Automatic drive programs
Drive program E is characterized by the follow-
ing:
•Comfort-oriented engine settings.
•Optimal fuel consumption resulting from the
automatic transmission shifting up sooner.
•The vehicle pulling away more gently in
forward and reverse gears unless the accel-
erator pedal is depressed fully.
•Increased sensitivity. This improves handling
on slippery road surfaces, for example.
•The automatic transmission shifting up
sooner. This results in the vehicle being
driven at lower engine speeds and the
wheels being less likely to spin.
Drive program S is characterized by the follow-
ing:
•Sporty engine settings.
•The automatic transmission shifting up later.
•As a result of the later automatic transmis-
sion shift points, the fuel consumption pos-
sibly being higher.
Manual drive program
In manual drive program M, you can change
gear yourself by using the steering wheel gear-
shift paddles. For this, the transmission must
be in position D (Drive). The gear currently
selected and engaged is shown in the vehicle
information display
Manual drive program M differs from drive
programs E and S with regard to spontaneity,
responsiveness and smoothness of gear
changes.
Using manual gears

•Permanently: Press the drive mode switch
1repeatedly until M appears in the vehicle
information display. Manual drive program M
remains active until drive program E or S is
engaged.
•Temporarily: Pull the right or left steering
wheel gearshift paddle (see Steering wheel
gearshift paddles later in this section).
Manual drive program M is temporarily ac-
tive. Depending on which gearshift paddle is
pulled, the automatic transmission immedi-
ately shifts into the next gear down or up.
When manual drive program M is activated via
the steering wheel gearshift paddles, the tem-
porarily active manual drive program M will be
deactivated automatically after a limited time, if

display. If this is the case, the Idle Stop/Start
function is not active.
If indicator lamp
2on ECO button1is off, the
Idle Stop/Start function has been deactivated
manually or as the result of a malfunction. The
engine will then not be switched off automati-
cally when the vehicle stops.
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions
for proper use of the LDW system could result
in serious personal injury or death. The LDW
system will not steer the vehicle or prevent
loss of control. It is the driver’s responsibility
to stay alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in
the traveling lane, and be in control of the
vehicle at all times.
The LDW system warns the driver with a warn-
ing light and intermittent steering vibration that
the vehicle is beginning to leave the traveling
lane. The LDW system uses a camera

behind the windshield to monitor the lane
markers of your traveling lane.

HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE THE LDW
SYSTEM
1. Press theorbutton on the

When the LDW is activated, the vehicle
information display shows the lane mark- ings as bright lines in the assistance graphic
in the display area

When [Standard] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In this
event, the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving safety system intervenes, such as
ABS, brake assist system (BAS) or VDC.
When [Adaptive] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In this
case the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving system intervenes, such as ABS,
BAS or VDC.
•You accelerate forcefully.
•You brake forcefully.
•You steer actively, for example, swerve to
avoid an obstacle or change lane quickly.
•You cut the corner on a sharp bend.
The system may detect certain conditions and
warns you accordingly. The warning vibration occurs earlier if:
•You approach the outer lane marking on a
bend.
•The road has very wide lanes, for example, a
freeway.
•The system detects solid lane markings.
The warning vibration occurs later if:
•The road has narrow lanes.
•You cut across a corner on a bend.
LDW SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
LDW system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only a warning device to in-
form the driver of a potential unintended
lane departure. It will not steer the vehicle
or prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely,
keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.

RADAR MAINTENANCE
The two radar sensor unitsAfor the BSW
system are located near the rear bumper. Al-
ways keep the area near the radar sensors
clean.
The radar sensors may be blocked by temporary
ambient conditions such as splashing water,
mist or fog.
The blocked condition may also be caused by
objects such as ice, frost or dirt obstructing the
radar sensors.
Check for and remove objects obstructing the
area around the radar sensors.
Do not attach stickers (including transparent
material), install accessories or apply addi-
tional paint near the radar sensors. Do not strike or damage the area around the
radar sensors. It is recommended you consult
an INFINITI retailer if the area around the radar
sensors is damaged due to a collision.

