Your vehicle has electronic control unitsthat have data recording functionality andthe ability to permanently or temporarilystore data. This data could includeinformation on the condition and status ofyour vehicle, vehicle maintenancerequirements, events and malfunctions.The types of data that can be recorded aredescribed in this section. Some of the datarecorded is stored in event logs or errorlogs.
Note:Error logs are reset following a serviceor repair.
Note:We may provide information inresponse to requests from law enforcement,other government authorities and thirdparties acting with lawful authority orthrough a legal process. Such informationcould be used by them in legal proceedings.
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Operating states of systemcomponents, for example fuel level,tire pressure and battery charge level.
•Vehicle and component status, forexample wheel speed, deceleration,lateral acceleration and seatbeltstatus.
•Events or errors in essential systems,for example headlamps and brakes.
•System responses to driving situations,for example airbag deployment andstability control.
•Environmental conditions, for exampletemperature.
Some of this data, when used incombination with other information, forexample an accident report, damage to avehicle or eyewitness statements, couldbe associated with a specific person.

1.Infant. An infant, less than 1 year old,must ride in the front seat because:
•The vehicle has no rear seat.
•The vehicle has a rear seat too smallto accommodate a rear-facing infantseat.
•The infant has a medical conditionwhich, according to the infant'sphysician, makes it necessary for theinfant to ride in the front so that thedriver can constantly monitor thechild's condition.
2.Children age 1 to 12. Children age 1 to12 must ride in the front seat because:
•The vehicle has no rear seat.
•Although children ages 1 to 12 ride inthe rear seat(s) whenever possible,children ages 1 to 12 sometimes mustride in the front because no space isavailable in the rear seat(s) of yourvehicle.
•The child has a medical conditionwhich, according to the child'sphysician, makes it necessary for thechild to ride in the front seat so that thedriver can constantly monitor thechild's condition.
3. Medical condition. A passenger has amedical condition which, according to hisor her physician:
•Causes the passenger airbag to posea special risk for the passenger.
•Makes the potential harm from thepassenger airbag in a crash greaterthan the potential harm from turningoff the airbag and allowing thepassenger, even if belted, to hit thedashboard or windshield in a crash.
Transport Canada DeactivationCriteria-Canada Only
WARNING: This vehicle has specialenergy management seatbelts for thedriver and right front passenger. Theseparticular seatbelts are specificallydesigned to work with airbags to helpreduce the risk of injury in a crash. Theenergy management seatbelt gives orreleases additional seatbelt webbing insome accidents to reduce theconcentration of force on an occupant'schest and to reduce the risk of certainbone fractures and injuries to underlyingorgans. In a crash, if the airbag is off, thisenergy management seatbelt mightpermit the passenger wearing theseatbelt to move forward enough tohave a serious or fatal injury. The moresevere the crash, and the heavier theoccupant, the greater the risk. Make surethe airbag is on for any passenger whodoes not qualify under the TransportCanada deactivation criteria.

•Poses a special risk for the passengerif the airbag deploys.

PROPERLY ADJUSTING THE
DRIVER AND FRONT
PASSENGER SEATS
WARNING: National HighwayTraffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)recommends a minimum distance of atleast 10 in (25 cm) between anoccupant's chest and the driver airbagmodule.
To properly position yourself away fromthe airbag:
•Move your seat to the rear as far as youcan while still reaching the pedalscomfortably.
•Recline the seat slightly one or twodegrees from the upright position.
After all occupants have adjusted theirseats and put on seatbelts, it is veryimportant that they continue to sitproperly. Properly seated occupants situpright, lean against the seat backrest, andcenter themselves on the seat cushion,with their feet comfortably extended onthe floor. Sitting improperly can increasethe chance of injury in a crash event. Forexample, if an occupant slouches, liesdown, turns sideways, sits forward, leansforward or sideways, or puts one or bothfeet up, the chance of injury during a crashgreatly increases.
CHILDREN AND AIRBAGS
WARNING: Do not place arearward facing child restraint in front ofan active airbag. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.

