SITTING IN THE CORRECT
POSITION
WARNINGS
Do not recline the seatback too faras this can cause the occupant toslide under the seatbelt, resulting inserious injury in the event of a collision.
Do not place objects higher than thetop of the seat backrest. Failure tofollow this instruction could result inpersonal injury or death in the event of asudden stop or crash.
When you use them properly, the seat,head restraint, safety belt and airbags willprovide optimum protection in the eventof a crash.
We recommend that you follow theseguidelines:
•Sit in an upright position with the baseof your spine as far back as possible.
•Do not recline the seatback more than30 degrees.
•Adjust the head restraint so that thetop of it is level with the top of yourhead and as far forward as possible.Make sure that you remaincomfortable.
•Keep sufficient distance betweenyourself and the steering wheel. Werecommend a minimum of 10 in(25 cm) between your breastbone andthe airbag cover.
•Hold the steering wheel with your armsslightly bent.
•Bend your legs slightly so that you canpress the pedals fully.
•Position the shoulder strap of thesafety belt over the center of yourshoulder and position the lap straptightly across your hips.
Make sure that your driving position iscomfortable and that you can maintain fullcontrol of your vehicle.
HEAD RESTRAINTS
WARNINGS
Fully adjust the head restraint beforeyou sit in or operate your vehicle. Thiswill help minimize the risk of neckinjury in the event of a crash. Do not adjustthe head restraint when your vehicle ismoving.
The head restraint is a safety device.Whenever possible it should beinstalled and properly adjusted whenthe seat is occupied. Failure to adjust thehead restraint properly could reduce itseffectiveness during certain impacts.
Adjust the head restraints for allpassengers before you drive yourvehicle. This will help minimize therisk of neck injury in the event of a crash.Do not adjust the head restraints whenyour vehicle is moving.

Note:Adjust the seatback to an uprightdriving position before adjusting the headrestraint. Adjust the head restraint so thatthe top of it is level with the top of your headand as far forward as possible. Make surethat you remain comfortable. If you areextremely tall, adjust the head restraint toits highest position.

1.Pull the head restraint up until itreaches its highest position.
2.Press and hold buttons C and D.
3.Pull the head restraint up.

Installing the Head Restraint
Align the steel stems into the guide sleevesand push the head restraint down until itlocks.
Folding the Head Restraint
1.Press and hold button E.
2.Pull the head restraint back up to reset.
Tilting Head Restraints
The front head restraints tilt for extracomfort. To tilt the head restraint, do thefollowing:
1.Adjust the seatback to an uprightdriving or riding position.
2.Pivot the head restraint forward towardyour head to the desired position.
After the head restraint reaches theforward-most tilt position, pivot it forwardagain to release it to the rearward, un-tiltedposition.
MANUAL SEATS
WARNINGS
Do not adjust the driver seat or seatbackrest when your vehicle ismoving. This may result in suddenseat movement, causing the loss of controlof your vehicle.
Do not recline the seatback too faras this can cause the occupant toslide under the seatbelt, resulting inserious injury in the event of a collision.
Do not place cargo or any objectsbehind the seat backrest beforereturning it to the original position.Pull on the seat backrest to make sure thatit has fully latched after returning the seatbackrest to its original position. Anunlatched seat may become dangerous ifyou stop suddenly or have a crash.
Make sure the seat fully locks intoplace by rocking it backward andforward. Not securing the seat intothe locked position can be dangerous in acrash and could cause serious personalinjury or death.

REAR SEATS
Flip and Fold Seat
With the seat unoccupied, lift the cushionand then fold down the seat back.
Lifting the Seat Cushion
WARNINGS
Do not use the bench seats as a bedwhen your vehicle is moving. Failureto follow this warning could result inserious personal injury or death.
When folding or unfolding the seats,take care not to get your fingerscaught between the seat backrestand seat frame. Failure to follow thiswarning could result in serious personalinjury.
Do not place any objects on a foldedseat. Hard objects may becomeprojectiles in a crash or sudden stop,which may increase the risk of seriouspersonal injury.
Insert your hand into the pull-strap on thecushion, lift upward on the cushion to flipit forward.
Lowering the Seat Cushion
WARNING
Make sure that the seat backrestsare secure and fully locked in theircatches.
Note:When lowering the cushion, makesure no foreign objects are trappedunderneath.

Lower the seat cushion to the full-downposition.
Folding the Seatback Down
Note:Do not attempt to fold the rear seatbackrest forward before flipping the seatcushion up and out from underneath it.
Note:When folding the seatback, makesure no foreign objects are trappedunderneath.
Note:Do not attempt to fold the rear seatbackrest forward before lowering the headrestraints. See Head Restraints (page 104).
Before folding the rear row seats, fold thehead restraint down by pushing the buttonlocated on the side of the head restraint.
When the seatback is in the upright andlocked position, depress the back-latchrelease button.
Fold the seatback forward until it rests onthe head restraints.

Folding the Seatback Upright
WARNING
When unfolding the seat, make surethat the seatbelts are not trappedbehind the seat.
Note:Make sure that the seat cushion andbackrests are secure and fully locked in theircatches.
With the seat free of foreign objects, liftthe seatback upright.
Secure the seatback in a fully upright andlatched position, the latches will besecured to the side-pillar mounted strikers.
