Brake System
Illuminates red when you apply theparking brake and the ignition ison. If it illuminates when yourvehicle is moving, make sure theparking brake is released. If theparking brake is released, this indicates lowbrake fluid level or the brake system requiresservice. Have your vehicle checked as soonas possible.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Door Ajar
Illuminates when you switch theignition on and remains on if anydoor is open.
Electric Parking Brake
Illuminates yellow or flashes whenthe electric parking brake requiresservice.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Engine Coolant Temperature
If it illuminates, safely stop yourvehicle and switch it off.
Fasten Seatbelt
Illuminates and a tone sounds untilyou fasten the seatbelts.
Fasten Rear Seatbelt
Illuminates and a tone sounds tosignal the rear seatbelts are notfastened.
Hood Ajar
Illuminates when the ignition is onand the hood is not completelyclosed.
Liftgate Ajar
Illuminates when the liftgate is notcompletely closed.
Low Beam Warning

Hood Ajar
Illuminates when the ignition is onand the hood is not completelyclosed.
Liftgate Ajar

Low Beam Warning

Oil Pressure
WARNING: If it illuminates when youare driving do not continue your journey,even if the oil level is correct. Have yourvehicle checked.
Illuminates when the engine oilpressure is low.
Powertrain Fault
Illuminates when the systemdetects a powertrain or a4WD/AWD fault. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Stop Safely Now
Illuminates if your vehicle has anelectrical component fault or failurethat could cause your vehicle toshut down or enter into a limited operatingmode. A message could also display.

All electrical circuits and accessories areoperational and the warning lamps andindicators illuminate.
Note:Your vehicle has a battery saverfeature that shuts your vehicle off when itdetects a certain amount of battery drain, orafter approximately 30 minutes of inactivityin accessory mode.
Note:The system may not function if theremote control is close to metal objects orelectronic devices, for example keys or acell phone.
Note:You need a valid key inside yourvehicle to switch the ignition on and start theengine.
STARTING THE ENGINE
STARTING A GASOLINE ENGINE
Before starting your vehicle, check thefollowing:
•Make sure that the headlamps andelectrical accessories are off.
•Make sure that the parking brake is on.
•Make sure that the transmission is in park(P).
1.Fully press the brake pedal.
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
2.Press the push button ignition switch.
Note:The engine may continue cranking forup to 15 seconds or until it starts.
Note:The engine takes longer to start atlower temperatures. It may crank for severalseconds when very cold.
STARTING A HYBRID ELECTRICVEHICLE SYSTEM
Before starting your vehicle, check thefollowing:
•Make sure the headlamps and electricalaccessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Make sure the transmission is in park (P).
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1.Fully press the brake pedal.
2.Press the push button ignition switch.
When you start your vehicle, agreen indicator light appears in theinstrument cluster letting you knowthat your vehicle is ready for driving. Sinceyour vehicle is equipped with a silent keystart, the engine may not start when yourvehicle starts.

2.Press the button on the left side of theinstrument panel next to the headlampswitch to open the fuel filler door. Thefuel filler door can take up to 15 secondsto open before you can insert a fuel fillernozzle.
3.Insert the fuel pump nozzle up to the firstnotch on the nozzle A. Keep it restingon the cover of the fuel tank filler pipeopening.
4.Hold the fuel pump nozzle in position Bwhen refueling. Holding the fuel pumpnozzle in position A can affect the flowof fuel and shut off the fuel pump nozzlebefore the fuel tank is full.
5.Operate the fuel pump nozzle within thearea shown.
6.When the nozzle shuts off, wait at least5 seconds, then slightly raise the fuelpump nozzle and slowly remove it.
7.Fully close the fuel filler door.
Note:Leaving the fuel door open could seta check engine lamp. See Fuel andRefueling – Troubleshooting (page 231).
Complete the refueling process within 20minutes. If 20 minutes elapses, press thebutton on the left side of the instrumentpanel again. Fuel pump nozzle automaticshut off could occur if you do not press thebutton on the left side of the instrumentpanel.

