B670D01MC-EAT Air Flow Control This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, or windscreen. Five symbolsare used to represent Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost air po- sition.The MAX A/C mode is used to cool the inside of the vehicle faster (Not all models). Face-Level
Selecting the "Face" mode will cause air to be discharged through the facelevel vents. Bi-Level
Air is discharged through the face vents and the floor vents. This makes it pos- sible to have cooler air from the dash-board vents and warmer air from the floor outlets at the same time. Floor-Level
Air is discharged through the floor vents,windscreen defroster nozzle, side de- froster nozzle, side ventilator.

Floor-Defrost Level
Air is discharged through the windscreen defroster nozzle, the floor vents, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator. If the "Floor-Defrost" mode is selected,the A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated. Defrost-Level
Air is discharged through the windscreen defroster nozzle, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator. If the "Defrost" mode is selected, the A/C will turn on automati-cally and "Fresh" mode will be acti- vated.

Air is discharged through the face level vents. If the "MAX A/C" mode is selected, theA/C will turn on automatically and "Re- circulation" mode will be activated.

HEATING CONTROLS

For faster heating, the air intake control switch should be set in the recirculate (

If the windows fog up, set the air flow control to the defrost (

BI-LEVEL HEATING
B700A02A-AAT Your Hyundai is equipped with bi-level heating controls. This makes it pos- sible to have cooler air from the dash- board vents and warmer air from thefloor outlets at the same time. To use this feature:
o Set the air intake control switch to the fresh air (

o Set the air flow control at the bi-level (

o Adjust the fan speed control to the
desired speed.

B720A02FC-EAT Use the heating/ventilation system to defrost or defog the windscreen: To remove the interior fog on the windscreen:
o Set the air flow control to the defrost ( ) position. (The A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated.)
o Set the temperature control at the desired position.
o Set the fan speed control between
"1" and "4" position.

VENTILATION

o Set the air intake control switch at the fresh air (
) position.
o To direct all intake air to the dash- board vents, set the airflow control to the face (
) position.
o Adjust the fan speed control to the desired speed.

To remove the frost or exterior fog on the windscreen:
o Set the air flow control to the defrost
( ) position. (The A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated.)
o Set the temperature control to the warm.
o Set the fan speed control to position "3" or "4".

B740A01S-EAT (Not all models) Air Conditioning Switch The air conditioning is turned on or off by pushing the A/C button on the heat- ing/air conditioning control panel. OGK046047
NOTE: When the A/C is operated continu- ously on the floor-defrost level ( ) or defrost level ( ), it may cause fogto form on the exterior windscreen by the temperature differential. At this time set the air flow control tothe face level position ( )and fan speed control to the low position.

o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to "Recircula- tion". Be sure to return the control to"Fresh" when the irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep the driver alert andcomfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles just aheadof the windscreen. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc-tions.
o To prevent interior fog on the
windscreen, set the air intake controlto the fresh air ( ) position, and fan speed to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system,and adjust temperature control to desired temperature.

B740B02A-AAT Air Conditioning Operation Cooling To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch by
pushing in on the switch. The airconditioning indicator light shouldcome on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control switch to
the fresh air (
) position.
o Set the temperature control to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderatedby moving the control toward "Warm".) o Adjust the fan control to the desired
speed. For greater cooling, turn the fan control to one of the higher speeds or temporarily select the recirculate (
) position on the air intake control
switch.

o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control switch to

o Adjust the fan control to the desired
speed.
o For more rapid action, set the fan at
one of the higher speeds.

o If the interior of the car is hot when you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condition-
ing system, keep all windows closedto keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. Thisincreases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine over-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioning onceevery month for a few minutes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system in peak operatingcondition.
