ADJUSTABLE SEATS
To recline the seatback, lean forward to take your weight off it, then pull up on the recliner control lever at the outsideedge of the seat. Now lean back until the desired seatback angle is achieved. To lock the seatback into position,release the recliner control lever.

To move the seat toward the front or rear, pull the lock release lever upward. This will release the seat on its track so you can move it forward or rearward tothe desired position. When you find the position you want, release the lever and slide the seat forward or rearward on itstrack until it locks into the desired position and cannot be moved further.
WARNING: To ensure the seat is locked se- curely, attempt to move the seat for-ward or rearward without using the lock release lever.

To minimize risk of severe injury in the event of a collision or a sudden stop, both the driver and passenger seatbacks should always be in anupright position while the vehicle is in motion. The protection provided by the seat belts and airbags in afrontal collision may be reduced sig- nificantly when the seatbacks are reclined. There is greater risk thatthe driver and passenger will slide under the seat belt which may result in serious injury if a crash occurswhen the seatbacks are reclined. The seat belt cannot provide full protec- tion to an occupant if the seatback isreclined. B080D02A-AAT Adjustable Headrests
Headrests are designed to help reduce the risk of neck injuries. To raise the headrest, pull it up. To lower it, push it down while pressing thelock knob. To remove the headrest, raise it as far as it can go then press the lock knob while pulling upward. WARNING:
o For maximum effectiveness in case of an accident, the headrest shouldbe adjusted so the top of the head-rest is at the same height as the top of the occupant's ears. The use of a cushion that holds thebody away from the seatback is not recommended.

B140A01S-AAT REAR SEAT WARNING For the safety of all passengers, lug- gage or other cargo should not be piled higher than the top of the seatback. In addition, do not place objects on therear shelf as they may move forward during braking or in an accident and strike vehicle passengers.
WARNING:
o When you return the rear seatback to its upright position after being folded down, be careful not to damage the seatbelt webbing or buckle. In addition, do not allow the seatbelt webbing or buckle toget caught or pinched in the rear seat.
o When you return the rear seatback to its upright position, be sure it islocked into position to attempt move it.
o Never attempt to fold or return seat while the vehicle is moving.
o Make sure that the headrests are properly fixed in place to mini- mize the risk of severs injury in case of an accident.
o To unlock the seatback, pull up the
seatback locking knob, then pushforward on the seatback panel.
o When you return the seatback to its
upright position, always be sure it haslocked into position by pulling and pushing on the top of the seatback.

You can adjust the height of the shoul- der belt anchor to one of the 4 positions for maximum comfort and safety.If the height of the adjusting seat belt is too near your neck, you will not be getting the most effective protection.The shoulder portion should be ad- justed so that it lies across your chest and midway over your shoulder nearestthe door and not your neck. To adjust the height of the seat beltanchor, lower or raise the height ad-juster into an appropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. To lower it, push it down while pressing theheight adjuster button. Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad-juster to make sure that it has locked into the position.
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicle is moving.
o The misadjustment of height of
the shoulder belt could reduce theeffectiveness of the seat belt in a crash.
B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can becleaned by using a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not beused because they may damage and weaken the fabric. B160D01A-AAT When to Replace Seat Belts Entire in-use seat belt assembly or assemblies should be replaced if the vehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. This should be done even if nodamage is visible. Additional questions concerning seat belt operation should be directed to your Hyundai Dealer.

B180A02A-GAT SEAT BELTS 3-Point System with Emergency Locking Retrac-torTo Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab into the buckle. There will be an audible "click" when the tab locks into thebuckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap beltis adjusted manually so that it fits snugly around your hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the beltwill extend and let you move around. If there is a sudden stop or impact, how- ever, the belt will lock into position. It

The seat belt is released by pressing the release button in the locking buckle.When it is released, the belt should automatically draw back into the retrac- tor.If this does not happen, check the belt to be sure it is not twisted, then try again. With a 2-point static type seat belt, the length must be adjusted manually so it fits snugly around your body. Fastenthe belt and pull on the loose end to tighten. The belt should be placed as low as possible on your hips, not onyour waist. If the belt is too high, it could increase the possibility of your being injured in an accident.

The center lap belt latching mecha-nism is different from those for therear seat shoulder belts. When fas- tening the rear seat shoulder belts or the center lap belt, make sure theyare inserted into the correct buckles to obtain maximum protection from the seat belt system and assure properoperation.

o When using the rear seat center belt, you must lock all metal tabs and buckles. If any metal tab or buckle is not locked, it will in-crease the chance of injury in the event of collision.
o Never unlock the metal tab (a) and
the buckle (b) with the followingexceptions.(1)In case of folding rear seatbacks
down.
(2)If transporting an object on the
rear seat may cause damage to the rear seat center belt.
o Lock the metal tab (a) and the
buckle (b) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up.

B230A03A-GAT (If Installed) Children riding in the car should sit in the rear seat and must always be prop-erly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in an accident, sudden stop or sudden maneuver. According to acci-dent statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats than in the front seat. Larger childrennot in a child restraint should use one of the seat belts provided. You are required by law to use safetyrestraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and babies,a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits your car andseat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manu- facturer when installing the child re-straint system. WARNING:
o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never in- stall a child or infant seat on the front passenger's seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbag to deploy, it could severely injureor kill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Thus, only use a child restraint in the rearseat of your vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become very hot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.
o When the child restraint system is not in use, store it in the trunk or fasten it with a safety belt so that itwill not be thrown forward in the case of a sudden stop or an acci- dent.

WARNING:
Do not install any child restraint sys- tem in the front passenger seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbag to deploy, it could severely injure or kill aninfant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Therefore, only use a child restraint system in the rear seat ofyour vehicle.
If you need to tighten the belt, pull morewebbing toward the retractor. When youunbuckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normal seated pas-senger emergency locking usage con- dition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child restraint
system, read the instructions sup- plied by the child restraint system manufacturer.

B230B02A-GAT Using a Child Restraint System with "Tether Anchorage" Sys-tem For small children and babies, the use of a child seat or infant seat is required. This child seat or infant seat should be of appropriate size for the child andshould be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It is further required that the seat be placedin the vehicle's rear seat since this can make an important contribution to safety. To install a child restraint system in the outboard rear seats, extend the shoul- der/lap belt from its retractor. Install thechild restraint system, buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to take up any slack. Make sure that the lap por-tion of the belt is tight around the child restraint system and the shoulder por- tion of the belt is positioned so that itcannot interfere with the child's head or neck. After installation of the child re- straint system, try to move it in alldirections to be sure the child restraint system is securely installed.
