Requirements
For telephony via the Bluetooth®interface, you
require at least one Bluetooth®-capable mobilephone depending on use ofone-telephonemodeortwo-telephone mode. The mobilephone must support Hands-Free Profile 1.0 orabove.
Intwo-telephone modeyou can use all thefunctions of the multimedia system with themain telephone. With theadditional tele-phone, you can receive incoming calls.

Searching for and authorizing (con-
necting) a mobile phone
Before using your mobile phone with the multi-media system for the first time, you will needto search for the phone and then authorize(connect) it. Depending on the mobile phone,authorization either takes place by means ofSecure Simple Pairing or by entering a pass-key. The multimedia system automaticallymakes the procedure that is relevant for yourmobile phone available. The mobile phone isalways connected automatically after authori-zation. Further information on using a mobilephone with the multimedia system (see theDigital Operator's Manual).
If the multimedia system does not detect yourmobile phone, this may be due to particularsecurity settings on your mobile phone (seethe manufacturer's operating instructions).

If the backrest of the front-passenger seat is
folded forward, rear seat passengers can
come in contact with parts of the seat
mechanism. particularly in the event of an
accident, heavy braking or a sudden change
of direction. There is a risk of injury.
If a passenger travels in the vehicle while
the front-passenger seat is folded forward,
they must sit in the rear seat behind the
driver.
The backrest of the front-passenger seat canbe folded forwards to increase the cargo com-partment capacity.
Once you no longer need the backrest on thefront-passenger side to be used as a load sur-face, fold the backrest back into place.

Call priority
When service calls are active, e.g. RoadsideAssistance or MB Info calls, an emergency callcan still be initiated. In this case, an emer-gency call will take priority and override allother active calls.
The indicator lamp of the respective buttonflashes until the call is ended.
An emergency call can only be terminated bythe Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Cen-ter.
All other calls can be ended by pressing:

Downloading destinations in COMAND
Downloading destinations
Downloading destinations gives you access toa database with over 15 million points of inter-est (POIs). These can be downloaded on thenavigation system in your vehicle. If you knowthe destination, the address can be downloa-ded. Alternatively, you can obtain the locationof Points of Interest (POIs)/important destina-tions in the vicinity.
Furthermore, you can download routes with upto 20 way points.
You are prompted to confirm route guidanceto the address entered.
The system calculates the route and subse-quently starts the route guidance with theaddress entered.
iIf you selectNoNo, the address can be savedin the address book.
iThe Destination Download function isavailable if the relevant mobile phone net-work is available and data transfer is possi-ble.
iThe Destination Download function canonly be used if the vehicle is equipped witha navigation system.
Route Assistance
This service is part of the Mercedes me con-nect PLUS Package and cannot be obtainedseparately.

Resetting the ASSYST PLUS service
interval display
!If the ASSYST PLUS service interval dis-play has been inadvertently reset, this set-ting can be corrected at a qualified special-ist workshop.
Have service work carried out as describedin the Maintenance Booklet. This may other-wise lead to increased wear and damage tothe major assemblies or the vehicle.
A qualified specialist workshop, e.g. an author-ized Mercedes-Benz Center, will reset theASSYST PLUS service interval display after theservice work has been carried out. You canalso obtain further information on mainte-nance work, for example.
Special service requirements
The specified maintenance interval takes onlythe normal operation of the vehicle intoaccount. Under arduous operating conditionsor increased load on the vehicle, maintenancework must be carried out more frequently, forexample:
Rregular city driving with frequent intermedi-ate stops
Rif the vehicle is primarily used to travel shortdistances
Ruse in mountainous terrain or on poor roadsurfaces
Rif the engine is often left idling for long peri-ods
Rin particularly dusty conditions, or if air-recirculation mode is frequently used
In these or similar operating conditions, havethe interior filter, engine air cleaner, engine oil
and oil filter, for example, changed more fre-quently. Under arduous operating conditions,the tires must be checked more often. Furtherinformation can be obtained at a qualified spe-cialist workshop, e.g. an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

Do not scrub.
Do not touch the surfaces and films withhard objects, e.g. rings or ice scrapers. Oth-erwise, you may scratch or damage the sur-faces and films.
!Do not park your vehicle for a long periodof time directly after cleaning, particularlyafter cleaning the wheel rim with wheelcleaner. Wheel cleaner can lead to theincreased corrosion of the brake discs andpads. Therefore, drive for a few minutesafter cleaning. By heating up the brakes, thebrake discs and pads dry. The vehicle canthen be parked for a long period of time.
Regular care of your vehicle is a condition forretaining the quality in the long term.
Use care products and cleaning agents recom-mended and approved by Mercedes-Benz.

