IF THE ENGINE WILL NOT START
D010A01A-AAT D010B01HP-GAT If Engine Doesn’t Turn Over or Turns Over Slowly
1. If your car has an automatic trans- mission, be sure the gear selector lever is in "N" or "P" and the emer-gency brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be
sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you operatethe starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions for "Jump Starting". D010C02A-EAT If Engine Turns Over Normally but Does Not Start
1. Check fuel level.
2. With the key in the "OFF" position,
check all connectors at ignition coils and spark plugs(For Gasoline En- gine) or check all connectors atglow plug and glow plug relay(For Diesel Engine). Reconnect any that may be disconnected or loose.
3. Check fuel line in the engine room.
4. If engine still refuses to start, call a
Hyundai dealer or seek other quali- fied assistance.
WARNING:
If the engine will not start, do not push or pull the car to start it. This could result in a collision or causeother damage. In addition, push or pull starting may cause the cata- lytic converter to be overloaded andcreate a fire hazard.

1. Reduce your speed gradually, keep-ing a straight line. Move cautiously off the road to a safe place.
2. Turn on your emergency flashers.
3. Try to start the engine again. If your vehicle will not start, contact aHyundai dealer or seek other quali-fied assistance.

Drive belts should be checked periodi- cally for proper tension and adjusted if necessary. At the same time, beltsshould be examined for cracks, wear, fraying or other evidence of deteriora- tion and replaced if necessary.Belt routing should also be checked tobe sure there is no interference be-tween the belts and other parts of the engine. After a belt is replaced, the new belt should be adjusted againafter two or three weeks to eliminate slack resulting from initial stretching after use. HHP5049

Replacing Accessory Fuses
The fuse box for the lights and other
electrical accessories will be found under the dashboard on the driver’s side. Inside the box you will find a list showing the circuits protected by eachfuse. If any of your car's lights or other
electrical accessories stop working, ablown fuse could be the reason. If the fuse has burned out, you will see that the metal strip inside the fuse hasburned through. If you suspect a blown fuse, follow this procedure: G200B01HP

A fusible link will melt if the electrical
circuits from the battery are ever over- loaded, thus preventing damage to the entire wiring harness. (This could be caused by a short in the systemdrawing too much current.) If this ever happens, have a Hyundai dealer determine the cause, repair the sys-tem and replace the fusible link. The fusible links are located in a relay box for easy inspection.
CAUTION:
When replacing a fusible link, never use anything but a new fusible link with the same or lower amper-age rating. Never use a piece of wire or a higher-rated fusible link. This could result in serious dam-age and create a fire hazard. 3. Be sure to check all other fuses,
even if you find one that appears tohave burned out.
1. Turn off the ignition and all other
switches.
2. Open the fuse box and examine each fuse. Remove each fuse bypulling it toward you (a small "fusepuller" tool is contained in the relay and fuse box of the engine room to simplify this operation).

HPB220B1-E Lane Change Signal To indicate an intention to change lanes, moving the lever slightly towards the direction of the relevant turn signal will cause the turn signal lights to flash. Thelever will either return automatically or will need to be manually moved to the centre position when the lane changeindication has been completed.MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH
ZB120A1-E Turn Signal Operation To signal an intention to turn right, the switch lever should be pressed down.To signal an intention to turn left, the switch lever should be pushed up- wards. In both instances, the turn sig-nal lamps the instrument cluster warn- ing light will flash. Upon completion of the manoeuvre, the lever will, undernormal circumstances, return to the "OFF" position. However, if the ma- noeuvre involved only a small move-ment of the steering wheel, the signal may need to be cancelled manually. If either turn signal indicator flashes morerapidly than normal or refuses to flash at all, a malfunction of the turn signal system may exist.

Trip odometer records the distance of 2 trips in miles. TRIP A: First distance you have trav-
eled from your origination point to a first destination. TRIP B: Second distance from the first
destination to the final destination.When the reset knob is pressed for more than 1 second, trip odometer will reset to 0.

!WARNING:
If the engine refuses to start, no attempt should be made to push or tow start the vehicle. Vehicles with automatic transmission or fuel in-jection will not be able to be started in this manner since no drive is transmitted through the automatictransmission whilst the engine is not running, and in the case of fuel injected derivatives, the fuel pumpwill not operate under tow start conditions. In addition, if the ve- hicle is equipped with an exhaustcatalyst, damage to the catalyst may result if the vehicle is tow started. HPD020B1-E If The Engine Cannot Be Cranked
1. If the vehicle is fitted with manual
transmission, ensure that the clutch pedal is depressed whilst cranking the engine. If the vehicle is fitted with automatic transmission, en-sure that the transmission selector is at the "P" or "N" position.
2. Check the battery terminals and
connections to ensure that theseare clean and also tight.
3. If the ignition warning lights dim
when the engine is cranked and thebattery terminals have been checked, a discharged battery isindicated. 4. Do not attempt to push or tow start
the vehicle, refer to "Jump Starting"for information regarding engine start- ing when the battery is discharged.

DG200B1-E INDIVIDUAL CIRCUIT FUSES The fuse box containing the individual circuit fuses is located on the lowerportion of the dashboard adjacent to the bonnet release. The fuse box cover is removed by pushing lightlyand then releasing the lid. A fuse rating grid will be found on the re- verse side of the cover. In the eventof fuse failure, the fuse should be replaced with one of equivalent rat- ing. A fuse removal tool is providedwithin the fuse box to facilitate re- placement. In the event of a replacement fuse
failing shortly after installation a mal-function within the circuit protected by that fuse is indicated. The circuitshould be checked by a Hyundai authorised repairer at the first avail- able opportunity. WARNING:
The use of replacement fuses hav-ing a higher rating than specifiedor other means of connecting the circuit will create a potential fire hazard. NOTE: See page 6-36 for the fuse panel descriptions.
