Speedome ter
The stored speed is highlighted on the speedom‐
et er. If the speed of theve hicle in front is less
th an thestored speed, the segments in the
speedome ter light up. Deactivation of Active Dis‐
ta nce Assi stDISTRONIC, as well as alterations to
th estored speed and the dis tance tobe main‐
ta ined, are displa yed in the control feedback of
th e multifunction display on a single line. Fu
nction of Hill Start Assist Hill
Start Assist holds theve hicle for a short
time when pulling away on a hill under thefo l‐
lowing conditions:
R The transmission is in position hork.
R The elect ric pa rking brake is released.
This gives you enough time tomo veyour foot
from the brake pedal tothe accelera tor pedal
and depress it before theve hicle begins toroll
aw ay. &
WARNING Risk of accident and inju ry
due totheve hicle rolling away
Af ter a short time, Hill Start Assist no lon ger
holds theve hicle and it can rollaw ay. #
Therefore, swiftly mo veyour foot from
th e brake pedal tothe accelerator
pedal. Ne ver attem pttolea vetheve hi‐
cle if it is being held byHill Start Assist. HOLD function
HOLD function
The HOLD function holds
theve hicle at a stand‐
st ill without requ iring youto depress the brake
pedal, e.g. while waiting in traf fic.
The HOLD function is only an aid. The responsi‐
bility forth eve hicle safely standing still remains
with the driver.
Sy stem limitations
The HOLD function is only intended toprov ide
assis tance when driving and is not a su fficient
means of safeguarding theve hicle against rolling
aw ay when stationar y.
R The incline must not be greater than 30%. Driving and parking

START Fu
nction of RACE START
RACE START enables optimal vehicle accelera‐
tion from a standstill. Forth is, a suitably high-
grip road sur face is requ ired, the tyres and vehi‐
cle must also be in good condition.
% RACE START is only available af terth eve hi‐
cle has been run in (/ page 114).
% RACE START may not be used on normal
ro ads. RACE START mu stonly be activated and used on dedicated
race circuits, not on
public roads.

When you use RACE STAR T,individual wheels
could spin and you could lose cont rol of the

Depending on the ESP ®

is an increased risk of skidding and having an

Make sure that no persons or obstacles
are in the close vicinity of your vehicle. Ac
tivating RACE START

R the engine is running and the transmission
and engine are at normal operating temp era‐

Inthis phase you can adjust RACE START
depending on thero ad conditions: you can
va ry the engine speed bypulling on one of
th esteering wheel gearshift paddles. The
segments in the multifunction display flic ker
ra pidly.

Take your foot off the brake, but keep the
accelerator pedal depressed.
The vehicle pulls away at maximum accelera‐
tion. The RACE START active message
appears in the multifunction displa y.
RACE START is deacti vated when theve hicle rea‐
ch es a speed of appr oximately 50 km/h.
RACE START is deacti vated immediately if you
re lease the accelerator pedal during RACE
ST ART or if any of the activation conditions are
no longer fulfilled. The RACE START cancelled
message appears in the multifunction displa y.%
After using it se veral times in short succes‐
sion, RACE START is una vailable until a cer‐

and using adjus table trac‐
tion control requires a highly qualified and
ex perienced driver.
Ad jus table traction control may not be used
on normal roads. Adjus table traction control
may only be activated and used on dedica‐
te dra ce circuits, not on public roads.

control elements on thesteering wheel.
Using the display buttons 2,you can decide

justing the stationary rear wing
Re quirements:
A soc ket wrench and a releasable, medium-
st re ngth bolt lo ckare available.
The rear wing impr oves there ar axle output and,
th erefore, theve hicle's driving stabilit y.Yo u can
mo vethere ar wing into an inclined and a flat
position.
When you mo vethere ar wing into the inclined
position, there ar axle output and the air resist‐
ance increase. #
Unscr ew the bolts 1with a soc ket wrench. #
Tilt th ere ar wing as far as it will go, upwards
in an inclined position, or down wards in a flat
position. #
Equip the bolts 1with a releasable,
medium- stre ngth bolt lo ckand tighten them.

tive aerodynamics profile Fu
nction of the active aerodynamics profile
The active aerodynamics profile is located on the
underbody of the front section and automatically
re tracts and extends du ring a jou rney .To ge ther
with thest ationary rear wing, the active aerody‐ namics profile optimises
theve hicle's aerody‐
namics depending on theve hicle speed.
If yo u drive at a speed greater than 120 km/h,
th e active aerodynamics profile will automati‐
cally extend. In theI (RACE) driving pro‐
gramme, the active aerodynamics profile will
ex tend once a speed of 80 km/h has been
re ached.
If yo u drive at a speed lo werth an 80 km/h, or,
in theI (RACE) driving prog ramme, lo wer
th an 60 km/h, the active aerodynamics profile
will automatically retract.
Yo u can extend and retract the active aerody‐
namics profile manually for cleaning .
