B670D01MC-EAT Air Flow Control This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, or windscreen. Five symbolsare used to represent Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost air po- sition. The MAX A/C mode is used to cool the inside of the vehicle faster (Not all models). OGK046039B670C02Y-EAT Air Intake Control This is used to select fresh outside air or recirculation of inside air.
FreshRecirculation
With the "
" mode selected, air
enters the vehicle from outside and is heated or cooled according to the otherfunctions selected. With the "
" mode selected, air from
within the passenger compartment is drawn through the heating system and heated or cooled according to the other functions selected. NOTE: It should be noted that prolonged operation of the heating system in "
" mode will give rise to fogging
of the windscreen and side windows and the air within the passenger com- partment will become stale. In addi-tion prolonged use of the air condi- tioning with the "
" mode selected
may result in the air within the pas- senger compartment becoming ex- cessively dry.

89AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
B740A01S-EAT (Not all models) Air Conditioning Switch The air conditioning is turned on or off by pushing the A/C button on the heat- ing/air conditioning control panel. OGK046047
NOTE: When the A/C is operated continu- ously on the floor-defrost level ( ) or defrost level ( ), it may cause fogto form on the exterior windscreen by the temperature differential. At this time set the air flow control tothe face level position ( )and fan speed control to the low position.
B730A01L-EAT Operation Tips
o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to "Recircula- tion". Be sure to return the control to"Fresh" when the irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep the driver alert andcomfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles just aheadof the windscreen. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc-tions.
o To prevent interior fog on the
windscreen, set the air intake controlto the fresh air ( ) position, and fan speed to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust temperature control to desired temperature.

B740D01A-AAT Operation Tips
o If the interior of the car is hot when you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condition-
ing system, keep all windows closedto keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. Thisincreases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine over-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioning onceevery month for a few minutes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system in peak operatingcondition.
