To open: pull soft-top switch :unti lthe
entire soft top is stowed away in the boot.
The Top in operation message appears
in the multifunction display.
If, whe nopening, you driv eatspeeds above
40 km/h, the opening procedure is stop-
ped and in the multifunction display, you
see the Open/close to pcompletely
message .Reduce your speed again to
below 40 km /hand pull th esoft-top switch
again, to open the soft top fully.
i Thes ide windows close if you keep on
pulling the soft-top switch.
X To close: press and hold soft-top
switch :until the soft top is fully closed.
The Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display.
If, when closing, you drive at speeds above
40 km/h, the closing procedure is stopped
and in the multifunction display ,you see
the Open/close to pcompletely mes-
sage .Reduce your speed again to below
40 km /hand pull th esoft-top switch again,
to close the soft top fully.

Make sur enobody can be trapped or injured
by moving parts such as the soft-top linkage or soft-top compartment cover when opening
or closin

releas ethe % or& button on the key.
The soft -top mechanism stops immediately.
Opening and closing i
The key must be near the handle of the
driver' sdoor.
X Point the tip of the key at the driver's door
handle.
X To open: press and hold the %button
on the key until the soft top is fully opened.
The Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display .The seat ven-
tilation is switched on. The rea rside win-
dows open.
X To close: press and hold the &button
on the key until the soft top is fully closed.
The Topino peration message appe ars
in the multifunction display. The soft top
and the sid ewindows close. Closing the soft top manually
If the soft top cannot be closed automatically,
check the following points:
R Is the boot separator engaged
(Y page 83)?
R Are the head restrain tson the rea rbench
seats extended?
R Is the boot lid closed?
R Is the on-boar dvoltage sufficient?
Start the engin eifnecessary.
If automatic operation still does not work ,the
soft top can be closed manually.
This wor kmust be performed by two persons.
i Closing the soft top manually is acom-
plex, technically demandin gprocess which
require sagreatdeal of force. Only close
the soft top manually in extreme emergen-
cies. In these situations, it is better to get
in touc hwithaqualified specialist work- 78

Remove wristwatches and any jewellery such
as rings or bracelets. You could otherwise get
caught, injured and damage the vehicle.
Always grip the soft top at the indicated grip-
ping point swhen closing the soft top man-
ually. You coul dotherwis ebeinjured.
X Depress the parking brake.
X Ope nthe side windows.
X Lower the head restraint s(automatically
(Y page 95) or manually (Y page95)).
X Remove the key from the ignition lock.
X Open the boot.
X Take the two st raps out of the vehicle tool
kit (Y page 27 4).
X Take the hex-socket wren chout of the
Owner 'sManual wallet and keep it with
you. X
To ope nthe cover on the left hand side
in the boot: turn rotary catch :anti-
clockwis eand fold dow ncover ;. X
Inser thex-socket wren ch= intov alve
screw ?on the hydraulic pump.
X Turn valve screw ?of the hydraulic pump
with hex-socket wrench =anti-clockwise
af ull turn. Left trim in the boot (example)

The soft- topc ompartmen thinges are on the
right-han dand left-hand sid einthe gap
between the lid of the soft-top compar tment
and the boot sealing. X
Shif tboth levers Dof soft-top compar t-
ment hinges Cforward sbeyond the
deten tposition on both sides. X
On both sides, pull the straps through
behind the soft -top compar tmenthinges in
the direction of the arrow.
X Rout ethe straps through the create dloops. X
Pull the straps between the soft -top com-
partmen thinges and the soft-top compart-
ment.
i Do not pull the straps as long as the boot
is open. X
Place straps Eon the cover of the soft-top
compartment.
X Take the hex-soc ketw rench and th evehi-
cle key out of the boot if necessary.
X Close the boot lid.
i You can only access the boot again once
you have fully closed the soft top manually.
! The boot lid must be closed for the next
steps. The soft top compartmen tcover
coul dotherwise collid ewith the boot lid. G