WHAT IS SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION
Speed sign recognition detects speed limitsigns to inform you of the current speed limit.Detected speed signs appear in theinstrument cluster display.
HOW DOES SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION WORK
Speed sign recognition uses a sensor behindthe interior mirror to detect speed signs.
If your vehicle has speed sign recognitionwith navigation, stored speed sign data mayinfluence the indicated speed limit value.

PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility todrive with due care and attention. Failureto follow this instruction could result in theloss of control of your vehicle, personalinjury or death.
WARNING: In cold and severeweather conditions the system may notfunction. Rain, snow and spray can all limitsensor performance.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly if the sensor is blocked.Keep the windshield free from obstruction.
WARNING: Do not performwindshield repairs in the area surroundingthe sensor.
WARNING: The system may notcorrectly operate if your vehicle is fittedwith a suspension kit not approved byFord.
WARNING: Not all traffic signs canbe recognized by the system anddisplayed correctly.
Note:Always fit our original parts whenreplacing headlamp bulbs. Other bulbs mayreduce system performance. See ExteriorBulb Specification Chart (page 450).
SPEED SIGN RECOGNITION
LIMITATIONS
Speed sign recognition may not operatecorrectly due to:
•Outdated map data.
•Incorrect recognition of speed limits bythe sensor of signs on parallel roads orexit ramps.
•Missed recognition of faded, dirty, ordistorted signs.

Removing the Jumper Cables
Remove the jumper cables in the reverseorder that they were connected.
Note:Do not switch the headlamps on whendisconnecting the cables. The peak voltagecould blow the bulbs.
JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE -GASOLINE
Connecting the Jumper Cables
WARNING: Do not connect thenegative jumper cable to any other part ofyour vehicle. Use the ground point.
Note:If you are using a jump pack or boosterbox, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
1.Pull the red rubber boot backward.Connect the positive (+) jumper cable tothe positive (+) terminal of the dischargedbattery.
2.Connect the other end of the positive (+)jumper cable to the positive (+) terminalof the booster vehicle battery.
3.Connect the negative (-) jumper cable tothe negative (-) terminal of the boostervehicle battery.
4.Make the final connection of the negative(-) jumper cable to an exposed metal partof the disabled vehicle's engine, asshown in the following illustration, awayfrom the battery and fuel injectionsystem, or connect the negative (-)jumper cable to a ground connectionpoint if available.

Starting the Engine
1.Start the engine of the booster vehicleand moderately rev the engine, or gentlypress the accelerator to keep the enginespeed between 2000 RPM and 3000RPM, as shown in your tachometer.
2.Start the engine of the disabled vehicle.
3.Once you start the disabled vehicle, runboth vehicle engines for an additionalthree minutes before disconnecting thejumper cables.

POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEM
WHAT IS THE POST-CRASH ALERTSYSTEM
The system helps draw attention to yourvehicle in the event of a serious impact.
HOW DOES THE POST-CRASH ALERTSYSTEM WORK
The system is designed to turn the hazardflashers on, turn the courtesy lamps on,intermittently sound the horn and unlock alldoors in the event of a serious impact thatdeploys an airbag or the seatbeltpretensioners.
POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEMLIMITATIONS
Depending on applicable laws in the countryyour vehicle was built for, the horn does notsound in the event of a serious impact.
SWITCHING THE POST-CRASH ALERTSYSTEM OFF
Press the hazard flasher switch, the unlockbutton on the remote control, the panicbutton on the remote control or cycle theignition to switch the system off.
Note:The alert turns off when the vehiclebattery runs out of charge.
POST IMPACT BRAKING
HOW DOES POST IMPACT BRAKINGWORK
In the event of a moderate to severe crash,the braking system reduces the vehicle’sspeed to prevent or reduce the impact of apotential secondary crash.
POST IMPACT BRAKING LIMITATIONS
Post impact braking does not activate if anyof the following occur:
