAINING THE DIESEL FUEL FILTER
Protective cover
Removal of the cover Draining water from the fuel
filter
Drain regularly (at each oil change).
To drain the water, slacken the bleed
screw or the water in diesel fuel sen-
s o r , l o c a t e d a t t h e b a s e o f t h e fi l t e r .
Continue until all the water has
fl o w e d o u t .
Then retighten the bleed screw or
the water detection sensor.
HDi 110, HDi 173 and V6 HDi 208
engines
Pull the protective cover upwards
to remove it.
HDi 138 engine
Remove the protective cover
b y fi r s t u n c l i p p i n g a t 3 , then 1
and 4.
Unclip at 2 by pulling towards
you, then lift up. R e fi t t i n g
Firstly clip in at 2 .
Lower and centre the cover.
Clip in at 3 and 4 , pushing verti-
cally and gently from the rear.
Clip in at 1 pushing vertically.

RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
HDi 110 engine
Unclip the protective cover
to gain access to the priming
pump. HDi 138 and HDi 173 engines
Unclip the protective cover
to gain access to the priming
pump.
Priming the fuel circuit
In the event of running out of fuel:
a f t e r fi l l i n g ( m i n i m u m 5 l i t r e s )
and removing the protective
cover, operate the manual prim-
ing pump, until some resistance
is felt,
operate the starter motor while
depressing the accelerator pedal
slightly until the engine starts. HDi engines are the result
of advanced technology.
All maintenance and repairs require
s p e c i a l q u a l i fi c a t i o n s w h i c h o n l y a
CITROËN dealer can guarantee.
V6 HDi 208 engine with electric
pump
In the event of running out of fuel:
after adding fuel, turn the ignition
key to position M , wait for a few
seconds,
operate the starter motor until
the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start after sev-
eral attempts, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
I f t h e e n g i n e f a i l s t o s t a r t a t t h e fi r s t
a t t e m p t , w a i t fi f t e e n s e c o n d s b e f o r e
trying again.
If the engine fails to start after a
few attempts, operate the priming
pump again and then try to start the
engine.
When the engine is idling, acceler-
ate slightly to complete the bleeding
of the circuit.
