Receiving Calls
During an incoming call, an audible tonesounds. Caller information appears in thedisplay if it is available.
To accept the call, select:

Note:You can also accept the call bypressing the phone button on the steeringwheel.
To reject the call, select:

Reject
Note:You can also reject the call bypressing the phone button on the steeringwheel.
Ignore the call by doing nothing. SYNC 3logs it as a missed call.
During a Phone Call
During a phone call, the contacts nameand number display on the screen alongwith the call duration.
The phone status items are also visible:
•Signal Strength.
•Battery.
You can select any of the following duringan active phone call:
Item
Immediately end aphone call. You canalso press thebutton on thesteering wheel.
End Call
Press this to accessthe phone keypad.Keypad
You can switch themicrophone off sothe caller does nothear you.
Mute
Transfer the call tothe cell phone orback to SYNC 3.
Privacy
Text Messaging
Note:Downloading and sending textmessages using Bluetooth are cellphone-dependent features.
Note:Certain features in text messagingare speed-dependent and not availablewhen your vehicle is traveling at speeds over3 mph (5 km/h).

Receiving a Text Message
When a new message arrives, an audible tone sounds and the screen displays apop-up with the sender name and ID, if supported by your cell phone. You canselect:

You can select from 15 preset messages. Press the messagethat you would like to use and confirm to send the message.SYNC 3 confirms when the message is sent successfully.

Smartphone Connectivity (If Equipped)
SYNC 3 allows you to use Apple CarPlayand Android Auto to access your phone.
When you use Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto, you can:
•Make calls.
•Send and receive messages.
•Listen to music.
•Use your phone's voice assistant.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto disablesome SYNC 3 features.
Most Apple CarPlay and Android Autofeatures use mobile data.
Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay requires an iPhone 5 ornewer with iOS 7.1 or newer. Updating tothe latest iOS version is recommended.
1.Plug your phone into a USB port. SeeEntertainment (page 334).
2.Follow the prompts on thetouchscreen.
3.Follow the prompts that appear onyour phone to allow access to AppleCarPlay.
After completing the setup, your phoneconnects to CarPlay automatically whenplugged into a USB port.
To disable this feature from theSettings screen, select:

Apple CarPlay Preferences
Your device is listed if SYNC detectsApple CarPlay. Select the name of yourdevice and select:
Disable
To return to SYNC 3, go to the AppleCarPlay home screen and select the SYNCapp.

Android Auto
Android Auto is compatible with mostdevices with Android 5.0 or newer.

1.Download the Android Auto app toyour device from Google Play toprepare your device (this may requiremobile data usage).
Note:The Android Auto App may not beavailable within your current market.
2.Plug your device into a USB port. SeeUSB Port (page 301).
3.Follow the prompt on the touchscreen.
4.Follow the prompts that appear onyour device.
Note:You may be prompted to updateadditional apps on your device (this mayrequire mobile data usage).
To disable this feature from theSettings screen, select:

Note:You may need to slide your Settingsscreen to the left to select Apple CarPlayPreferences or Android Auto Preferences.
To return to SYNC 3, select thespeedometer icon in the Android Automenu bar at the bottom of thetouchscreen, and then touch the option toreturn to SYNC.

Changing the Format of the Map
Display the map in one of the followingformats:
•A two-dimensional map with thedirection you are traveling toward thetop of the screen.
•A two-dimensional map with northtoward the top of the screen.
•A three-dimensional map with thedirection you are traveling toward thefront.
Zoom
Display more or less detail on the map.
Note:You can use pinch gestures to zoomin and out. Place two fingers on the screenand move them apart to zoom in. Place twofingers on the screen and bring themtogether to zoom out.

Adjusting the Guidance PromptVolume
Turn the volume control when a guidanceprompt plays to adjust the volume.
Note:If you have inadvertently adjustedthe volume to zero, press the turn indicatorbutton to play the last voice prompt andthen adjust the volume to the desired level.
Muting Guidance Prompts
Select the mute option on thescreen to mute guidanceprompts.
Note:The system mutes the next and allfuture guidance prompts.
Note:When you mute guidance prompts,the color of the symbol changes to green.
Adding Waypoints
You can add a waypoint to a navigationroute as a destination along your route.You can add up to five waypoints.
1.Select the search option on the map.
2.Set a destination.
3.Select Add Waypoint.
4.Select Go.
Canceling Route Guidance
Select the route guidance menuoption on the active guidancescreen.
Select Cancel Route.

Navigation Map Updates
HERE is the digital map provider for thenavigation application. If you find map dataerrors, you may report them directly toHERE by going to www.here.com. HEREevaluates all reported map errors andresponds with the result of theirinvestigation by e-mail.
APPS
The system allows you interact with selectmobile apps while keeping your eyes onthe road. Voice commands, your steeringwheel buttons, or a quick tap on yourtouchscreen give you advanced control ofcompatible mobile apps. You can alsostream your favorite music or podcasts,share your time of arrival with friends, andkeep connected safely.
When you start an app through the systemfor the first time, you could be asked togrant certain permissions. You can reviewand change the permissions that you havegranted at any time when your vehicle isnot moving. We recommend that youcheck your data plan before using yourapps through the system. Using themcould result in additional charges. We also
recommend that you check the appprovider's terms and conditions andprivacy policy before using their app. Makesure that you have an active account forapps that you want to use through thesystem. Some apps will work with nosetup. Others require you to configuresome personal settings before you can usethem.

Using Apps on an iOS Device
Select the apps option on thefeature bar.
1.If your device is connected via USB,switch Apple CarPlay off. See Phone(page 343).
2.Connect your device to a USB port orpair and connect using Bluetooth.
3.If prompted to enable CarPlay, selectDisable.
4.Start the apps on your device that youwant to use through SYNC.
Note:If you close the apps on your device,you will not be able to use them through thesystem.
5.Select the app that you want to use onthe touchscreen.
Note:Connect your device to a USB port ifyou want to use a navigation app. Whenusing a navigation app, keep your deviceunlocked and the app open.
Using Apps on an Android Device
Select the apps option on thefeature bar.
1.If your device is connected via USB,switch Android Auto off. See Phone(page 343).

3.Start the apps on your device that youwant to use through SYNC.
Note:If you close the apps on your device,you will not be able to use them through thesystem.
4.Select Find Mobile Apps.
Note:The system searches and connectsto compatible apps that are running on yourdevice.
5.Select the app that you want to use onthe touchscreen.
Note:Mobile Apps on your device use theUSB port to establish a connection withSYNC. Some devices may lose the ability toplay music over USB when Mobile Apps areenabled.
Using Mobile Navigation on anAndroid Device
1.Connect your device to a USB port.
2.Switch Android Auto off. See Phone(page 343).
3.Switch on Enable Mobile Apps viaUSB in the Mobile Apps Settings tile.
4.Select the apps option on the featurebar.
5.Select the navigation app that youwant to use on the touchscreen.
Note:When using a navigation app, keepyour device unlocked and the app open.
SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link (If
Equipped)
