1Press the talk switch.
zAfter the “Shortcuts” screen has been dis-
played, voice guidance will commence.
2After a beep sounds, say or select the
desired command.
zSpeech commands are marked with .
Some commonly used commands are dis-
played on the screen.
3Say or select the command displayed on
the screen.

2Saying “Main menu” or selecting “Main
menu” .
3Say or select the desired function com-
mand.
4Say or select the desired command on
the screen.
zRegistered POIs, registered names in the
contacts list etc., can be said in the place of
the “ ” next to the commands. ( →P. 2 2 7 )
For example: Say “Find nearby Restau-
rants” , “Call John Smith” etc.
z If a desired outcome is not shown, or if no
selections are available, perform one of the
following to return to the previous screen:
•Say “Go back”
•Select “Go back”
z To cancel voice recognition, select
“Cancel” , or press and hold the talk switch.

zA confirmation screen will be displayed
showing the recognition results.
3Say “Yes” or select “Yes”.
zThe system starts searching for a route to
your home.
z When the speech command is recognized,
the map of the area around the home
address will be displayed and route guid-
ance to the home address will begin.
INFORMATION
●
If the system does not respond or the
confirmation screen does not disappear,
press the talk switch and try again.
●If a speech command cannot be recog-
nized, voice guidance will say “Pardon?”
and speech command reception will
restart.
●If a speech command cannot be recog-
nized 2 consecutive times, the speech
command guidance system will say “To
restart voice recognition, push the talk
switch.”. Then voice recognition will be
suspended.
●The voice recognition prompt can be set
to on or off when “Voice recognition
prompts” is selected. This setting can also
be changed on the “Voice settings”
screen. ( →P. 7 2 )
●Voice guidance can be canceled by set-
ting voice prompts to off. Use this setting
when it is desirable to say a command
immediately after pressing the talk switch
and hearing a beep.
●The “Side Display” cannot be operated
during voice recognition.

according to the voice recognition lan-
guage.
z Some areas cannot be recognized by the
voice recognition system.

zSay the desired house number in the place
of the “<>”. It is possible to only say the num-
bers. For example, 1,2,3,4 etc. (It is not pos-
sible to say cardinals.) Inputting the house
number can be skipped.
z Say the desired full street name that
belongs to the set country in the place of
the “<>”. If only the city name was said at
step 3, say the street name. If the street
name is not unique, select the appropriate
number from the displayed address list.
z Say the desired city name or city name and
street name that belongs to the set country
in the place of the “<>”. Not just the city
name, but the city name and street name
can be said at the same time. If both are
said at the same time and the street name is
not unique, select the appropriate number
from the displayed address list.
4Say or select “Enter”.
zA map corresponding to the decided
address is displayed. To set the displayed
point as a destination, say “Enter”.
z If multiple points exist, the next point can be
displayed by saying “Next”.

matching items are found, a selection
screen will be displayed.

INFORMATION
●
To change the country to be searched,
say “Change country” when the screen to
say the city name is displayed and the
screen will change to the country input
screen.
●The house number voice recognition
conditions are outlined below:
• Numerals: 10 digits or less
• Cardinals cannot be recognized.
• Numerals are recognized as single dig-
its only.

command recognition cannot be used.

the contacts have been transferred to the

z In the same manner as it is displayed on the
screen, “Call ”, after saying
“Call”
say the name of a contact.
Fo r example: “Call”, “J o h n S m i t h ”
z Short or abbreviated names in the contact
list may not be recognized. Change names
in the contact list to full names.
z Sometimes a voice recognition result con-
firmation screen will be displayed. After
confirming the result, say “Dial”.
z When the system recognizes multiple
names from the contact list, a name candi-
date list will be displayed on the screen. If
the desired name is not displayed on the
top of the screen, say the number of the
name from the candidate list to select a
name from the candidate list.
INFORMATION
●
A USB memory or iPod must be con-
nected to enable track searching and
playback. ( →P.180, 185)
●When a USB memory or iPod is con-
nected, recognition data is created so
tracks can be searched using speech
commands.
●Recognition data is updated under the
following conditions:
• When the USB memory or iPod data
has changed.
• When the voice recognition language is changed. ( →P. 6 5 )
●While the recognition data is being cre-
ated or being updated, a track search
cannot be performed using a speech
command.
●When “Play music” is dimmed in the
“Shortcuts” screen, it is not possible to
search for a track using a speech com-
mand. In this situation, reduce the amount
of music data in the USB memory or iPod
and update the recognition data to
enable searching by speech command.

zWhen a contact has multiple telephone
numbers registered in the contact list, a
candidate list will be displayed. If the
desired telephone number is not displayed
on the top of the screen, say the number of
the desired telephone number from the
candidate list to select a telephone number
from the candidate list.
3Say or select “Dial” to call the telephone
number.

z “Dial ” is displayed in the
“Shortcuts” screen.
z When “Dial ” on the “Shortcuts”
screen is dimmed, the telephone number
voice recognition cannot be used. Check
the Bluetooth
® phone connection.
2Say the telephone number.

screen, “Dial ”, after saying “Dial”
say the telephone number.
z Say the telephone number one digit at a
time.
For example, if the telephone number is
2345678:
Say “two three four five six seven eight”
z As the system cannot recognize additional
numbers, say the complete number without
stopping.
z When the system recogn izes multiple tele-
phone numbers, a telephone number can-
didate list will be displayed on the screen. If
the desired telephone number is not dis-
played on the top of the screen, say the
number of the desired telephone number
from the candidate list to select a telephone
number from the candidate list.
3Say or select “Dial” to call the telephone
number.

1. LEXUS PARKING ASSIST MONITOR
The parking assist monitor assists the
driver by displaying an image of the view
behind the vehicle while backing up, for
example while parking.
The parking assist monitor assists with
the following 2 backing-up operations:
(1) Perpendicular parking (parking in agarage, etc.)
(2) Parallel parking (parking at the side of the road, etc.)
INFORMATION
●The screen illustrations used in this text
are intended as examples, and may differ
from the image that is actually displayed
on the screen.
DRIVING PRECAUTIONS
The parking assist monitor is a supple-
mental device intended to assist the
driver when backing up. When backing
up, be sure to visually check all around
the vehicle both directly and using the
mirrors before proceeding. If you do
not, you may hit another vehicle, and
could possibly cause an accident.
Pay attention to the following precau-
tions when using the parking assist mon-
itor.
WA R N I N G
● Never depend on the parking assist mon-
itor entirely when backing up. The image
and the position of the guide lines dis-
played on the screen may differ from the
actual state.
Use caution, just as you would when
backing up any vehicle.
● Be sure to back up slowly, depressing the
brake pedal to control vehicle speed.
● If you seem likely to hit nearby vehicles,
obstacles, people or mount the shoulder,
depress the brake pedal to stop the vehi-
cle, then disable the assist system by
selecting on the screen to cancel
the system.