The fact that the seatbelt pretensionersor front airbags did not activate for bothfront seat occupants in a crash does notmean that something is wrong with thesystem. Rather, it means the restraintscontrol module determined the accidentconditions (crash severity, seatbelt usage)were not appropriate to activate thesesafety devices.
•The front airbags activate only infrontal and near-frontal crashes. Frontairbags may activate in rollovers, sideimpacts or rear impacts if the crashcauses sufficient frontal deceleration.
•The adaptive steering column activatesonly in frontal and near-frontal crashes.It may activate in rollovers, sideimpacts or rear impacts if the crashcauses sufficient frontal deceleration.
•The seatbelt pretensioners activate infrontal, near-frontal and side crashes,and in rollovers.
•The side airbags inflate in certain sideimpact crashes or rollover events. Sideairbags may activate in other types ofcrashes if the vehicle experiencessufficient sideways motion ordeformation.
•The Safety Canopy inflates in certainside impact crashes or rollover events.The Safety Canopy may activate inother types of crashes if the vehicleexperiences sufficient sideways motionor deformation, or a certain likelihoodof rollover.
DISPOSING OF AIRBAGS
Contact your authorized dealer as soon aspossible. Airbags must be disposed of byqualified personnel.

FUEL GAUGE LIMITATIONS
The fuel gauge may not provide anaccurate reading when your vehicle is onan incline.
LOCATING THE FUEL FILLERDOOR
The arrow adjacent to the fuel pumpsymbol indicates on which side of yourvehicle the fuel filler door is located.
WHAT IS THE LOW FUELREMINDER
A low fuel level reminder displays andsounds when the distance to emptyreaches 50 mi (80 km),25 mi (40 km),12 mi (20 km) and 0 mi (0 km).
Note:The low fuel reminder can appear atdifferent fuel gauge positions depending onfuel economy conditions. This variation isnormal.
WHAT IS DISTANCE TO EMPTY
Indicates the approximate distance yourvehicle can travel on the fuel remaining inthe tank. Changes in driving pattern cancause the value to not only decrease butalso increase or stay constant for periodsof time.
Note:When you have a trailer connected,your distance to empty accounts for thetrailer.
ENGINE COOLANT
TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Indicates the engine coolant temperature.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
Indicates the engine oil pressure.
Note:This is a configurable gauge.

Note:Recirculated air may turn offautomatically, or prevent you from switchingon in all air flow modes except MAX A/C toreduce the risk of fogging. Recirculation mayalso turn on and off automatically in variousair distribution control combinations toimprove heating or cooling efficiency.
SWITCHING AIR
CONDITIONING ON AND OFF
Press the button.
Note:Under certain conditions, the airconditioning compressor could continue tooperate after you switch air conditioning off.
Note:To keep the system and itscomponents fully functional, switch airconditioning on and let your vehicle idle atleast once per month for a minimum of twominutes.

Press the button to activate theselection screen.
Press the button on thetouchscreen to switch thewindshield air vents on.
Make sure that the instrumentpanel air vents are switched off.
Make sure that the footwell airvents are switched off.
SWITCHING MAXIMUM
DEFROST ON AND OFF
Press the button.
Air flows through the windshield air vents,and the blower motor adjusts to thehighest speed.
You can also use this setting to defog andclear the windshield of a thin covering ofice.
Note:To prevent window fogging, youcannot select recirculated air whenmaximum defrost is on.
Note:The heated rear window also turnson when you select maximum defrost.
Note:When maximum defrost is on, the airconditioning compressor may continue tooperate even though you switch off the airconditioning.

Note:Do not use harsh chemicals, razorblades or other sharp objects to clean orremove decals from the inside of the heatedrear window as this could cause damage tothe heated rear window grid lines notcovered by the vehicle Warranty.
SETTING THE BLOWER MOTOR

Press up or down on the controlto select the blower motorspeed.
Note:For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) andPlug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)vehicles, the blower motor may run, and youmay feel airflow when the climate controlis off, to provide cooling to the battery.
SWITCHING THE HEATED
MIRRORS ON AND OFF
When you switch the heated rear windowon, the heated exterior mirrors turn on.See Switching the Heated Rear WindowOn and Off (page 153).
Note:Do not remove ice from the mirrorswith a scraper or adjust the mirror glasswhen it is frozen in place.
Note:Do not clean the mirror housing orglass with harsh abrasives, fuel or otherpetroleum-based cleaning products. Thevehicle warranty may not cover damagecaused to the mirror housing or glass.
Note:The engine must be running or yourvehicle must be ready to drive to switch thesystem on.
SETTING THE TEMPERATURE
Turn the control on the left-hand side ofthe climate control to set the left-handtemperature.
Note:This control also sets the right-handside temperature when you switch off dualzone mode.
