Switching the device on
The system is automatically enabled on all the doors
by pressing button
twice on the key with remote
control.
The direction indicators flash twice to let you know
that the device is active.
If one or more of the doors is not perfectly shut, the
dead lock device will not be activated, thus
preventing a person getting into the car through the
open door and, on shutting, it, remaining stuck
inside the passenger compartment.
Switching the device off
The system is disabled automatically on every door
when:
by unlocking the doors;
by turning the ignition key to the ON position.
ALARM
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The alarm, in addition to all the previously described
remote control functions, is controlled by the
receiver located under the dashboard near the fuse
box.
ALARM TRIPPING
The alarm trips in the following cases:
unauthorised opening of a door, the bonnet, the
tailgate or a sliding side door (if present)
(perimeter protection)
unauthorized operation of the starting device (key
turned on using a key that is not enabled)
cutting of the battery leads
moving presence inside the passenger
compartment (volumetric protection)
anomalous lifting/tilting of the vehicle.
Depending on the market, the activation of the alarm
causes the activation of the siren and the direction
indicators (for about 26 seconds). Alarm tripping and
the number of cycles depend on the sales market.
There are a maximum number of acoustic/visual
cycles. When this is reached the system returns to
normal operation.
Volumetric and antilifting protections are disabled by
pressing the control button installed on the front
dashboard (see paragraph "Antilift protections).

WARNING
If a fuse blows again, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
Never replace a blown fuse with metallic
wires or other material.
WARNING
Never replace a fuse with another
having higher amperage; FIRE HAZARD.
WARNING
If a general protection fuse (MEGA-
FUSE, MIDI-FUSE) is activated, contact
a Fiat Dealership.
WARNING
Remove the key from the ignition and
switch off or disable all devices before
replacing a fuse.
WARNING
Contact Fiat Dealership if a safety
system (air bags, brakes), engine system
(engine, gearbox) or steering system general
protection fuse blows.
To identify the protective fuse, see the tables on the
following pages.
ENGINE BAY FUSE BOX
The fuse box is on the right-hand side of the engine.
Removing the fuse box cover
Proceed as follows:
remove protective lid A fig. 169 from the positive
battery terminal by lifting it upwards;

move the lid towards the headlight, turning it
anticlockwise (as shown by the arrow) and then
remove it fig. 171;
the fuse box can be accessed in this manner

If you need to clean the engine
compartment , take care not to direct the
jet of water specifically onto the engine
compartment wired casing.

Refitting the fuse box cover
To refit the cover proceed as follows:
insert the two tabs A fig. 172 in the respective
seats located on the fuse box;
refasten the tab B in the corresponding seat until
it clicks.

PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX
To access the fuses undo the two screws A fig. 174
using the metallic insert of the ignition key then
remove the flap B.
The fuses are located in the two fuse boxes shown in
fig. 175.

rinse thoroughly to avoid soap marks staying on
the bodywork or less visible parts.
Some car washes with old-style blades
and/or in a poor state of repair can
damage the paintwork, facilitating the
formation of lines that give the paint a dull/misty
appearance, especially on dark colours. If this
happens, lightly polish the paintwork with
appropriate products.
Dry the less visible parts particularly carefully, such
as the door frames, bonnet and the headlight frames,
where water may stagnate more easily. It is a good
idea to leave the vehicle outdoors for a while after
washing it to give water time to evaporate.
Do not wash the vehicle after it has been left in the
sun or with the bonnet hot: this may alter the shine
of the paintwork.
Exterior plastic parts should be cleaned in the same
way as the rest of the vehicle. Where possible, do
not park the vehicle under trees; the resinous
substances released by many species give the paint a
dull appearance and increase the possibility of rust.
IMPORTANT Bird droppings should be washed
off immediately and thoroughly as the acid
they contain is particularly aggressive.
Detergents cause water pollution.The
vehicle should be washed in areas
equipped for collecting and purifying the
liquid used in the washing process.
Windows
Use specific detergents to clean the windows. Also
use clean cloths to avoid scratching the glass or
altering the transparency.
IMPORTANT Wipe the rear window gently with a
cloth in the direction of the filaments to avoid
damaging the heating device.
Engine compartment
At the end of each winter, thoroughly wash the
engine compartment, taking care to avoid spraying
the water jet directly onto the electronic control
units and the relay/fuse box on the left side of the
engine compartment (as you look from behind
the wheel). Have this operation performed at a
specialist garage.
IMPORTANT The washing should take place with the
engine cold and the ignition key in the STOP
position. After the wash, make sure that the various
protective devices (e.g. rubber caps and guards)
have not been removed or damaged.
