The indicator lamp is located under the climate controls. The indicator
lamp will illuminate for a short period of time when the ignition is turned
to the on position to confirm it is functional.
Note:When the passenger airbag off light is illuminated, the passenger
(seat mounted) side airbag may be disabled to avoid the risk of airbag
deployment injuries.
The front passenger sensing system is designed to disable (will not
inflate) the front passenger’s frontal airbag when the front passenger
seat is unoccupied, or a rear facing infant seat, a forward-facing child
restraint, or a booster seat is detected. Even with this technology,
parents arestronglyencouraged to always properly restrain children in
the rear seat. The sensor also turns off the passenger front airbag and
seat-mounted side airbag when the passenger seat is empty.
•When the front passenger sensing system disables (will not inflate)
the front passenger frontal airbag, the passenger airbag status
indicator will illuminate the OFF lamp and stay lit to remind you that
the front passenger frontal airbag is disabled.
•If the child restraint has been installed and the indicator lamp is not
lit, then turn the vehicle off, remove the child restraint from the
vehicle and reinstall the restraint following the child restraint
manufacturer’s instructions.
The front passenger sensing system is designed to enable (may inflate)
the front passenger’s frontal airbag anytime the system senses that a
person of adult size is sitting properly in the front passenger seat.
•When the front passenger sensing system enables the front passenger
frontal airbag (may inflate), the indicator will be unlit and stay unlit.
If a person of adult size is sitting in the front passenger’s seat, but the
pass airbag off indicator lamp is lit, it is possible that the person isn’t
sitting properly in the seat. If this happens:
•Turn the vehicle off and ask the person to place the seat back in the
full upright position.
•Have the person sit upright in the seat, centered on the seat cushion,
with the person’s legs comfortably extended.
•Restart the vehicle and have the person remain in this position for
about two minutes. This will allow the system to detect that person
and enable the passenger’s frontal airbag.
•If the indicator lamp remains lit even after this, the person should be
advised to ride in the rear seat.

Press the lock button on the key twice within three seconds. The horn
will sound and the turn signals will flash. We recommend you use this
method to locate your vehicle, rather than using the panic alarm.
Sounding a Panic Alarm (If Equipped)
Press the button to activate the alarm. Press the button again
or switch the ignition on to deactivate.
Note:The panic alarm will only operate when the ignition is off.
Remote Start (If Equipped)
WARNING:To avoid exhaust fumes, do not use remote start if
your vehicle is parked indoors or areas that are not well ventilated.
Note:Do not use remote start if your vehicle is low on fuel.
The remote start button is on the transmitter.
This feature allows you to start the vehicle from outside the vehicle.
The transmitter has an extended operating range.
Vehicles with automatic climate control can be configured to operate
when the vehicle is remote started. See theClimate Controlchapter for
more information.
Many states and provinces have restrictions for the use of remote start.
Check your local and state or provincial laws for specific requirements
regarding remote start systems.
The remote start system will not work if:
•the ignition is on
•the alarm system is triggered
•you disable the feature
•the hood is open
•the transmission is not inP
•the vehicle battery voltage is too low
•the service engine soon indicator was on the last time the vehicle was
driven.

MANUAL CLIMATE CONTROL
A.Fan speed control:Controls the volume of air circulated in your
vehicle. Adjust to select the desired fan speed or switch off. If you
switch the fan off, the windshield may fog up.
B.Recirculated air:Press to switch between outside air and
recirculated air. When you select recirculated air, the button illuminates
and the air currently in the passenger compartment recirculates. This
can reduce the time needed to cool the interior and reduce unwanted
odors from entering your vehicle.
C.Temperature control:Controls the temperature of the air circulated
in your vehicle. Adjust to select the desired temperature. If you select
MAX A/C, the system distributes recirculated air through the instrument
panel air vents. This mode is more economical and efficient than normal
air conditioning.
Note:When the temperature control is in the MAX A/C position, you
cannot turn off air conditioning or recirculated air.

air or manually adjust the temperature control. Press theAUTObutton
to return to auto mode.
E.MAX A/C:
Press to distribute recirculated air through the instrument
panel vents to cool the vehicle. Air conditioning automatically turns on, the
fan speed automatically adjusts to the highest speed and the temperature
display returns to the full cool position. This re-cooling of the interior air is
more economical and efficient than normal air conditioning. Recirculated
air may help reduce undesirable odors from entering the vehicle.

Temperature Control
You can set the temperature between 60°F (15.5°C) and 85°F (29.5°F)
in steps of 1°F (0.5°C). In positionLO,59°F (15°C), the system switches
to permanent cooling. In positionHI,86°F (30°C), the system switches
to permanent heating.
Single Zone Temperature Control
In this mode, the climate control system links the temperature settings
for both the driver’s side and passenger’s side. If you adjust the setting
using the rotary control on the driver’s side, the system adjusts the
temperature to the same setting on the passenger’s side.
Dual Zone Temperature Control
Select a temperature for the passenger’s side using the rotary control on
the passenger’s side. Single zone temperature control automatically
switches off. The temperature on the driver’s side remains unchanged.
You can now adjust the driver’s side and passenger’s side temperatures
independently. The display shows the temperature settings for each side.

HINTS ON CONTROLLING THE INTERIOR CLIMATE
General Hints
Note:Prolonged use of recirculated air may cause the windows to fog
up.
Note:You may feel a small amount of air from the floor air vents
regardless of the air distribution setting.
Note:To reduce humidity build-up inside your vehicle, do not drive with
the system switched off or with recirculated air always switched on.
Note:Do not place objects under the front seats as this may interfere
with the airflow to the rear seats.
Note:Remove any snow, ice or leaves from the air intake area at the
base of the windshield.
Manual Climate Control
Note:To reduce fogging of the windshield during humid weather, adjust
the air distribution control to the windshield air vents position. Increase
the temperature and fan speed to improve clearing if required.
Automatic Climate Control
Note:Adjusting the settings when your vehicle interior is extremely hot
or cold is not necessary. The system automatically adjusts to heat or cool
the cabin to your selected temperature as quickly as possible. For the
system to function efficiently, the instrument panel and side air vents
should be fully open.
Note:At low ambient temperatures withAUTOselected, the system
directs airflow to the windshield and side window vents and fan may run
at a slow speed until the engine warms up.
