INTRODUCTIONCongratulations on selecting your new Chrysler
Group LLC vehicle. Be assured that it repre-
sents precision workmanship, distinctive styl-
ing, and high quality - all essentials that are
traditional to our vehicles.
This is a specialized utility vehicle. It can go
places and perform tasks that conventional
passenger cars are not intended. It handles
and maneuvers differently from many passen-
ger cars both on-road and off-road, so take
time to become familiar with your vehicle.
The two-wheel drive version of this vehicle was
designed for on-road use only. It is not intended
for off-road driving or use in other severe con-
ditions suited for a four-wheel drive vehicle.
Before you start to drive this vehicle, read the
Owner’s Manual and all the Supplements. Be
sure you are familiar with all vehicle controls,
particularly those used for braking, steering,
and transmission and transfer case shifting.
Learn how your vehicle handles on different
road surfaces. Your driving skills will improve
with experience, but as in driving any vehicle,
take it easy as you begin. When driving off-roador working the vehicle, don’t overload it or
expect it to overcome the forces of nature.
Always observe local laws wherever you drive.
As with other vehicles of this type, failure to
operate this vehicle correctly may result in loss
of control or a collision. Be sure to read the
“On-Road/ Off-Road Driving Tips” in “Starting
And Operating” for further information.
NOTE:
After reviewing the owner information, it
should be stored in the vehicle for conve-
nient referencing and remain with the ve-
hicle when sold.
Failure to operate this vehicle correctly may
result in loss of control or a collision.
Operating this vehicle at excessive speeds or
while intoxicated may result in loss of control,
collision with other vehicles or objects, going
off the road, or overturning; any of which may
lead to serious injury or death. Also, failure to
use seat belts subjects the driver and passen-
gers to a greater risk of injury or death.
To keep your vehicle running at its best, have
your vehicle serviced at recommended inter-vals by an authorized dealer or distributor who
has the qualified personnel, special tools and
equipment to perform all service.
The manufacturer and its distributors are vitally
interested in your complete satisfaction with
this vehicle. If you encounter a service or
warranty problem which is not resolved to your
satisfaction, discuss the matter with your autho-
rized dealer or distributor’s management.
Your authorized dealer or distributor will be
happy to assist you with any questions about
your vehicle.
ROLLOVER WARNINGUtility vehicles have a significantly higher roll-
over rate than other types of vehicles. This
vehicle has a higher ground clearance and a
higher center of gravity than many passenger
cars. It is capable of performing better in a
wide variety of off-road applications. Driven in
an unsafe manner, all vehicles can go out of
control. Because of the higher center of gravity,
if this vehicle is out of control it may roll over
when some other vehicles may not.

Do not attempt sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers,
or other unsafe driving actions that can cause
loss of vehicle control. Failure to operate this
vehicle safely may result in a collision, rollover
of the vehicle, and severe or fatal injury. Drive
carefully.
Failure to use the driver and passenger seat
belts provided is a major cause of severe or
fatal injury. In a rollover crash, an unbelted
person is significantly more likely to die than a

the assistance of service and engineering spe-
cialists to acquaint you with the operation and
maintenance of your new vehicle. It is supple-
mented by a Warranty Information Booklet and
various customer-oriented documents. You are
urged to read these publications carefully. Fol-
lowing the instructions and recommendations
in this Owner’s Manual will help assure safe
and enjoyable operation of your vehicle.
After you have read the Owner’s Manual, it
should be stored in the vehicle for convenient
reference and remain with the vehicle when
sold.
The manufacturer reserves the right to make

to make additions to or improvements in itsproducts without imposing any obligations
upon itself to install them on products previ-
ously manufactured.
The Owner’s Manual illustrates and describes
the features that are standard or available as

WARNINGS AND CAUTIONSThis Owner’s Manual containsWARNINGS
against operating procedures that could result
in a collision or bodily injury. It also contains
CAUTIONS against procedures that could re-
sult in damage to your vehicle. If you do not
read this entire manual, you may miss impor-
tant information. Observe all Warnings and
Cautions.
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBERThe Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is
found on a plate located on the left front corner
of the instrument panel pad, visible from out-
side of the vehicle through the windshield. This
number also is stamped into the right front
body, behind the right front seat. Move the right
front seat forward to allow better viewing of the
stamped VIN.
NOTE:
It is illegal to remove or alter the VIN.

could seriously affect its roadworthiness and
safety and may lead to a accident resulting in