Cruise control maintains a constant road speed
for you. It brakes automatically in order to avoid
exceeding the set speed. You must select a
lower gear in good time on long and steep
downhill gradients, especially if the vehicle is
laden or towing a trailer.WARNING
For vehicles with automatic transmission, you
need to have selected manual drive program M
(see
Manual drive program earlier in this sec-
tion). By doing so, you will make use of the
braking effect of the engine. This relieves the
load on the brake system and prevents the
brakes from overheating and wearing too
quickly.
Use cruise control only if road and traffic con-
ditions are appropriate for maintaining a steady
speed for a prolonged period. You can set the
cruise control at any road speed above 20 MPH
(30 km/h).
The speed indicated in the speedometer may
differ slightly from the set speed.

WARNING
•If you fail to adapt your driving style, cruise
control can neither reduce the risk of an
accident nor override the laws of physics.
Cruise control cannot take into account
road, weather or traffic conditions. Cruise
control is only an aid. You are responsible
for the distance to the vehicle in front, for
vehicle speed, for braking in good time, and
for staying in lane.
•Always observe the posted speed limits and
do not set the speed over them.
•Do not use the cruise control when driving
under the following conditions. Doing so
could cause a loss of vehicle control and
result in an accident.– When it is not possible to keep the ve-
hicle at a constant speed
– When driving in heavy traffic
– When driving in traffic that varies speed
– When driving in windy areas
– When driving on winding or hilly roads
– When driving on slippery (rain, snow,
ice, etc.) roads
CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONS
1Store the current speed or a higher speed
2Store the current speed, or if a speed has
previously been stored, call up the last
stored speed.
3Store the current speed or a lower speed
4Deactivate the cruise control system
When you activate cruise control, the stored
speed is shown in the vehicle information dis-
play for five seconds.
Activation conditions
To activate cruise control, all of the following
activation conditions must be fulfilled:
•The electric parking brake must be released.
•You are driving faster than 20 MPH (30
km/h).
•VDC must be switched on, but not interven-
ing.
Storing, maintaining and calling up a
speed
Storing and maintaining the current speed:
You can store the current speed if you are
driving faster than 20 MPH (30 km/h):
1. Accelerate the vehicle to the desired speed.
2. Briefly press the cruise controller lever up
1or down3.
3. Remove your foot from the accelerator pedal.
Cruise control is activated. The vehicle auto-
matically maintains the speed.
NOTE
Cruise control may be unable to maintain the
stored speed on uphill gradients. The stored
speed is resumed when the gradient evens out.
Cruise control maintains the stored speed on
downhill gradients by automatically braking the
vehicle.

WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions
for proper use of the ICC system could result in
serious injury or death.
•ICC is not a collision avoidance or warning
device. For highway and freeway way use
only and not intended for congested areas
or city driving. Failure to apply the brakes
could result in an accident. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
•Always observe posted speed limits and do
not set the speed over them.
•Always drive carefully and attentively when
using the ICC. Read and understand the
Owner’s Manual thoroughly before using
the ICC system. To avoid serious injury or
death, do not rely on the system to prevent
accidents or to control the vehicle’s speed
in emergency situations. Do not use the ICC
system except in appropriate road and traf-
fic conditions.

System operation
The driver sets the desired vehicle speed based
on the road conditions. The ICC system main-
tains the set vehicle speed, similar to standard
cruise control, as long as no vehicle is detected
in the lane ahead. The ICC system displays the
set speed for 5 seconds after the cruise control
lever is activated.
Vehicle detected ahead
:
When a vehicle is detected in the lane ahead,
the ICC system decelerates the vehicle by con-
trolling the throttle and applying the brakes to
match the speed of a slower vehicle ahead. The
system then controls the vehicle speed based
on the speed of the vehicle ahead to maintain
the driver selected distance.The brake lights of the vehicle come on when
braking is performed by the ICC system. When
the brake operates, a noise may be heard. This
is not a malfunction.
When a vehicle ahead is detected, the vehicle
ahead symbol
1appears in the vehicle infor-
mation display.
Vehicle ahead not detected
:
When a vehicle is no longer detected ahead, the
ICC system gradually accelerates your vehicle to
resume the previously set vehicle speed. The
ICC system then maintains the set speed.
When a vehicle is no longer detected, the
vehicle ahead display turns off

