streaks or damage to painted surfaces:
• Audio system screen: Organic substances such as benzine or gasoline, alkaline solutions, and alcohol
• Seats: Alkaline solutions, organic substances such as thinner or benzine, and alco-
hol • Other parts: Organic substances such as benzine or gasoline, alkaline or acidic
solutions, dye, and bleach
â—Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel’s or other interior part’s
painted surface may be damaged.
â– Preventing damage to leather surfaces
Observe the following precautions to avoid damage to and deterioration of leather
surfaces:
â—Remove any dust or dirt from leather surfaces immediately.
â—Do not expose the vehicle to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Park the
vehicle in the shade, especially during summer.
â—Do not place items made of vinyl, plastic, or containing wax on the upholstery, as they may stick to the leather surface if the vehicle interior heats up significantly.
â– Water on the floor
Do not wash the vehicle floor with water. Vehicle systems such as the audio system ma y be damaged if water comes into contact
with electrical components such as the au dio system above or under the floor of the
vehicle. Water may also cause the body to rust.
â– When cleaning the inside of the windshie ld (vehicles with Lexus Safety System+)
Do not allow glass cleaner to contact the lens. Also, do not touch the lens. ( ï‚®P. 259)
â– Cleaning the inside of the rear window
â—Do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window, as this may cause damage to the
rear window defogger heater wires or antenna. Use a cloth dampened with luke-
warm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe the window in strokes running parallel to the heater wires or antenna.
â—Be careful not to scratch or dama ge the heater wires or antenna.

When trouble arises
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
â– Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insu fficient or the voltage temporarily drops, the electric power steering system warning light may come on and the warning buzzer
may sound.
â– When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Carry out the following procedure after the tire temperature has lowered sufficiently.
â—Check the tire inflation pressure an d adjust to the appropriate level.
â—If the warning light does not go out even after several minutes, check that the tire infla- tion pressure is at the specifie d level and carry out initialization.
The warning light may come on again if the above operations are conducted without first
allowing the tire temperature to lower sufficiently.
â– The tire pressure warning light ma y come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such as natural air
leaks and tire inflation pressure changes caus ed by temperature. In this case, adjusting the tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few minutes).
â– Conditions that the tire pressure warning system may not function properly
ï‚®P. 529
â– If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute when the
power switch is turned to ON mode, have it checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
â– Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer ma y not be heard due to being in a noisy location or audio
sound.

When trouble arises
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
Maintain the engine speed of the second vehicle and start the hybrid system
of your vehicle by turning the power switch to ON mode.
Make sure the “READY†indicator comes on. If the indicator does not come
on, contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
Once the hybrid system has started, remove the jumper cables in the exact
reverse order from which they were connected.
Once the hybrid system starts, have the vehicle inspected at any authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repair er, or any reliable repairer as soon as
possible.
â– Starting the hybrid system when the 12-volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by push-starting.
â– To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
â—Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the hybrid system is off.
â—Turn off any unnecessary electrical componen ts when the vehicle is running at a low
speed for an extended period , such as in heavy traffic.
â– Charging the 12-volt battery
The electricity stored in the 12-volt battery w ill discharge gradually even when the vehicle
is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of certain electrical appli-
ances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the 12-volt battery may discharge, and the hybrid system may be unable to start. (The 12-volt battery recharges automatically while
the hybrid system is operating.)
â– When recharging or repl acing the 12-volt battery
â—In some cases, it may not be possible to unlock the doors using the smart entry & start
system when the 12-volt battery is discharged. Use the wireless remote control or the
mechanical key to lock or unlock the doors.
â—The hybrid system may not start on the first attempt after the 12-volt battery has
recharged but will start normally after the second attempt. This is not a malfunction.
â—The power switch mode is memorized by the vehicle. When the 12-volt battery is reconnected, the system will retu rn to the mode it was in before the 12-volt battery was
discharged. Before disconnecting the 12-vol t battery, turn the power switch off.
If you are unsure what mode the power switch was in before the 12-volt battery dis- charged, be especially careful when reconnecting the 12-volt battery.
