■Locking the doors and tailg ate (Walk away auto lock®)
When you walk away from the vehicle with all
doors and tailgate closed while carrying the
smart entry remote, the doors will
automatically lock.
The auto lock function activates when all
doors and tailgate are closed, and the smart
entry remote is within about 5 feet (1.5 m)
radius of the outside door handle.
Exit vehicle while carrying smart entry remote
and close door(s).
1. While within about 5 feet (1.5 m) radius of
the vehicle.
u The beeper sounds; the auto lock
function will be activated.
2. Carry the smart entry remote beyond about
5 feet (1.5 m) from the vehicle and remain
outside this range fo r 2 or more seconds.
u Some exterior lights flash; the beeper
sounds; all doors and tailgate will then

The auto lock function is set to OFF as the factory
default setting. The auto lo ck function can be set to
ON using the audio/information screen.
Turning ON auto lock function using the audio/
information screen, shall only activate the function in
remote transmitter that was used to unlock the

After the auto lock function has been activated, when
you stay within the locking/unlocking operation range,
the indicator on the smart en try remote will continue to
flash until the doors are locked.
When you stay beside the vehicle within the
operation range, the doors wi ll automatically lock
approximately 30 seconds after the auto lock
function activating beeper sounds.
When you open a door after the auto lock function
activating beeper sounds, the auto lock function will
be delayed until all doors and tailgate are closed.
Under the following circumstances, the auto-lock
function will not activate:
•The remote is inside the vehicle.
u The buzzer will not sound.
•The remote is taken out of its operational range
before all the doors are closed.
u The buzzer will sound.
The activation range of
the auto lock function is
about 5 feet (1.5 m)

Pull the front door inner handle.
u The door unlocks and opens in one
motion.
Unlocking and opening the driver’s door from the inner handle unlocks all the other
doors.
To avoid all the doors to be unlocked, use the lock tab on the driver’s door to unlock,
then lock again before opening the door. u This setting works for one time only. If you do not want all the doors to be
unlocked all the time, customize the Auto Door Unlock setting to OFF using
the audio/information screen.

The front door inne r handles are designed to allow
front seat occupants to ope n the door in one motion.
However this feature requires that front seat
occupants never pull a front door inner handle while
the vehicle is in motion.
Children should always ride in a rear seat where
childproof door locks are provided.

Auto Door Locking/Unlocking
Your vehicle locks or unlocks all doors auto matically when a certain condition is met.
■Drive lock mode
All doors and tailgate lock when the ve hicle’s speed reaches about 10 mph (15
km/h).
■Driver’s door open mode
All doors and tailgate unlock when the driver’s door is opened.

Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate*
Use a forward and back kicking motion under
the center of the rear bumper to open or close
the power tailgate while carrying the smart
entry remote.
u Some exterior lights flash twice and a
beeper sounds once, then the tailgate
begins to move.
■Using the Hands Free Access*1Using the Hands Free Access*
During rain or in other instances when the vehicle
becomes wet, the sensor may not properly detect
your foot motion.
When performing work on or around the rear section
of the vehicle, you may in advertently open or close
the tailgate.
To prevent this from happe ning, select Customized
Features on the audio/information screen and then
select OFF for the feature. 2 Customized Features P. 324
If you hold your foot under the bumper for too long,
the power tailgate doe s not open or close.
This function will not opera te if you don't have the
smart entry remote on you. Please make sure you
have the smart entry remote on you.
The duration of the kick ing motion should be
approximately one second.

Brightness Control
When the power mode is in ON, you can use
the
(+ or (- button to adjust instrument
panel brightness.
Brighten: Press the
(+ button.
Dim: Press the
(- button.
You will hear a beeper when the brightness
reaches minimum or maximum. Several
seconds after you have adjusted the
brightness, you will be returned to the
previous screen.
■Brightness level indicator
The brightness level is shown on the display
while you are adjusting it.
1 Brightness Control
Instrument panel brightne ss varies, depending on
whether the exterior lights are on or off. The
instrument panel dims to reduce glare when they are
on.
When it is bright out side and the headlight
integration with the wi per is activated, the
instrument panel bri ghtness does not change.
To cancel the reduced in strument panel brightness
when the exterior lights are on, press the
( + button
until the brightness display is up to max, the beeper
sounds.
The brightness can be set differently for when the
exterior lights are on, and when they are off.

Driving Position Memory System*
You can store two driver's seat (excep t for power lumbar) and outside mirrors
position with the driving position memory system.
When you unlock and open the driver’s doo r with a remote transmitter, or smart
entry system, door mirrors adjust to one of the two preset positions and the seat
adjusts to retracted positions of one of the two preset positions automatically.
The seat will move to th e stored position when you set the power mode to
ACCESSORY.
When you enter the vehicle, the driver in formation interface briefly shows you which
remote transmitter you used to unlock the vehicle.
• DRIVER 1 transmitter is linked to memory button 1.
• DRIVER 2 transmitter is linked to memory button 2.
The driver’s seat moves rearward depending
on the set seating position once you

• Put the transmission in

• Turn the engine off.
• Then open the driver’s door.
Once the power mode is in the ACCESSORY

System Operation
The system will not operate if:
•The vehicle speed is above 3 mph (5 km/h).
•Either memory position button is pressed while the
seat is in motion.
•The seat position is adju sted while in operation.

• Be sure the surface is clear of dust and
other debris before charging.
• Do not spill liquids (i. e. water, drinks,
etc.) on the charger and the device.
• Do not use oil, grease, alcohol,
benzine or thinner for cleaning the
charge pad.
• Do not cover the system with towels,
clothing, or other objects while
charging etc.
• Avoid spraying aerosols which may
come in contact with the charge pad
surface.

The audio system features AM/FM radio and SiriusXM® Radio* service. It can also
play USB flash drives, and iPod, iPhone, iPad and Bluetooth® devices.
You can operate the audio system from the knobs on the panel, the remote controls
on the steering wheel, or the icons on the touchscreen interface.1About Your Audio System

After you set the power m ode to VEHICLE OFF, you
can use the audio system for up to 30 minutes per
driving cycle, or until opening the driver's door.
However, whether you can continue using the audio
system depends on the batter y condition. Repeatedly
using this feature ma y drain the battery.

Audio System Theft Protection
The audio system is disabled when it is disconnected from the power source, such as
when the battery is disconnected or goes dead. In certain conditions, the system
may display a code entry screen. If this occurs, reactivate the audio system.
■Reactivating the audio system
1. Set the power mode to ON.
2. Turn on the audio system.
3. Press and hold the audio system powe r button for more than two seconds.
u The audio system is reac tivated when the audio co ntrol unit establishes a
connection with the vehicl e control unit. If the control unit fails to recognize
the audio unit, you must go to a dealer and have the audio unit checked.
