operating your vehicle in an environmentally-
re sponsible manner. Please obser vethefo l‐
lowing recommendations on ope rating condi‐
tions and pe rsonal driving style.
Operating conditions:

(e.g. roof luggage rack s once you no

Pe rsonal driving style:
#Do not depress the accelera tor pedal
when starting the engine.
#Do not warm upthe engine while the

#Av oid frequent, sudden acceleration
and braking.
#Change gear in good time and use each
ge ar only uptoÔ of its maximum
engine speed.

fo rex ample, the brake sy stem. Only use
Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts or parts of equal
qu ality. Only use tires, wheels and accessory
parts that ha vebeen specifically appr ovedfo r
yo ur vehicle model.
Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts are subject to
st rict quality control. Each part has been spe‐
cially de veloped, manufactured or selecte dfo r
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and fine-tuned forth em.
Therefore, only Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts
should be used.

This Operator's Manual describes all models and
all standard and optional equipment available for
yo ur vehicle at the time of this Opera tor's Man‐
ual going topress. Countr y-specific dif fere nces
are possible. No tethat your vehicle may not be
equipped with all features descri bed. This is also
th e case for sy stems and functions releva nt to
saf ety. Therefore, the equipment on your vehicle
may dif fer from that in the descriptions and illus‐
trations.
The original pur chase contract documentation
fo ryo ur vehicle contains a list of all of the sys‐
te ms in your vehicle.

equipment and operation, please consult an

Ve hicle operation outside the USA or Canada
When you are abroad withyo ur vehicle, obser ve
th efo llowing points:
RService points or replacement parts may not
be available immediatel y.
RUnleaded fuel may not be available forve hi‐
cles with a catalytic con verter. Leaded fuel
may cause damage tothe catalytic con verter.
RThe fuel may ha vean extreme lylow octane
number. Unsuitable fuel can cause engine
damage.

de fects or malfunctions in theve hicle that are
co veredby its express warrant y.
During a pe riod of 18months from original deliv‐
ery of theve hicle or a kilome ter/mileage read‐
ing of 18,000 miles (29,000 km), whiche ver
occurs firs t, ve hicle repair is presumed for a
re tail buyer or lessee if one or more of thefo l‐
lowing occurs:
(1) the serious defect or damage can result in
deadly or serious injury totheve hicle occu‐
pants while driving AND this defect has
already been repaired at least twice AND
Mercedes‑Benz, LLC has been informed in
writing of the necessity of a repair.
(2) the defect or damage, though less serious
th an (1) abo ve, has already been repaired at least
four times AND Mercedes‑Benz has
been informed in writing of the necessity of

The QR code is secured in the fuel filler flap and
on the opposite side on the B-pillar. In theeve nt
of an accident, rescue services can use the QR
code toquickly find the appropriate rescue card
fo ryo ur vehicle. The cur rent rescue card con‐
ta ins the most impor tant information about your
ve hicle in a compact form , e.g. thero uting of the
electric lines.

Ve hicle data storage
Data acquisition
A wide range of electronic components in your
ve hicle contain data memories.
These data memories temp orarily or perma‐
nently store tech nical information about:
RThe vehicle's operating state
REvents
RMalfunctions
In general, thete ch nical information documents
th est ate of a component part, a module, a sys‐
te m or the sur roundings.
These include, forex ample:
ROperating conditions of sy stem components.
Fo rex ample, fluid leve ls.
RThe vehicle's status messages and those of
its individual components. Forex ample, the
number of wheel revo lutions/speed, deceler‐
ation, lateral acceleration, accelerator pedal
position.

RMalfunctions and defects in important sys‐
te m components. Forex ample, lights,
brakes.
RVe hicle reactions and operating conditions in
special driving situations. Forex ample, air
bag deployment, inter vention of stability con‐
trol sy stems.
RAmbient conditions. Forex ample, outside
te mp erature.
This data is of an exclusively tech nical natu re
and can be used to:
RAssist in detecting and rectifying malfunc‐
tions and defects.
RAnalyze vehicle functions, e.g. af ter an acci‐
dent.
ROptimize vehicle functions.
The data cannot be used totrace theve hicle's
mo vements.
When your vehicle is serviced, tech nical informa‐
tion can be read from theeve nt da tamemory
and malfunction data memor y.Services include,

The vehicle is read out byemplo yees of the
service network (including the manufacturer)
using special diagnostic devices. You can obtain
more information there, if requ ired.
Af ter a malfunction has been rectified, the infor‐
mation is dele ted from the malfunction memory
or is continually overwritten.
When operating theve hicle, situations are con‐
ceivable in which this tech nical da ta, in connec‐
tion with other information (if necessar y,afte r
consultation wi than authorized expert), could be
traced toa person.

ge ncy.
COMAND/mbrace
If th eve hicle is equipped with COMAND or
mbrace, additional data about theve hicle's oper‐
ation, the use of theve hicle in cer tain situations,
and the location of theve hicle may be compiled
th ro ugh COMAND or the mbrace sy stem.

and Conditions.
Event data recorders
This vehicle is equipped with an event da ta
re corder (EDR). The main purp ose of an EDR is
to record, in cer tain crash or near crash-like sit‐
uations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting
a ro ad obs tacle, data which will assist in under‐
st anding how a vehicle's sy stems per form ed.
The EDR is designed torecord data related to
ve hicle dynamics and saf etysy stems for a short
period of time, typically 30 seconds or less.
