ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES
If, after buying the car, you decide to add electrical accessories (that will gradually drain the battery),
visit a Dealership. They can calculate the overall electrical requirement and check that the car’s
electric system can support the required load.
CODE card
Keep the code card in a safe place, not in the car. You should always keep the electronic code written
on the CODE card with you in case you need to carry out an emergency start-up procedure.
SCHEDULED SERVICING
Correct maintenance of the car is essential for ensuring it stays in tip-top condition and safeguards its
safety features, its environmental friendliness and low running costs for a long time to come.
THE OWNER HANDBOOK CONTAINS…
…information, tips and important warnings regarding the safe, correct driving of your car, and its
maintenance. Pay particular attention to the symbols "(personal safety) #(environmental
protection) â(car well-being).
Should the multifunction display show the message “See Handbook”, refer to section “Warning lights
and messages” in this Handbook.

INITIAL CHECK
Turning the ignition key to MAR, the multifunction display shows the message “Checking”: the diagnostic
phase of all the electronic systems on the car has started. This lasts few seconds: if no faults are detected, when
the engine has started, the display shows the “Check OK” message.
See section “Warning lights and messages” if faults are found.
Is the
engine
started?YES
If no failures are
present
The “Service schedule” includes vehicle maintenance every 20,000 km (or 12,000 mi) or every year; this is shown automatically,
with the ignition key at MAR, starting from 2,000 km (or 1,240 mi) or 30 days from this deadline and it is shown again every 200
km (or 124 mi) or 3 days. For 1.3 Multijet versions, see “Care and Maintenance” in section “Service schedule to change engine oil
and filter and air cleaner. When a programmed maintenance interval (coupon) is near to come, turning the ignition key to MAR, will
display the message “Service” followed by the number of km, or days to go before car servicing. “Scheduled servicing” message is
displayed in km, miles or days according to the approaching service interval. Contact a Lancia Dealership to carry out any service
operation provided by the “Service schedule” or “Annual inspection plan”, and to reset the display.
If the display shows a failure
message, see details in section
“Warning lights and messages”.

CONTAINING RUNNING COSTS
Here are some suggestions which may help you to
keep the running costs of your car down and lower
the amount of toxic emissions released into the
atmosphere.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
Car maintenance
Have checks and adjustments carried out in
accordance with the “Service schedule”.Tyres
Check the pressure of the tyres routinely at an
interval of no more than 4 weeks: if the pressure is
too low, consumption levels increase as resistance to
rolling is higher.
Unnecessary loads
Do not travel with too much luggage stowed in the
boot. The weight of the car (especially when driving
in town) and its trim greatly affects consumption
and stability.

SCHEDULED SERVICING
Correct maintenance is essential for ensuring long
car life under the best conditions.
This is why Lancia has programmed a series of
checks and maintenance operations every 20,000
km.
It is however important to remember that scheduled
servicing does not completely cover all the car’s
requirements: also in the initial period before
20,000 km service coupon and later, between one
coupon and another, ordinary care is still required
such as for example routine check and topping up
the level of fluids, tyre pressure check, etc...
IMPORTANT The Programmed Maintenance
coupons are specified by the Manufacturer. The
failure to have them carried out may invalidate the
warranty.
Scheduled Servicing is performed by all Lancia
Dealership, at pre-established times. If during each operation, in addition to the ones
programmed, the need arises for further
replacements or repairs, these may be carried out
only with the explicit agreement of the Customer.
IMPORTANT You are advised to contact Lancia
Dealership in the event of any minor operating
faults, without waiting for the next service coupon.
If your car is used frequently for towing, the
interval between one service coupon and the other
must be reduced.

IMPORTANT - Engine oil
Should prevailing use of the car be under one of the
following specially heavy conditions:
❒trailer or caravan towing;
❒dusty roads;
❒short distances (less than 7-8 km) repeated and
with external temperatures below zero;
❒frequently idling engines or long distance low
speed driving (e.g. taxis or door-to-door
deliveries) or in case of a long term inactivity;
replace engine oil more frequently than required on
“Service schedule”.
IMPORTANT - Air cleaner
If the car is used on dusty roads change the air
cleaner more frequently than the indications in the
“Service schedule”.
If in doubt as to how often the engine oil and air
cleaner should be changed according to how you use
the car, contact a Lancia Dealership.IMPORTANT - Pollen filter
If the vehicle is used frequently in dusty or heavily
polluted environments it is advisable to replace the
filtering element more frequently; in particular it
should be replaced if a reduction of the amount of
air admitted to the passenger compartment is noted.
IMPORTANT - Diesel filter
The possibility of topping up with diesel fuel not
complying with EN590 European Norm might
make it necessary to replace the filter more
frequently than indicated in the “Service schedule”.
