ELECTRICAL PARTS GI SENSORS, SWITCHES, AND RELAYS Handle sensors, switches, and relays carefully. Do not drop them or strike them against other objects. kD YELLOW WIRING HARNESS Wiring color codes Two-color wires are indicated by a two-color code sym- bol. The first letter indicates the base color of the wire and the second the color of the stripe. IGI Green 11 R 1 Red I B BR COLOR FUSE Replacement 1. When replacing a fuse, be sure to replace it with one of the specified capacity. If a fuse again fails after it has been replaced, the circuit probably has a short and the wiring should be checked. 2. Be sure the negative battery terminal is disconnected before replacing a main fuse (80A). CODE CODE Black Brown GY L LB LG 3. ENGINE TUNE-UP B lgnition Timing 1. Connect the SST and set the TEST SW to "SELF TEST or connect data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a ium~er wire. ~ 4 2. Check the'idle speed, and set it to specification if neces- sary. (Refer to section F.) ldle speed (Neutral): 800-900 (850 + 50) rpm [MT] (P range): 750-450 (800 + 50) rpm [AT] 3. Verify that the timing mark (White) on the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt cover are aligned. lgnition timing: BTDC 9"-11" (1 0" + 1 ") 4. If the marks are not aligned, loosen the crankshaft posi- tion sensor lock bolt, and turn the crankshaft position sensor to make the adjustment 5. Tighten the crankshaft position sensor lock bolt to the specified torque. Tightening torque: 19-25 N.m {I .9--2.6 kgf.m, 1 &-I8 ft-lbf) 6. Disconnect the SST. 7. Verify that the ignition timing is within the specification. Ignition timing: BTDC 6-18" ldle Speed 1. Connect the SST and set the TEST SW to "SELF-TEST or connect data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a jumper wire. 2. Verify that the idle speed is within specification. ldle speed (Neutral): 800-900 (850 + 50) rpm [MT] (P range): 75-50 (800 -e 50) rpm [AT] 3. If the idle speed is not within specification, remove the blind cap from the air adjusting screw and adjust it. 4. After adjusting the idle speed, install the blind cap and disconnect the SST or jumper wire from the data link connector. Gartner Banana

ON-VEHICLE MAINTENANCE B CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR DRIVE GROOVE 45UOBX-04 Removal Note Camshaft pulley 1. Hold the camshaft with a wrench at the cast hexagon. 2. Remove the camshaft pulley lock bolts. 3. Remove the camshaft pulleys. Camshaft 1. Loosen the camshaft cap bolts in two or three steps in the order shown in the figure. 2. Remove the camshaft caps. 3. Remove the camshafts. 4. Remove the camshaft oil seals from the camshafts. HLA Caution The HLA must be reinstalled in the same posi- tions from which they were removed. If they are not, it can cause premature and uneven wear. Note Mark the HLA to show their original positions. Remove the HLA from the cylinder head. Installation Note HLA 1. Apply clean engine oil to the friction surfaces. 2. If the HLA are being reused, install them in the position from which they were removed. 3. Verify that the HLA move smoothly in their bores. Camshaft Note The exhaust camshaft has a groove for the crank- shaft position sensor drive. 1. Apply clean engine oil to the camshaft journals and bear- ings. 2. Install the camshaft in position.
