Tonneau Cover
■
The tonneau cover can be used to conceal your parcels and protect them from direct sunlight.
To Extend:
■
Pull the handle on the center edge, then clip the mounting rods in the hooks on both sides of the hatch opening.
■To Retract:
Slip the rods out of the hooks, then slowly roll it back until it is completely retracted.
■To Remove:
Push either end of the housing inward, then lift it out of its position.
Tonneau Cover
Do not access parcels in the cargo area while driving. This may cause injury if you have to brake hard. Do not stack objects higher than the top of the seat in the cargo area. They could block your view and be thrown about the vehicle during a sudden stop. To prevent tonneau cover damage: Do not place items on the tonneau cover.

To Set a Four-digit Passcode to Lock the HFL System for Security

Say “System Setup.”

Say “Security.”

Follow the HFL prompts and say the four-digit number of your choice.

Follow the HFL prompts and confirm the number.

To Change the Security Passcode
■
Say “System Setup.”
1.
Say “Change Passcode” after the prompts.
2.
Say the new four-digit passcode after the HFL prompts.
3.
Follow the HFL prompts.

To Select a Ring Tone or a Prompt as the Incoming Call Notification

Once a passcode is set, you are required to enter the passcode with every new key cycle to use HFL.If you forget the code, go to your dealer to have the passcode reset. You can also cancel the passcode by clearing all the data stored in the HFL system.

Driving Preparation
Check the following items before you start driving.Check Items Before Getting In the Vehicle

Make sure there is no obstruction on the windows, door mirrors, exterior lights,

or other parts of the vehicle.
Remove any frost, snow, or ice.
Remove any snow on the roof, as this can slip down and obstruct your field of
vision while driving. When frozen hard, remove ice once it has softened.
When removing ice from around the wheels, be sure not to damage the wheel or wheel components.
Make sure the hood is securely closed.

If the hood opens while driving, your front view will be blocked.
Make sure the tires are in good condition.

•
Check air pressures, and check for damage and excessive wear.

Check Items Before Getting On the Vehicle
NOTICE If the doors are frozen shut, use warm water around the door edges to melt any ice. Do not try to force them open, as this can damage the rubber trim around the doors. When done, wipe dry to avoid further freezing. Do not pour warm water into the key cylinder. You will be unable to insert key if the hole freezes.
Check Items in the Compartment
The headlight aim is set by the factory, and typically does not need to be adjusted. However, if you regularly carry heavy items in the cargo area, have the aiming readjusted at your dealer or by a qualiied technician.

If there is a strong impact with something under the vehicle, stop in a safe location. Check the underside of the vehicle for damage and fuel or brake fluid leaks.
Precautions While Driving
NOTICE Do not operate the shift lever while pressing the accelerator pedal. You could damage the transmission. If the ignition switch is turned to ACCESSORY

or LOCK while driving, the engine will shut
down and all steering and brake power assist functions will stop, making it dificult to control the vehicle. Do not drive with the shift lever in
, as you will
lose engine braking (and acceleration) performance. During the irst 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation, avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so as to not damage the engine or powertrain. Avoid hard braking for the irst 200 miles (300 km). You should also follow this when the brakes are replaced.

When Driving Shifting
7-Speed Manual Shift Mode
■
Use the paddle shifters to change between first and seventh speeds without removing your hands from the steering wheel. The transmission switches to the 7-speed manual shift mode when you pull a paddle shifter while driving. This mode is useful when engine braking is needed. You can cancel this mode by pressing any of the three driving mode buttons, or pulling the
paddle shifter for a few seconds.
When the Driving Mode is in ECON or NORMAL
■
The shift mode goes into the 7-speed manual shift mode temporarily, and the number is displayed in the shift indicator.The 7-speed manual shift mode is canceled automatically if you drive at constant speed or accelerate, and the number in the shift indicator goes off.The 7-speed manual shift mode is especially useful when reducing the vehicle speed temporarily before making a turn.
When the Driving Mode is in SPORT
■
The shift mode goes into the 7-speed manual shift mode. The
M indicator and the
speed number are displayed in the shift indicator. As the vehicle speed slows down, the transmission automatically shifts down accordingly. When the vehicle comes to a stop, it automatically shifts down into first. If the vehicle speed increases and the engine speed reaches near the tachometer’s red zone, the transmission automatically shifts up.
7-Speed Manual Shift Mode
To improve fuel economy, the transmission may shift up to a higher speed than the seventh under certain circumstances. In this case, the number in the shift indicator remains as "7." In the 7-speed manual shift mode, the transmission
shifts up or down by operating either paddle shifte r
under the following conditions:Shift Up: The engine speed reaches the lowest threshold of the higher speed position.Shift Down: The engine speed reaches the highest threshold of the lower speed position. When the engine speed reaches near the tachometer’s red zone, the transmission shifts up automatically.When the engine speed reaches the lowest threshold of the selected speed position, the transmission shifts down automatically. Operating the paddle shifters on slippery surfaces may cause the tires to lock up. In this case, the 7-speed manual shift mode is canceled and goes back to the normal D driving mode.

Reverse Lockout

The manual transmission has a lockout mechanism that stops you from accidentally shifting into
R from a forward gear while the vehicle is moving at a certain speed.
If you cannot shift to
R when the vehicle is stopped, do the following: 1. Depress the clutch pedal, move the shift lever all the way to the left, and shift to
R.
If you still cannot shift into
2.
R, apply the
parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY
I or LOCK 0.
Depress the clutch pedal and shift into

R.
Keep depressing the clutch pedal and start
