Driver's Front Airbag
B240A03NF-DAT Driver's and Passenger's Front Airbag Your vehicle is equipped with a Supple- mental Restraint (Air Bag) System andlap/shoulder belts at both the driver and passenger seating positions. The indi- cations of the system's presence arethe letters "SRS AIR BAG" embossed on the airbag pad cover in the steering wheel and the front passenger's panelpad above the glove box. The Hyundai SRS consists of airbagsinstalled under the pad covers in thecentre of the steering wheel and the front passenger's panel above the glove box.The purpose of the SRS is to provide the vehicle's driver or the front passen- ger with additional protection than thatoffered by the seat belt system alone, in case of a frontal impact of sufficient severity. NOTE: Be sure to read information about the SRS on the labels provided on the sun visor.
WARNING:
o As its name implies, the SRS is designed to work with, and besupplemental to, the driver's andthe passenger's three point seat belt systems and is not a substi- tute for them. Therefore your seatbelts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion. The airbags deploy only in certain fron-tal impact conditions severe enough to likely cause significant injury to the vehicle occupants.
o The SRS is designed to deploy the airbags only when the impact issufficiently severe and when theimpact is in the front or frontal angle of the vehicle, and will not deploy in side, rear or rolloverimpacts. Additionally, the airbags will only deploy once. Thus, seat belts must be worn at all times.

The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) on the instrument panel will illumi-nate for about 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" posi- tion or after the engine is started, afterwhich the SRI should go out.
B240B02L-R B240B03L-R
Upon deployment, tear seams moldeddirectly into the pad covers will sepa- rate under pressure from the expansion of the airbags. Further opening of the covers then allows full inflation of the airbags. A fully inflated airbag in combination with a properly worn seat belt slows thedriver's or the passenger's forward mo- tion, thus reducing the risk of head or chest injury. After complete inflation, the airbag im- mediately starts deflating, enabling thedriver to maintain forward visibility. CAUTION:
When installing a container of liquidair freshener inside the vehicle, donot place it near the instrument clus- ter nor on the instrument panel pad surface. If there is any leakage fromthe air freshener onto these areas (Instrument cluster, instrument panel pad or air ventilator), it may damagethese parts. If the liquid from the air freshener does leak onto these ar- eas, wash them with water immedi-ately.

Passenger's Airbag
The airbag modules are located both in the centre of the steering wheel and in the front passenger's panel above the glove box. When the SRSCM detects aconsiderable impact to the front of the vehicle, it will automatically deploy the airbags.

5VEHICLE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
2MAINTENANCE INTERVALS
F010C01A-DAT
Specified Scheduled Procedures
These are the procedures such as
inspections, adjustments and replace- ments that are listed in the mainte- nance charts starting on page 5-4.These procedures must be performed at the intervals shown in the mainte- nance schedule to assure that yourwarranty remains in effect. Although it is strongly recommended that they be performed by the factory-trained ordistributor-trained technicians at your Hyundai dealer, these procedures may be performed at any qualified servicefacility. It is suggested that genuine Hyundai service parts be used for any required repairs or replacements. Otherparts of equivalent quality such as engine oil, engine coolant, manual or auto transaxle oil, brake fluid and soon which are not supplied by Hyundai Motor Company or its distributor may be used without affecting your war-ranty coverage but you should always be sure these are equivalent to the quality of the original Hyundai parts.Your Service Passport provides fur- ther information about your warranty coverage. General Checks
These are the regular checks youshould perform when you drive your Hyundai or you fill the fuel tank. A list of these items will be found on page 6-5. F010F02A-DAT
A Few Tips
Whenever you have your Hyundai ser-
viced, keep copies of the service records in your glove box. This will help ensure that you have documenta- tion when required. This is especiallyimportant when emergency service is not performed at an authorised Hyundai dealer.
F010B01A-AAT Maintenance Requirements The maintenance required for your Hyundai can be divided into three main areas: o Specified scheduled procedures o General checks o Do-it-yourself maintenance
F010A01A-DAT Service requirements To ensure that you receive satisfying operation from your Hyundai, certain maintenance procedures must be per- formed. Although careful design andengineering have reduced these to a minimum, those that are required are of the utmost importance. It is your responsibility to have thesemaintenance procedures performed tocomply with the terms of the warran- ties covering your new Hyundai. The Service Passport supplied with yournew vehicle provides further informa- tion about these warranties.

19CHANGING THE CLIMATE CONTROL AIR FILTER
B145A01CM-DAT
(For Evaporator and Blower Unit)
The climate control air filter is located in the passenger cabin in front of the evaporator unit behind the glove box. It helps to decrease the amount of pollutants entering the car.
1. Open the glove box and remove the adjusting pins on both sides of the glove box.
G140C01A-AAT
Lubrication
To lubricate the compressor and the seals in the system, the air condition-ing should be run for at least 10 min- utes each week. This is particularly important during cool weather whenthe air conditioning system is not oth- erwise in use.
!
G140B01A-AAT
Checking the Air Conditioning Operation
1. Start the engine and let it run at fast
idle for several minutes with the air conditioning set at the maximum cold setting.
2. If the air coming out of the in-dash vents is not cold, have the air con-ditioning system inspected by yourHyundai dealer.
CAUTION:
Running the air conditioning sys-
tem for extended periods of time with a low refrigerant level may dam- age the compressor.
OCM055010R
AIR CONDITIONING CARE
G140A01A-DAT
Keeping the Condenser Clean
The air conditioning condenser (and
engine radiator) should be checked periodically for accumulation of dirt, dead insects, leaves, etc. These caninterfere with maximum cooling effi- ciency. When removing such accumu- lations, brush or hose them away care-fully to avoid bending the cooling fins. Replacement of the filter drier
To comply with local Australian State
codes and Laws the filter drier must be replaced if the system has been opened to the atmosphere for any reason or if during servicing no refrigerant is foundin the system.
