Menu overview
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to call up the menu bar and select
a menu.

The Audio ,
Navi and
Tel menus differ slightly
in vehicles with an audio system and in vehi-
cles with COMAND Online. The examples
given in this Owner's Manual apply to vehicles
equipped with COMAND Online. Trip menu

The values in the From start submenu are
calculated from the start of a journey, whilst
the values in the From reset submenu are
calculated from the last time the submenu
was reset (Y page 251).
The From start trip computer is automati-
cally reset if:
R the ignition has been switched off for more
than four hours.
R 999 hours have been exceeded.
R 9,999 kilometres have been exceeded.
The From reset trip computer is automati-
cally reset if the value exceeds 9,999 hours
or 99,999 kilometres.
ECO display Example: ECO display
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
ECO DISPLAY .
When the ignition is switched off for more
than four hours, the ECO display is automat-
ically reset.
For further information on the ECO display,
see (Y page 185). Displaying the range and current fuel
consumption X
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
current fuel consumption (not for AMG
vehicles) and the approximate range.
The approximate range which can be covered
depends on the fuel level and your current
driving style. If there is only a small amount
of fuel left in the fuel tank, the display shows
a vehicle being refuelled Cinstead of the
range.

Resetting values
Example: resetting the trip computer "From start"
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
function that you wish to reset.
X Press the abutton.
X Press the :button to select Yes and
press the abutton to confirm.
You can reset the values of the following func-
tions:
R trip meter
R trip computer "From start"
R trip computer "From reset"
R ECO display
i If you reset the value sinthe ECO display,
the values in the "From start" trip computer
will also be reset. If you reset the values in
the "From start" trip computer, the values
in the ECO display will also be reset. Navigation menu
Displaying navigation instructions In the
Navi menu, the multifunction display
shows navigation instructions. For more
information on the navigation system, see the
separate operating instructions.
X Switch on the audio system with Becker ®
MAP PILOT or COMAND Online; see the
separate operating instructions.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Navi menu.Route guidance not active :

On multilane roads, the system can display
lane recommendation =for the next change
of direction. During the change of direction,
additional lanes may be displayed.
Lane recommendations are only displayed if

Audio player or audio media operation
Example: CD/DV
Dchanger display
: Current track
Audio data from various audiod evices or
media can be played, depending on the equip-
ment fitted in the vehicle.
X Switch on the audio system or COMAND
Online and activate audio CD/DVD mode
or MP3 mode; see the separate operating
instructions.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu.
X To select the next/previous track:
briefly press the 9or: button.
X To select a track from the track list
(rapid scrolling): press and hold the
9 or: button until desired
track :has been reached.
If you press and hold the 9or: but-
ton, the rapid scrolling speed is increased.
Not all audio devices or media support this
function.
If track information is stored on the audio
device or medium, the multifunction display
will show the number and title of the track.
The curren ttrack does not appear in audio
AUX mode (Auxiliary audio mode: external
audio source connected). TV operation :
Channel frequency with memory position
i The memory position is only displayed
along with station :if this has been
stored.
X Switch on COMAND Online and select TV;
see the separate operating instructions.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu.

WARNING
Observe the legal requirements of the country
in which you are currently driving regarding
the use of mobile phones in the vehicle.
If it is permitted to use mobile phones while
the vehicle is in motion, you should only use
them when the road and traffic conditions
allow. Otherwise, you may be distracted from
the traffic conditions, cause an accident and
injure yoursel fand others.
X Switch on the mobile phone (see the sep-
arate operating instructions).
X Switch on the audio system or COMAND
Online; see the separate operating instruc-
tions.
X Insert the mobile phone into the bracket
(Y page 334).

X Establish a Bluetooth ®
connection to the
audio system or COMAND Online; see the
separate operating instructions.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Tel menu.
You will see one of the following display mes-
sages in the multifunctio ndisplay:
R Please enter PIN :t
he mobile phone has
been placed in the mobile phone bracket
and the PIN has not been entered.
When you enter your PIN via the mobile
phone, LINGUATRONIC, the audio system or COMAND Online, the mobile phone
searches for a network.
R Telephone ready or the name of the net-
work provider: the mobile phone has found
a network and is ready to receive.
R Telephone No service : there is no net-
work available or the mobile phone is
searching for a network.

Accepting acall Example: incoming call

If someone calls you when you are in the
Tel menu, a display message appears in the
multifunctio ndisplay.
You can accept a call even if you are not in
the Tel menu.
Rejecting or ending acall X

wheel.
You can end or reject a call even if you are not
in the Tel menu.
Dialling anumber from the phone book X
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Tel menu.

Limit Assist.

X To activate or deactivate: pressa.
If the Speed Limit Assist message function
is activated, a detected speed limit is auto-
matically displayed for five seconds. Other
items in the multifunction display are not
shown during this time.
If Speed Limit Assist is operational and the
message function is activated, the multifunc-
tion display shows the Äsymbol when the
ignition is switched on.
Showing the distance display X
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Assist. menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select
Distance display .
X Press the abutton.
The DISTRONIC PLUS distance display
appears in the multifunction display
(Y page 202).
If the Sensors deactivated message
appears, the radar sensor system is deacti-
vated.
X Check whether or not the radar sensor sys-
tem is permitted to be activated
(Y page 451).
X Switch on the radar sensor system
(Y page 262).
Deactivating/activating ESP ®G
WARNING
If you deactivate ESP ®
, ESP ®
no longer sta-
bilises the vehicle. There is an increased risk
of skidding and an accident.
Only deactivate ESP ®
in the situations descri-
bed in the following. Activating/deactivating ESP
®
on AMG vehi-
cles (Y page 74).

X Start the engine.

is deactivated if the åwarning lamp
in the instrument cluster lights up continu-
ously when the engine is running.
If the ä warning lamp and the åwarn-
ing lamp are lit continuously, ESP ®
is not
available due to a malfunction.
It may be best to deactivate ESP ®
in the fol-
lowing situations:
R when using snow chains
R in deep snow
R on sand or gravel
Observe the information on warning lamps
(Y page 302).
Observe the information on display messages
(Y page 269).
Activating/deactivating the PRE-SAFE ®
Brake PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is only available in vehicles
with DISTRONIC PLUS.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Assist. menu.

PRE-SAFE Brake .

When PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is activated, the mul-
tifunction display shows the Äsymbol as
long as the HOLD function is not activated
(Y page 205).
Vehicles with Parking Guidance: if PARK-
TRONIC is activated and you are driving at a
speed under 35 km/h, the jParking Guid-
ance symbol is shown instead of the Ä
symbol ( Ypage 215).
If the PRE-SAFE Brake: Sensors deacti‐ vated message appears, the radar sensor
system is deactivated.
X Check whether or not the radar sensor sys-
tem may be activated (Y page 451).
X Activate the radar sensor system
(Y page 262).