X Grip the soft-top compartmen twith one
hand as illustrated.
X Use the other hand to support yourself on
the edge of the boot lid as illustrated.
X Move soft-top compartmen tcover Finto
an upright position as far as it will go. Pull
the cover to the rear, applying constant
force. G
Risk of injury
Do not reach betwe en thecover halves and
the hinges. You coul dotherwise become trap-
ped.
X Reach under the tip of soft top Gin the
soft-top compartment fro mthe right-hand

Lif tthe soft top out of the soft-top com-
par tment and guide it forwards in th edirec-
tion of the arrow onto windscreen

overhead control panel.
X Insert the hex-socket wrench int othe roof
lock.
X Tur nthe hex- socket wrench cl ockwiseI
as far as possible.
! Make sure the hex-socke twrenc his
turned anti-clockwise as far as possible
during the following step .The soft top may
otherwise not be fully locked.
X Tur nthe hex- socket wrench anti-clockwi se
J as fa rasp ossible.
The soft top is now pre-locked on the wind-
screen frame. X
Move material tensionin gframe Kto an
upright position.
! Make sure th esoft-top compar tment
cover doe snot collide with the material
tensionin gframe during th efollowin gstep.
X Lower soft-top compartment cover L. X
With your hand flat, press down the mate-
rial tensioning frame until it rests on soft-
top support Mof the soft-top compart-
ment cover. G
Risk of injury
You could trap your hands.
Do not push the soft-top compartment cover
forwards in fron tofthe soft -top suppor twith
your hands.
X With your hand flat, press the soft-top com-
partmen tcover forwards/downwards on
both sides simultaneously until it engages
in the guide. Apply your hands to the points
indicated with arrows.
At the same time, press the material ten-
sionin gframe gentl ydownwards with your

X Insert the hex-socket wrench int othe roof
lock.
X Tur nthe hex- socket wrench anti-clockwi se

X Hav ethe soft -top mechanism repaired
immediately at aqualified specialist work-
shop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
i Press the soft-top compartmen tcover
again if the boot lid can notb eo pened.
! Do not under any circumstances open the
boot lid with the emergenc ykey. You could
otherwise damage the boot lid and the soft-
top compartmen tcover. Re-locking th
esoft top
The soft top is not locked if:
R the Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display.
R you hear awarning ton efor up to ten sec-
onds when pullin gaway or while driving.
You can lock the soft top again if it is not
locked fully.
X Stop the vehicle immediately, paying atten-
tion to road and traf ficc onditions.
X Tur nthe key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Press the soft -top switch. Boot sepa
rator
General notes The boot separator can be used to cover lug-
gage and loads in the boot.
The soft top can only be opened when the
boot separator is closed.
!
To avoid damaging the soft top or load
when folding back the soft top, observe the
following:
R when the boot separator is open, do not
place any object sinorbehind the net on
the side that are so long they could
obstruct the boot separator or damage
the opened soft top.
R mak esure that the load does not push
the boot separator upwards.

To close: pull boot separator :by the
handle in the direction of the arrow until it
rest sont he sides of the boot.
The boot separator finishes closing auto-
matically.
X To open: push boot separator :against
the direction of the arrow by the handle.
The boot separator finishes opening auto-

Th ed raught stop protects against wind when
driving with th esoft top open. It is secured Soft top (Cabriolet)

Risk of accident
Yo uc oul dcause an accident if your rea rview
is limited by darkness or other conditions.
Therefore, fold back the upper section of the
draught stop if it restricts your vision or when
it is dark.
! Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use draught stops which have been
tested and approved for Mercedes-Benz
vehicles. This helps to prevent damage to
the vehicle.
! Observe the backrest position of the front
seats if the draught stop is installed, since
the backrest could collide with the draught
stop here. X
When installing the draught stop, use lat-
eral brackets :.
Observe the manufacturer' sinstallation
instructi ons. AIRCAP
General notes With AIRCAP, four people can travel comfort-
ably with the soft top down. AIRCAP reduces
the draugh tfor the driver and passenger sin
both the fron tand the rear compartment in a
vehicl ewith the soft top down. You can open
or close AIRCAP either when the vehicle is stationary or when drivin
guptoa speed of
16 0k m/h.