NOTE:
You can insert the double-sided emergency
key into the lock cylinders with either side
up.
Removing Key Fob From IgnitionPlace the shift lever in PARK. Turn the Key Fob
to the OFF position and then remove the Key
Fob.
With the Keyless Enter-N-Go feature, the EVIC
will display the ignition switch position “OFF/
ACC/RUN”. Refer to “Electronic Vehicle Infor-
mation Center (EVIC)” in “Understanding Your
Instrument Panel” for further information.NOTE:
•
If you try to remove the Key Fob before
you place the shift lever in PARK, it may
become trapped temporarily in the igni-
tion switch. If this occurs, place the shift
lever in PARK, rotate the key to the right
slightly, then remove the Key Fob as de-
scribed. If a malfunction occurs, the sys-
tem may trap the key in the ignition switch
to warn you that this safety feature is
inoperable. The engine can be started and
stopped, but the Key Fob cannot be re-
moved until you obtain service.
• The power window switches, radio, power
sunroof (if equipped), and power outlets
will remain active for up to 10 minutes
after the ignition switch is turned to the
OFF position. Opening either front door
will cancel this feature. The time for this
feature is programmable. Refer to “Elec-
tronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)/
Personal Settings (Customer-Program-
mable Features)” in “Understanding Your
Instrument Panel” for further information.
CAUTION!
•If your vehicle battery becomes low or
dead, your Key Fob will become locked in
the ignition.
• Do not attempt to remove the Key Fob
while in this condition, damage could occur
to the Key Fob or ignition module. Only
remove the emergency key for locking and
unlocking the doors.
• Leave the Key Fob in the ignition and
either:
• Jump Start the vehicle.
• Charge the battery.
WARNING!
•When leaving the vehicle, always remove
the key fob from the ignition and lock your
vehicle.
• Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or
with access to an unlocked vehicle.

• Allowing children to be in a vehicle unat-
tended is dangerous for a number of rea-
sons. A child or others could be seriously or
fatally injured. Children should be warned
not to touch the parking brake, brake pedal
or the shift lever.
• Do not leave the key fob in or near the
vehicle, and do not leave Keyless Enter-
N-Go in the ACC or ON/RUN mode. A child
could operate power windows, other con-
trols, or move the vehicle.
• Do not leave children or animals inside
parked vehicles in hot weather. Interior
heat build-up may cause serious injury or
death.
CAUTION!
An unlocked car is an invitation to thieves.
Always remove Key Fob from the ignition and
lock all doors when leaving the vehicle unat-
tended.
Key-In-Ignition ReminderOpening the driver’s door when the Key Fob is
in the ignition and the ignition switch position is
OFF or ACC, sounds a signal to remind you to
remove the Key Fob.
NOTE:
The Key-In-Ignition reminder only sounds
when the Key Fob is placed in the OFF or
ACC ignition position.
With the Keyless Enter-N-Go feature, opening
the driver’s door when the vehicle’s ignition
switch is placed in ACC or ON/RUN (engine
stopped) will cause the reminder chime to
sound. Refer to “Starting Procedures” in “Start-
ing And Operating” for further information.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK — IF
EQUIPPED
Your vehicle may be equipped with a passive
electronic steering wheel lock. This lock pre-
vents steering the vehicle without the ignition
key. The steering wheel lock has six positions
(one every 60 degrees). If the steering wheel is
moved to one of these six position with the key
in the off positions, the steering wheel will lock.
To Manually Lock The Steering
Wheel
With the engine running, rotate the steering
wheel one-half revolution, turn off the engine
and remove the key. Turn the steering wheel
slightly in either direction until the lock en-
gages.
To Release The Steering Wheel LockCycle the ignition and start the engine.
NOTE:
If you turned the wheel to the right to engage
the lock, you must turn the wheel slightly to
the right to disengage it. If you turned the
wheel to the left to engage the lock, turn the
wheel slightly to the left to disengage it.
SENTRY KEYThe Sentry Key Immobilizer system prevents
unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling
the engine. The system does not need to be
armed or activated. Operation is automatic,
regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or
unlocked.

3. Remove and replace the battery. When re-
placing the battery, match the + sign on the
battery to the + sign on the inside of the battery
clip, located on the back cover. Avoid touching
the new battery with your fingers. Skin oils may
cause battery deterioration. If you touch a
battery, clean it with rubbing alcohol.
4. To assemble the RKE transmitter case, snap
the two halves together.
General InformationThe RKE transmitter and receivers operate on a
carrier frequency of 433.92 MHz as required by
EEC regulations. These devices must be certi-
fied to conform to specific regulations in each
individual country. Two sets of regulations are
involved: ETS (European Telecommunication
Standard) 300–220, which most countries use,
and German BZT federal regulation 225Z125,
which is based on ETC 300–220 but has addi-
tional unique requirements. Other defined re-
quirements are noted in ANNEX VI of COMMIS-
SION DIRECTIVE 95/56/EC. Operation is
subject to the following two conditions:
•This device may not cause harmful interfer-
ence. •
This device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may
cause undesired operation.
If your RKE transmitter fails to operate from a
normal distance, check for these two condi-
tions:
1. Weak battery in RKE transmitter. The ex-
pected life of the battery is a minimum of three
years.
2. Closeness to a radio transmitter such as a
radio station tower, airport transmitter, and
some mobile or CB radios.
DOOR LOCKSThe power door locks can be manually locked
from inside the vehicle by using the door lock
knob. To lock each door, push the door lock
knob on each door trim panel downward. To
unlock the front doors, pull the inside door
handle to the first detent. To unlock the rear
doors, pull the door lock knob on the door trim
panel upward. If the lock knob is down when
the door is closed, the door will lock. Therefore,
make sure the key is not inside the vehicle
before closing the door.
WARNING!
• For personal security and safety in the
event of an accident, lock the vehicle doors
when you drive, as well as when you park
and leave the vehicle.
• When leaving the vehicle, always remove
the key fob from the ignition and lock your
vehicle.
• Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or
with access to an unlocked vehicle.