If a vehicle ahead appears during acceleration
to the set vehicle speed or any time the ICC system is in operation, the system controls the
distance to that vehicle.
Changing lanes to pass another
vehicle:
When you changes lane to pass another ve-
hicle, ICC supports the action if:
•The vehicle speed is more than 45 MPH
(70 km/h)
•The ICC is maintaining the distance to a
vehicle in front
•The respective turn signal is activated
If these conditions are met, the vehicle will be
accelerated. Acceleration will be interrupted if
changing lanes takes too long or if the distance
between your vehicle and the vehicle in front
becomes too small.

Approach warning
If your vehicle comes closer to the vehicle
ahead due to rapid deceleration of that vehicle
or if another vehicle cuts in, the system warns
the driver with the chime and distance warning
light. Decelerate by depressing the brake pedal
to maintain a safe vehicle distance if:
•The chime sounds.
•The distance warning light is illuminated.
The warning chime may not sound and the
distance warning light may not illuminate in
some cases when there is a short distance
between vehicles. Some examples are:
•When the vehicles are traveling at the same
speed and the distance between vehicles is
not changing. In this case, the distance
warning light will be on.
•When the vehicle ahead is traveling faster
and the distance between vehicles is increas-
ing.
•When a vehicle cuts in near your vehicle
•The warning chime will not sound and the
distance warning light will not illuminate
when: – The vehicle approaches other vehicles that are parked or moving slowly. – The accelerator pedal is depressed, over-
riding the system.
Also, the sensor sensitivity can be affected by
vehicle operation (steering maneuver or driving
position in the lane) or traffic or vehicle condi-
tion (for example, if a vehicle is being driven
with some damage).
Automatic cancellation
A chime sounds and the message [ICC off] is
displayed in the vehicle information display for
5 seconds under the following conditions and
the control is automatically canceled.
•The electric parking brake is applied.
•The VDC intervenes or the VDC is deacti-
vated.
•The P (Park), R (Reverse) or N (Neutral)
position is engaged.
•The cruise control lever is pulled in order to
pull away but the front passenger door or
one of the rear doors is open.
•The vehicle is skidding or a wheel slips.
•Active Park Assist is activated.
ICC LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
ICC system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only an aid to assist the
driver and is not a collision warning or
avoidance device. It is the driver’s responsi-
bility to stay alert, drive safely and be in
control of the vehicle at all times.
•The system is primarily intended for use on
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It
is not advisable to use the system in city
traffic or congested areas.
•This system will not adapt automatically to
road conditions. This system should be
used in evenly flowing traffic. Do not use the
system on roads with sharp curves, or on icy
roads, in heavy rain or in fog.
•As there is a performance limit to the dis-
tance control function, never rely solely on
the ICC system. This system does not cor-
rect careless, inattentive or absent-minded
driving, or overcome poor visibility in rain,
fog, or other bad weather. Decelerate the
vehicle speed by depressing the brake

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The sensor for the ICC systemAis located
behind the INFINITI logo at the front of the
vehicle.
To keep the ICC system operating properly, be
sure to observe the following:
•Always keep area around the sensor clean.
•Do not strike or damage the areas around the
sensor. Do not touch or remove the screw
located on the sensor. Doing so could cause
failure or malfunction. If the sensor is dam-
aged due to an accident, it is recommended
you contact an INFINITI retailer.
•Do not cover or attach stickers (including
transparent material) or install an accessory
near the sensor. This could cause failure or
malfunction.

The FEB system can assist the driver when there
