Environmental note
Do not dispose of batteries with the house-
hold rubbish. They contain highly toxi csub-
stances.
Take discharge dbatteries to aqualified spe-
cialist workshop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz
Servic eCentre, or to aspecial collection point
for old batteries.
Checking the battery X
Press the &or% button.
The batter yisworking properly if the bat-
ter yc heck lam plights up briefly. Changing the battery You require
aCR20253Vc ell battery.
X Take the emergency key elemen tout of the
key (Y page 67). X
Press the emergency key element into the
opening in the key in the direction of
arrow ;until cover :of the battery tray
opens .Donot hold the cover closed while
doing so. X
Remove the cover of the battery tray.
X Repeatedly tap the key against your palm
until battery =falls out.
X Insert the new battery with the positive
pole facing upwards. Use alint-free clot hto
do so.
X Insert the fron ttabs of the battery tray's
cover firs tand then pres stoclose it.
X Check the function of all key buttons on the
vehicle. 68

Unlocking and opening doors from
the inside
You can open adoor from inside the vehicle
even if it has been locked. X
Pull door handle ;.
If the door is locked, locking knob :pops
up. The door is unlocked and can be
opened.
i When adoor is opened, the side window
on that side opens slightly .When the door
is closed ,the side window closes again. !
The side windows will not open/close if
the battery is discharged or if the side win-
dows hav eiced up. It wil lthen not be pos-
sible to close the door. Do not attemp tto
force th edoor to close. You coul dother-
wise damage the doo rorthe side window. Centrally locking and unlocking the

Do not leav echildren unsupervised in the

i Thev ehicle is locked automaticall ywhen
the ignition is switched on and the wheels
begi ntot urn. There is arisk of being locked
out when the vehicle is being pushed or
tested on adynamometer. X

X To activate: press and hold button ;for

Take the emergency key element out of the

Insert the emergency key element into the

clockwise to position 1.

i On right -hand-drive vehicles, turn the

X Turn the emergenc ykey elemen tback and

Exhaust fumes could enter the vehicle interior
if the engine is running and the boot lid is
open. This could poiso nyou. Therefore, you
should mak esure that the boot lid is always
closed when the engine is running.
! The boot lid swings upwards when
opened. Therefore, make sure that there is
sufficient clearance above the boot lid.
Do not leave the key in the boot. You could
otherwise lock yourself out.

Locking th
eboot separately
! The boot lid swings upwards when
opened. Therefore, mak esure that there is
sufficient clearanc eabove th eboot lid.
If th eboot can no longer be unlocked with the
key or KEYLESS-GO:
X Take th eemergency key element ou tofthe
ke y( Ypage 67). X
Inser tthe emergenc ykey elemen tinto the
boo tlid lock as far as the stop.
X Turn the emergenc ykey elemen tanti-
clockwise as far as it will go to position
1 and pull the boo tlid handle.
The boot is unlocked.
X Turn the emergenc ykey elemen tback and
remove it. Opening automatically from outside
You can unlock and open the boot lid simul-
taneously with the key.
X To unlock and open: press and hold
the F button on the key until the boot
lid opens. Opening automatically from inside
You can unlock and open the boot lid simul-
taneously with the key.

Make sure that nobody can become trapped
between the side window and the door frame
when aside window is opened. Do not touch
or lean against the side window during the
opening procedure. You could become trap-
ped between the side window and the door
frame as the side window moves down. If
there is arisk of becoming trapped, release
the switch or pull the switch upwards to close

Activate the override feature if children are
travelling in the vehicle. They could otherwise
open side windows while the vehicle is in
motion and thereby injure themselves or oth-

The switches for all side windows are located
on the driver' sdoor. There is also aswitch on
the front-passenger door as well as on the
doors in the rear compartmen tonthe lef tand
right-hand sides for the respective sid ewin-
dow.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
i You can continue to operate the side win-
dows after you switch off the engine. This
func tion remains active for fiv eminutes or
until one of the doors is opened.
X To open: press the corresponding switch.
X To close: pull the corresponding switch.
i When opening or closing the front side
windows you can start automatic opera-
tion. To do so, press or pull the switch to
just beyond the point of resistance in the
relevan tdirection .You can stop automatic
operation by pressin gorpulling again. 74

Opening and closing all side windows

X Open the cover on the lower centr econ-
sole.
The switc hfor all side window sisunder the