When extending and retractin gAIRCAP, make
sure that no on ecan become trapped. If there
is ar isk of entrapment ,pres sthe button again
to ret ract AIRCAP again.

in the lower centre console. :

men tthen fasten their seat belts, the head
rest raints in the rear bench seats and AIRCAP
draught stop =move to the upper position.
i If,w hen AIRCA Pisextended, you park
your vehicl ewith the soft top down and
remov ethe key ,the win ddeflec tora nd the
hea drestraint sinthe rea rcompartment
ret ract automatically. When you return to
your vehicle and start the engine again, the
wind deflector and the head rest raints in
the rear compar tment are extended again.
i AIRCAP can notb ee xtende dorretracted
if the vehicle speed exceeds 16 0km/h. Ret
racting AIRCAP X
Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the cover on the lower centre con-
sole.
X Press AIRCAP button :.
The two indicato rlamps on the AIRCAP but-
ton go out. Wind deflector ;retra cts. The
head rest raints on the rear bench seats and
AIRCAP draught stop =move to the low-
est position simultaneously.
i If there are passengers wearing seat belts
in the rear compartment, the head
restraints on the rear bench seats and the
AIRCAP draught stop remain in the upper
position.
Retracting the head restraints on the
rear bench seats from the driver's seat To improv
ethe rea rview, you can retrac tthe
head restraint sonthe rea rbench seats indi-
vidually (Y page 95). The wind deflector
remains in its curren tposition. Fitting/removing th
eAIRCAP draught
stop
Preparation You will need
a4mmhex-socket wrench to
fit/remov ethe AIRCA Pdraugh tstop.
Before fitting or removing the AIRCAP draught
stop:
X Turn the key to pos ition 2in the ignition
lock.
X Open the folding roof fully (Y page77).
X Extend the head restraints in the rear com-
part ment fully (Y page95). Soft top (Cabriolet)

ng Bolts on the AIRCAP draught sto

hea drestra ints in the rea rcompartment
X Use the 4mmhex-socket wrench to turn
the bolts on both sides anti-clockwise by
about 90° and loosen them.
X Pul lthe bolts out of the brackets on the
head restra ints. X
Pul lthe AIRCAP draught stop out of the
guide rails in the direction of the arrow.
Make sure that you pull the AIRCAP draught
stop forwards slightly when doing so. Fitting X
Keeping the AIRCAP draught stop horizon-
tal, guide it into the slot between the head
restrain tsin the direction of the arrow with
both rack sstraight down.
X Push the AIRCAP draugh tstop down until
the bolts are at the same height as the
brackets on the head restraints.
X Insert the bolts into the brackets on both
sides.
X Tighten the bolts with the 4mmhex-socket
wren chuntil they engage.
The markings on the bolts are vertical. 86

matically.
X Lower the head restraint sinthe rea rcompartmen tmanually
(Y page 95). The soft-top mechanism or control system is defective.

Close the soft top manually if necessary (Y page 78).
X Visit aqualified specialist workshop. The soft top was opened and closed several times in succession.
The soft-top drive has been deactivated automatically for safety
reasons.
You can open or close the soft top again after approximately ten
minutes.
X
Switch the ignition off and then on again.
X Repea tthe opening or closing procedure. Sliding sunroof (Coupé)
Important safety notes

Risk of injury
Make sur ethat nobody can becom etrapped
when closing th esliding sunroof. If there is a
risk of entrapment, release the switch and
push it briefly in any direction to stop the slid-
ing sunroof. G
Risk of injury
Children could injur ethemselves if they oper-
ate the slidin gsunroof.
Never leave children unsupervised in the vehi-
cle. Always take the key with you when leaving
the vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for
as hort time. G
Risk of injury
The glass in the panoram asunroof could
break in an accident. If you are not wearing a
seat belt, there is arisk that you could be Sliding sunroof (Coupé)
