When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch in the OFF posi-
tion to stop the auto wiper oper-
ation. The wiper may operate
and be damaged if the switch is
set in the AUTO mode while
washing the vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the
passenger side windshield
glass. Damage to system parts
could occur and may not be cov-
ered by your vehicle warranty.
Because of using a photo sen- sor, temporary malfunction
could occur according to sud-
den ambient light change made
by stone and dust while driving.
Front Windshield Washers
In the OFF position, pull the lever
gently toward you to spray washer
fluid on the windshield and to run the
wipers 1-3 cycles. The spray and
wiper operation will continue until
you release the lever. If the washer
does not work, you may need to add
washer fluid to the washer fluid
reservoir.
NOTICE
When the outside temperature
is below freezing, ALWAYS
warm the windshield using the
defroster to help prevent the
washer fluid from freezing on
the windshield and obscuring
your vision which could result
in an accident and serious
injury or death.

Types of warning soundIndicator
When an object is 24 to 47 in (60 to 120 cm) from the
rear bumper, the warning sound beeps intermittently.
When an object is 12 to 24 in (30 to 60 cm) from the rear
bumper, the warning sound beeps more frequently.
When an object is within 12 in (30 cm) from the rear
bumper, the warning sound beeps continuously.
The indicator may differ from the illustration as objects or sensors sta-
tus. If the indicator blinks, have your vehicle checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
If the audible warning does not sound or if the buzzer sounds intermit- tently when shifting into R (Reverse) position, this may indicate a mal-
function with the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse) system. If this
occurs, have your vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as
soon as possible.

To avoid possible theft, do not
leave valuables in the storage
compartments.
Center Console Storage
To open :
Grab and hold the latch (1) on the
arm rest then lift the lid.
Glove Box
To open:
Pull the lever (1).
NOTICE
Never store cigarette lighters,
propane cylinders, or other
flammable/explosive materials
in the vehicle. These items may
catch fire and/or explode if the
vehicle is exposed to hot tem-
peratures for extended periods.
WARNING
ALWAYS keep the storage com-
partment covers closed secure-
ly while driving. Items inside
your vehicle are moving as fast
as the vehicle. If you have to
stop or turn quickly, or if there
is a crash, the items may fly out
of the compartment and may
cause an injury if they strike the
driver or a passenger.
WARNING
ALWAYS close the glove box
door after use.
An open glove box door can
cause serious injury to the pas-
senger in an accident, even if the
passenger is wearing a seat belt.

Cup Holder
Front
Cups or small beverages cups may
be placed in the cup holders.
Rear
Pull the armrest down to use the cup
holders.

Avoid abrupt starting and
braking when the cup holder
is in use to prevent spilling
your drink. If hot liquid spills,
you could be burned. Such a
burn to the driver could cause
loss of vehicle control result-
ing in an accident.

Keep cans or bottles out of
direct sun light and do not put
them in a hot vehicle. It may
explode.
WARNING
Do not place uncovered or
unsecured cups, bottles,
cans, etc., in the cup holder
containing hot liquid while the
vehicle is in motion. Injuries
may result in the event of a
sudden stop or collision.
Only use soft cups in the cup
holders. Hard objects can
injure you in an accident.

Luggage Net Holder (if equipped)
To keep items from shifting in the lug-
gage compartment, you can use the
4 holders located in the luggage
board to attach the luggage net.
Make sure the luggage net is securely
attached to the holders in the luggage
board.
The following must be observed
when installing ANY floor mat
to the vehicle.
Ensure that the floor mats are
securely attached to the vehi-
cle's floor mat anchor(s)
before driving the vehicle.
Do not use ANY floor mat that
cannot be firmly attached to
the vehicle's floor mat anchors.
Do not stack floor mats on top
of one another (e.g. all-weath-
er rubber mat on top of a car-
peted floor mat). Only a single
floor mat should be installed
in each position.
IMPORTANT - Your vehicle was
manufactured with driver’s side
floor mat anchors that are
designed to securely hold the
floor mat in place. To avoid any
interference with pedal opera-
tion, HYUNDAI recommends
that the HYUNDAI floor mat
designed for use in your vehicle
be installed.
WARNING
Avoid eye injury. DO NOT over-
stretch the luggage net. ALWAYS
keep your face and body out of
the luggage net's recoil path. DO
NOT use the luggage net when
the strap has visible signs of
wear or damage.
Use the luggage net to keep only
light items from shifting in the
luggage compartment.

