ROOF RACK (Not all models) If your Hyundai has a roof rack, you can load things on top of your vehicle. Crossrails andfixing components to adapt the roof rack onyour vehicle may be obtained from an autho-rized Hyundai dealer. CAUTION:
o The following specifications are recom-
mended when loading cargo or luggage.
ROOF RACK
o Loading cargo or luggage above 70 kg (154 lb) on the roof rack may damage your vehicle. When you carry large objects, never let them hang over the rear or the sides ofyour vehicle.
o To prevent damage or loss of cargo as you are driving, check frequently tomake sure the luggage carrier and cargoare still securely fastened.
o Always drive your vehicle at a moderate speed.
o To use the roof rails as a roof rack, you must fit the roof rails with two or morecrossrails or equivalent before carryingcargo or lugguage on the roof.
o When crossrail is adapted, you can load things on the roof rack.
o Loading cargo or luggage over specifi- cation on the roof rack may damagestability of your vehicle.

The auto fuel cut switch is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment. In the event of a collision or sudden impact, the auto fuel cut device cuts off the fuelsupply. If this device is activated, it must bereset by pressing in on the top of the switchbefore the engine can be restarted. WARNING: Before resetting the auto fuel cut switch, the fuel line should be checked for fuelleaks.

SUN-VISOR
Sun visors are fitted to both the driver and
passenger side of the vehicle. Certain deriva- tives are equipped with a vanity mirror whichis located on the back of the driver andpassenger visor. The visor may be lowered toreduce the amount of glare from directly ahead,or may be moved towards the side window toreduce glare from the side of the vehicle, oncethe inner pivot has been unclipped from thebracket.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
label containing useful information can be found on the back of each sun visor.
WARNING: Do not place the sun-visor in such a man-

Vanity mirror
To adjust the steering wheel:
1. Push the lever downward to unlock.
2. Raise or lower the steering wheel to the
desired position.
3. After adjustment, securely tighten the lever by pulling it upward

Side Ventilator
The side vent knobs control the amount of
outside air entering the vehicle through the side vents. These vents can also be closed,so no air enters through the side vents. Tochange the direction of the air flow, turn thecontrol knobs as desired.

This model has four controls for the heating and cooling system. They are:
1. Temperature control
2. Fan speed control
3. Air flow control

This is used to select fresh outside air or recirculation inside air. To change the air intake control mode, (Fresh mode, Recirculation mode) push the controlbutton. FRESH MODE (
) : The indicator light on
the button goes off when the air intake control is in fresh mode. RECIRCULATION MODE (
): The indica-
tor light on the button is illuminated when the air intake control is in recirculation mode. With the "Fresh" mode selected, air enters the vehicle from the outside and is heated orcooled according to the function selected. With the "Recirculation" mode selected, air from within the passenger compartment will bedrawn through the heating system and heatedor cooled according to the function selected.

Fan Speed Control (Blower Control)

This is used to turn the blower fan on or off
and to select the fan speed.
This blower fan speed, and therefore the
volume of air delivered from the system, may be controlled manually by setting the blowercontrol between the "1" and "4" positions.

Face-Level
Selecting the "Face" mode will cause air to be
discharged through the face level vents.
NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged op- eration of the heating in "Recirculation" mode will increase to fogging of thewindscreen and side windows and theair within the passenger compartmentwill become stale. In addition, prolongeduse of the air conditioning with the"Recirculation" mode selected may re-sult in the air within the passenger com-partment becoming excessively dry.
o When the ignition switch is turned "ON" the air intake control will change to "
"
mode (regardless of switch position). This is normal operation.

This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, orwindscreen. Five symbols are used to repre-sent Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost andDefrost air position.

Bi-Level
Air is discharged through the face vents and
the floor vents. This makes it possible to have cooler air from the dashboard vents and warmerair from the floor outlets at the same time. Floor-Level
Air is discharged through the floor vents.
Floor-Defrost Level
Air is discharged through the windscreen de-
frost vents and the floor vents.
If the "Floor-Defrost" mode is selected, the A/C
will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode willbe activated.

Air is discharged through the windscreen de- frost vents. If the "Defrost" mode is selected, the A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode willbe activated.

This is used to turn the heating system on and off and to select the degree of heating de-sired. B690A02S-AAT HEATING CONTROLS For normal heating operation, set the air in- take control to the "Fresh" position and the airflow control to "Floor". For faster heating, the air intake control should be in the "Recirculation" position. If the windows fog up, move the air flow control to the "Def" (defroster) position. (TheA/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh"mode will be activated.) For maximum heat, move the temperature control to "Warm".

Temperature Control Your Hyundai is equipped with bi-level heating controls. This makes it possible to have coolerair from the dashboard vents and warmer airfrom the floor outlets at the same time. To usethis feature:

To remove interior fog on the windscreen;
o Set the air flow control to the defrost ()
position. (The A/C will turn on automati- cally and "Fresh" mode will be activated.)
o Set the temperature control to the desired position.
o Set the fan speed control between "1" and "4" position.

To remove the frost or exterior fog on the windscreen;
o Set the air flow control to the defrost (

o Set the temperature control to warm.
o Set the fan speed control to position "3" or "4". The air conditioning is turned on or off by

o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes from
entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake con-trol at "Recirculation". Be sure to return thecontrol to "Fresh" when the irritation haspassed to keep fresh air in the vehicle.This will help keep the driver alert andcomfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles just ahead of thewindscreen. Care should be taken thatthese are not blocked by leaves, snow, iceor other obstructions.
o To prevent interior fog on the windscreen, set the air intake control to the fresh air(
) position and fan speed to the desired
position.
NOTE: When the A/C is operated continuously on the floor-defrost level (
) or defrost level
(), it may cause fog to form on the exte-
rior windscreen. If this occurs, set the air flow control to the face level position (
)and
fan speed control to the low position.

For dehumidified heating:
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to "Fresh" mode (

o Set the air flow control to the desired position.
o Adjust the fan control to the desired speed.
o For more rapid action, set the fan at one of the higher speeds.

o If the interior of the car is hot when you first
get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air conditioning system, keep all windows closed to keephot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy traffic, shift to a lower gear. This increases enginespeed, which in turn increases the speedof the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air conditioning off to avoid the possibility of the engineover-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not used regularly,run the air conditioning once every monthfor a few minutes. This will help circulatethe lubricants and keep your system inpeak operating condition.

To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch by pushing in on the switch. The air condition-ing indicator light should come on at thesame time.
o Set the air intake control to "Fresh" mode (

o Set the temperature control to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderated by movingthe control toward "Warm".)
o Adjust the fan control to the desired speed. For greater cooling, turn the fan control toone of the higher speeds or temporarilyselect the "Recirculation" position on theair intake control.

The pollen filter is located in front of the blower unit behind the glove box. It operates to decrease pollutants entering the car and to filter the air. Replacement instructions:
1. Remove the adjusting pins on both sides of the glove box.
2. Remove the filter cover and replace the filler.
3. Installation is the reverse order of disas- sembly.

FM broadcasts are transmitted at high fre- quency and do not bend to follow the earth'ssurface. Because of this, FM broadcasts gen-erally begin to fade at short distances from thestation. Also, FM signals are easily affected bybuildings, mountains, or other obstructions.These can result in certain listening conditionswhich might lead you to believe a problemexists with your radio. AM broadcasts can be received at greater distances than FM broadcasts. This is becauseAM radio waves are transmitted at low fre-quency.