To open all side window smanually:
press switch :as far as the point of resist-
ance.
X To open all side windows fully: press
switch :beyon dthe point of resistance.
X To close all side windows: pull
switch :. Convenience opening (Coupé)
You can ven tilate the vehicle before you start
driving. To do this, you can use the key to
simultaneously:
R open the side windows
R open the panoram asliding sunroof and
roller sunblind
R switch on the seat ventilation
i The convenience opening featur ecan
only be operated using the key. The key
must be near the handle of the driver's
door. X
Point the tip of the key at the driver' sdoor
handle.
X Unloc kthe vehicle by pressing the %
button.
X Press and hold the %button until the
side windows and the panorama sunroof
ar eint he desired position.
If the roller sunblind of the panorama sliding
sunroof is closed ,the roller sunblind is
opened first.
X Press and hold the %button again until
the panorama slidin gsunroof is in the

Genera lnotes When you lock the vehicle, you can simulta-
neously:

close the side windows
R close the panoram asliding sunroof
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof,
you can then close the roller sunblind. G

When using the convenience closing feature,
make sure that nobody can become trapped.
Proceed as follows if there is arisk of entrap-
ment:
With the key:
R release the &button.
R press and hold the %button until the
side windows and the panoram asliding
sunroof open again.
With KEYLESS-GO:
R release the sensor surfac eonthe door han-
dle.
R pull the door handl eimmediatel yand hold
it.

X Point the tip of the key at the driver' sdoor
handle.

side windows and the panorama sliding

X Make sure that all the side windows and the
panorama sliding sunroof are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof:
X Press and hold the &button again until
the roller sunblind of the panorama sliding
sunroof closes.
Using KEYLESS-GO X
Touch the senso rsurface on door han-
dle :until the side windows and the pan-
orama sliding sunroof are full yclosed.
i Make sure you only touch sensor sur-
face :.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
panorama sliding sunroof are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof:
X Touch senso rsurface :on the door han-
dle again until the roller sunblind of the
panorama sliding sunroof closes. Problems with the side windows
Problem: aside window cannot be closed
because an object is obstructin gthe side
window.
X Remove the object(s).
X Close the side window.
Problem :aside window cannot be closed,
and you cannot see th ecause. G

Closing the side windows with increased for ce
or withou tthe anti-entrapmen tfeature could
lead to serious or even fatal injury .Make sure
that nobody can becom etrapped when clos-
ing the side windows.
If as ide window is obstructed during closing
and reopen sagain slightly:
X Im me diately aft er the window blocks ,pull
on the corresponding switch again until the
side window has closed.
The side window is closed with increased
force.
If as ide window is obstructed again during
closing and reopens again slightly:
X Immediately after the window blocks, pull
on the corresponding switch again until the
side window has closed.
The side window is closed without the anti-
entrapment feature. Soft top (Cabriolet)
Important safet
ynotes
You can open or close the soft top either
when the vehicle is stationary or when driving
up to aspeed of 40 km/h.
If there is astron ghead wind, it may not be
possible to close the soft top fully. In this
case, reduc espeed or stop in order to close
the soft top fully.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Ben zrecom-
mends that you only open or close the soft
top when the vehicle is stationary. 76

Risk of accident and injury
Onl ydrive with th esoft top fully ope nor
closed.
If the soft top doe snot ope norclose fully, the
soft-top hydraulics are depressurised and the
soft top is lowered:
R after about seven minutes if the ignition is
switched on
R immediately if the ignition is switched off

The Topb eing opened messageappear sin
the multifunction display.
Loc kthe soft top again befor edriving on. Oth-
erwise, th eunlocke dsoft top coul dopen dur-
ing the journey and cause you to lose control
of your vehicle. You or other persons could be
injured as aresult.
! Never sit on the soft-top compartment
cover and do not store any heavy objects
on it. You will otherwise damage the soft
top and soft-top compartmen tcover of the
vehicle.
! The soft top swings upwards when it is
opened or closed. In order to avoid dam-
aging the soft top or other parts of the vehi-
cle when openin gorclosing the soft top,
observe the following:
R there must be sufficient clearance above
the vehicle.
R the boot separator must be closed and
must not be pushed upwards by the load.
R there must not be any object sonthe
soft -top compartmen tcover.
R the boot lid must be closed.
R the fabric must not be dirty, wet or fro-

Risk of injury
Make sure nobody can be trapped or injured
by movin gparts, such as the soft-top linkage
or soft-top compartmen tcover ,when opening
or closing the soft top.
Release the soft -top switc hinthe even tof
danger .The soft -top mechanism stops imme-
diately. G
Risk of accident
If the vehicle speed exceeds 40 km /h,the
soft top stops the openin gorclosing move-
ment and remain sinthat position. This could
impair your rea rview. At high speeds, the soft
top may be damaged.
Reduce your speed to below 40 km/ horstop
the vehicle in accordanc ewith the traffic con-
ditions. Press the soft-top switc hagain in
order to open or clos ethe soft top fully.
i Make sure the soft top is dry befor eclos-
ing it. Otherwise, water could enter the
interior or boot.

(Y page 83).
X Close the boot lid.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the cover on the lower centr econ-