Power Door LocksThe power door lock switch is located on each
front door panel. Press the switch to lock or
unlock the doors. If the lock knob is down when the door is
closed, the door will lock. Therefore, make sure
the Key Fob is not inside the vehicle before
closing the door.
If you press the door lock switch while the Key
Fob is in the ignition switch and the driver’s
door is open, the doors will not lock.
If a rear door is locked, it cannot be opened
from inside the vehicle without first unlocking
the door. The door may be unlocked manually
by raising the lock knob.Automatic Door Locks — If Equipped
The auto door lock feature default condition is
disabled. When enabled, the door locks will
lock automatically when the vehicle’s speed
exceeds 15 mph (24 km/h). The auto door lock
feature can be enabled or disabled by your
authorized dealer per written request of the
customer. Please see your authorized dealer
for service.
Automatic Unlock On Exit Feature — If
Equipped
If Auto Unlock is enabled, this feature will
unlock all the doors when the driver’s door is
opened if the vehicle is stopped and in PARK or
NEUTRAL. Refer to “Electronic Vehicle Informa-
tion Center (EVIC)/Personal Settings
(Customer-Programmable Features)” in “Un-
derstanding Your Instrument Panel” for further
information.
Child-Protection Door Lock
System — Rear Doors
To provide a safer environment for small chil-
dren riding in the rear seats, the rear doors are
equipped with Child-Protection Door Lock sys-
tem.

To Engage Or Disengage The Child-
Protection Door Lock System
1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert the tip of the emergency key into the
lock and rotate to the LOCK or UNLOCK posi-
tion.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the opposite rear
door.
WARNING!
Avoid trapping anyone in a vehicle in a colli-
sion. Remember that the rear doors can only
be opened from the outside when the Child-
Protection locks are engaged (locked).
NOTE:
For emergency exit from the rear seats when
the Child-Protection Door Lock System is
engaged, manually raise the door lock knob
to the unlocked position, roll down the win-
dow, and open the door using the outside
door handle.
KEYLESS ENTER-N-GOThe Passive Entry system is an enhancement to
the vehicle’s Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) sys-
tem and a feature of Keyless Enter-N-Go. This
feature allows you to lock and unlock the vehi-
cle’s door(s) without having to press the RKE
transmitter lock or unlock buttons.
NOTE:
• Passive Entry may be programmed ON/
OFF; refer to “Electronic Vehicle Informa-
tion Center (EVIC)/Personal Settings
(Customer-Programmable Features)” in
“Understanding Your Instrument Panel”
for further information.
• If a Passive Entry door handle has not
been used for 72 hours, the Passive Entry
feature for the handle may time out. Pull-
ing the deactivated front door handle will
reactivate the door handle’s Passive En-
try feature.
• If wearing gloves on your hands, or if it
has been raining on the Passive Entry
door handle, the unlock sensitivity can be
affected, resulting in a slower response
time.

The power window switches remain active for
up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch has
been turned OFF. Opening a vehicle front door
will cancel this feature.
WARNING!
Never leave children in a vehicle with the key
in the ignition switch or leave a vehicle with
Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC or ON/RUN
position. Occupants, particularly unattended
children, can become entrapped by the win-
dows while operating the power window
switches. Such entrapment may result in se-
rious injury or death.
Auto-Down
Both the driver and front passenger window
switches have an “Auto-Down” feature. Press
the window switch past the first detent, release,
and the window will go down automatically. To
cancel the “Auto-Down” movement, operate
the switch in either the up or down direction
and release the switch.
To open the window part way, press to the first
detent and release it when you want the win-
dow to stop. The power window switches remain active for
10 minutes after the ignition has been turned
OFF. Opening either front door will cancel this
feature.
Auto Up Feature With Anti-Pinch
Protection — Driver And Front Passenger
Door Only
Lift the window switch fully upward to the
second detent, release, and the window will go
up automatically.
To stop the window from going all the way up
during the Auto Up operation, push down on
the switch briefly.
To close the window part way, lift the window
switch to the first detent and release when you
want the window to stop.