Before Entering the Vehicle
• Be sure all windows, outside mir-ror(s), and outside lights are clean
and unobstructed.
Remove any frost, snow, or ice that has accumulated on your vehicle.
Visually check the tires for uneven wear and damage.
Check under the vehicle for any sign of leaks.
Be sure there are no obstacles behind you if you intend to back up.
Before Starting
Make sure the hood, the liftgate,and the doors are securely closed
and locked.
Adjust the position of the seat and steering wheel.
Adjust the inside and outer side view mirrors.
Verify all the lights work.
Fasten your seat belts. Check that all passengers have fastened their
seat belts.
Check the gauges and indicators in the instrument panel and the mes-
sages on the instrument display
when the POWER button is in the
ON position.
Check that any items you are car- rying are stored properly or fas-
tened down securely.

ON Press the POWER button while it is in the
ACC position without depressing the brake
pedal.
The warning lights can be checked before
the vehicle is started. Do not leave the POWER button in the ON
position when the vehicle is not in the ready
( ) mode to prevent the battery from dis-
charging.
START
To start the vehicle, depress the brake pedal
and press the POWER button with the gear
in the P (Park) position. If you press the POWER button without
depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle does
not start and the POWER button changes as
follows:

Power Brakes
Your vehicle has power-assisted
brakes that adjust automatically
through normal usage.
If power is not supplied to your vehi-
cle such as when the battery is dis-
charged or the vehicle is turned off
while driving, the power assist for the
brakes will not work. You can still stop
your vehicle by applying greater
force to the brake pedal than typical.
The stopping distance, however, will
be longer than with power brakes.
Do not pump the brake pedal when
the power assist has been interrupt-
ed.

Take the following precautions:
Do not drive with your foot
resting on the brake pedal.
This will create abnormal high
brake temperatures, exces-
sive brake lining and pad
wear, and increased stopping
distances.
When descending down a
long or steep hill, use the pad-
dle shifter (left side lever) to
increase regenerative braking
in order to control your speed
without using the brake pedal
excessively. Applying the
brakes continuously will
cause the brakes to overheat
and could result in a tempo-
rary loss of braking perform-
ance.
Wet brakes may impair the
vehicle's ability to safely slow
down; the vehicle may also
pull to one side when the
brakes are applied. Applying
the brakes lightly will indicate
whether they have been
affected in this way. Always
test your brakes in this fash-
ion after driving through deep
water. To dry the brakes, light-
ly tap the brake pedal to heat
up the brakes while maintain-
ing a safe forward speed until
brake performance returns to
normal. Avoid driving at high
speeds until the brakes func-
tion correctly.WARNING

Do not continue depressing the brake pedal if the " "indica-
tor is OFF. The battery may be
discharged.
Noise and vibration generated during braking is normal.
Under normal operation, electric brake pump noise and motor
vibration may occur temporarily
in below cases.
- When the pedal is depressedsuddenly.
- When the pedal is repeatedly depressed in short intervals.
- When the ABS function is acti- vated while braking.
Disc Brake Wear Indicator
When your brake pads are worn and
new pads are required, you will hear
a high pitched warning sound from
your front or rear brakes. You may
hear this sound come and go or it
may occur whenever you depress
the brake pedal.
Note that some driving conditions or
climates may cause a brake squeal
when you first apply (or lightly apply)
the brakes. This is normal and does
not indicate a problem with your
brakes.
To avoid costly brake repairs, do
not continue to drive with worn
brake pads.
Information
Always replace brake pads as com-
plete front or rear axle sets.
Electronic Parking Brake
(EPB)
Applying the parking brake
To apply the EPB (Electronic
Parking Brake):
1. Depress the brake pedal.
2. Pull the EPB switch upwards.
Make sure the Parking Brake
Warning Light comes on.
With the Auto Hold feature enabled,
the EPB is automatically applied
when the vehicle is shut off.
