Signals from t he st eeri ng angl e s ens or are trans mi tt ed on t he vehicle hi gh s peed CAN bus , and received and proces sed byother s yst ems s uch as DSC. The trans mi tt ed i nformat ion i ncl udes det ails of st eering wheel angle and s t eering wheelrot ati onal s peed, along wit h s ignal i ntegri ty informati on.
If a fault occurs wi thi n t he st eeri ng angl e s ens or, a DTC wi ll be s et and s tored in t he s teering angle s ens or memory. Thes teeri ng angle s ensor faul t is al s o s tored in the ABS modul e memory that i lluminates t he appropri at e warning i ndi cat orlamps , depending on the sys tem functi ons affect ed (DSC/ETC, ABS, EBA/EBD, HDC). A warni ng chi me i s als o s ounded t oalert the driver to the fault condi ti on.
For vehicles ins tall ed wit h a high-l ine i ns t rument clus ter, a mes s age is di spl ayed in t he mes sage center, onl y if t he faul taffect s t he HDC funct ion.

Clockspring
The clocks pri ng is a rot ary coupling that provides t he electrical connect ion bet ween the fixed s t eering wheel module, andt he st eeri ng wheel mount ed cont rols and Supplement al Res t raint Sys tem (SRS) dri ver's ai rbag.
A colored indicator i s provided wi thi n the cl ocks pring and is vis i bl e t hrough a t rans parent pers pex cover when the s t eeringwheel i s removed, and t he st eeri ng angl e s ens or is aligned t o t he cent ral posi ti on. The indicator makes s ure t he s teeringangl e s ensor and s t eering s ys tem are correct ly al igned fol lowi ng repairs t o the st eeri ng mechanis m.
Service Information
Before s eparat ing the s t eering component s from the connect ing s t eering column, t he clocks pri ng mus t be ali gned to thecent er pos i ti on (i ndi cat or vi s ible) and t he wheels point ing s t raight ahead. The clockspring i s ret ained i n the cent ralposi ti on wit h a locki ng s crew.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
The MIL is locat ed in the upper left hand corner of t he ins trument cl ust er, wi thi n the tachometer. Trans mi s si on rel atedfaul ts whi ch may affect t he vehicle emis si ons out put wil l ill uminat e t he MIL.
The MIL is ill uminat ed by the ECM on receipt of a relevant fault mes s age from t he TCM on the CAN. The nature of the faultcan be diagnosed us ing a Land Rover approved diagnos t ic s ys tem which reads faul t codes s t ored i n t he TCM memory.
Transmission Status Display
The t ransmis s ion s t at us dis play i s located on the right hand s ide of t he ins trument cl ust er, i n t he s peedometer LCDdis play. The dis play s hows the sel ect or lever P R N D pos it ion and i n the cas e of manual ('CommandShift™ ') mode, thes elect ed gear. W hen the s elector l ever i s moved to the 'Sport' pos it ion, 'SPORT' i s dis played below the CommandShift™gear di spl ay.

For drivers who make regular s hort journeys at low s peeds , i t may not be poss i bl e t o efficient ly regenerat e t he DPF. In t hiscas e, t he DPF s oft ware wi ll detect a bl ockage of the DPF from s ignals from t he different ial pres sure s ens or and wi ll alertt he driver as fol lows .

If t he DPF s oft ware det ect s t hat t he DPF i s s ti llblocked, t he mes sage will change to 'DPF FULL VISIT DEALER', the driver should take t he vehi cl e t o an authorized deal er tohave the DPF force regenerat ed.

Engine Oil Dilution
Engi ne oil dil uti on can occur due to smal l amount s of fuel entering t he engine crankcas e duri ng t he pos t -i njecti on phas es .This has made i t neces s ary t o i nt roduce a calculat ion bas ed on dri vi ng s tyle to reduce oil s ervice i nt ervals if neces s ary.The dri ver i s alerted t o t he oil s ervice by a mes sage i n t he ins trument cl ust er.
The DPF s oft ware moni tors t he drivi ng s tyle and the frequency of t he acti ve regenerati on and durati on. Us i ng thi sinformat ion a cal culat ion can be made on the engi ne oil dil ut ion. W hen t he DPF s oft ware cal cul at es t he engi ne oil dil uti onhas reached a predetermined t hres hold (fuel being 7% of engi ne oil volume) a s ervi ce mes sage i s dis played in theins t rument clus ter.
Dependi ng on dri vi ng s tyle, s ome vehicles may require an oil s ervi ce before t he des ignated i nterval. If an s ervice mess ageis di s pl ayed, t he vehi cl e wi ll be requi red have a full s ervice and t he s ervice i nt erval count er will be res et .
Fuel consumption
Duri ng the act ive regenerat ion proces s of the DPF, t here wi ll be an i ncrease in fuel cons umpt ion. However, becaus e acti veregenerat ion occurs infrequent ly and for li mit ed peri ods of t ime, the overall effect on fuel cons umpt ion i s approxi mat el y2%. The addit ional fuel us ed during t he act ive regenerat ion proces s i s accounted for in t he i ns t ant aneous and average fuelcons umpt ion dis plays i n t he ins trument cl ust er.

DOOR MODULES
The door modul es provide t he int erface bet ween the door lat ch mot ors , the door and lat ch swit ches and t he CJB. The doormodules provi de door mi cros wit ch st atus informati on and enabl e t he door mot ors on reques t from the CJB.
The rear door modul es are controll ed via t he front door modules on the Local Interconnect Net work (LIN) bus . Addit ionally,t he front door modules als o control the ext erior mi rror functi ons .
CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX
The CJB cont rol s the foll owing funct ions:

• NOTE: If the CJB i s repl aced, the new modul e wi ll require confi guring t o t he mas ter car configurat ion us ing a Land Roverapproved diagnos t ic s yst em.
The CJB automat ically arms and di sarms t he acti ve ant i-theft sys t em when t he vehi cl e i s locked and unl ocked afters uccess ful confi rmat ion t hat a vali d remot e handset has been us ed.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The ins t rument clus ter cont rol s the al arm indicat or whi ch is i ncorporated i n t he main dis play in the ins trument cl us t er.
The ins t rument clus ter als o controls , in conjuncti on wit h t he CJB, t he Engine Control Modul e (ECM) and t he Ant i-lock BrakeSyst em (ABS) module, the engine immobi lizat ion. The ECM cont rol s t he engi ne crank and fuel functi ons and the ABSmodule controls t he t il t funct ion. The EMS and ABS modul e communicate to each ot her after t he CJB proces s es the val idremot e handset i nformat ion.
Alarm Indicator

If a fault exi st s i n the immobi lizat ion s yst em, t he LED wil l be eit her permanent ly ill uminated or flas hing for 60 s econds.This i ndi cat es t hat a fault exis t s and a faul t code has been recorded. After t he 60 s econd peri od, t he LED wi ll flas h atdifferent frequenci es which indicat e the nat ure of t he faul t.