!Do not allow cosmetics, insect repellent orsunscreen to come into contact with theplastic trim. This maintains the high-qualitylook of the surfaces.

XHeavy soiling:use care and cleaning prod-ucts recommended and approved byMercedes-Benz.The surface may change color temporarily.Wait until the surface is dry again.

Cleaning genuine wood and trim ele-
ments
!Do not use solvent-based cleaning agentssuch as tar remover, wheel cleaners, pol-ishes or waxes. There is otherwise a risk ofdamaging the surface.
!Do not use chrome polish on trim pieces.The trim pieces have a chrome look but aremostly made of anodized aluminum and canlose their shine if chrome polish is used.Use a damp, lint-free cloth instead whencleaning the trim pieces.
If the chrome-plated trim pieces are verydirty, you can use a chrome polish. If youare unsure as to whether the trim pieces arechrome-plated or not, consult an authorizedMercedes-Benz Center.
XWipe the wooden trim and trim pieces witha damp, lint-free cloth, e.g. a microfibercloth.
XHeavy soiling:use care and cleaning prod-ucts recommended and approved byMercedes-Benz.
Cleaning the seat covers
General notes
!Do not use a microfiber cloth to clean cov-ers made out of real leather, artificial leatheror DINAMICA. If used often, these can dam-age the cover.
Note that regular care is essential to ensurethat the appearance and comfort of the coversis retained over time.
Genuine leather seat covers
!To retain the natural appearance of theleather, observe the following cleaninginstructions:
RClean genuine leather covers carefullywith a damp cloth and then wipe the cov-ers down with a dry cloth.
RMake sure that the leather does notbecome soaked. It may otherwise becomerough and cracked.
ROnly use leather care agents that havebeen tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz. You can obtain these from a quali-fied specialist workshop.
Leather is a natural product.

Informa-tion on the message display can be found inthe "Restarting the tire pressure loss warning"section (Ypage 311).
Important safety notes
The tire pressure warning system does notwarn you of an incorrectly set tire pressure.Observe the notes on the recommended tirepressure (Ypage 307).
The tire pressure loss warning does notreplace the need to regularly check the tirepressure. An even loss of pressure on severaltires at the same time cannot be detected bythe tire pressure loss warning system.
The tire pressure monitor is not able to warnyou of a sudden loss of pressure, e.g. if thetire is penetrated by a foreign object. In theevent of a sudden loss of pressure, bring thevehicle to a halt by braking carefully. Avoidabrupt steering movements.
The function of the tire pressure loss warningsystem is limited or delayed if:
Rsnow chains are mounted on your vehicle'stires.
Rroad conditions are wintry.
Ryou are driving on sand or gravel.
Ryou adopt a very sporty driving style (corner-ing at high speeds or driving with high ratesof acceleration).
Ryou are driving with a heavy load (in thevehicle or on the roof)
Restarting the tire pressure loss warn-
ing system
Restart the tire pressure loss warning systemif you have:
Rchanged the tire pressure
Rchanged the wheels or tires
Rmounted new wheels or tires
XBefore restarting, make sure that the tirepressures are set properly on all four tiresfor the respective operating conditions.
The recommended tire pressure can befound on the Tire and Loading Informationplacard on the B-pillar. Additionally, a tirepressure table is attached to the fuel fillerflap. The tire pressure loss warning systemcan only give reliable warnings if you haveset the correct tire pressure. If an incorrecttire pressure is set, these incorrect valueswill be monitored.
XAlso observe the notes in the section on tirepressures (Ypage 307).
XMake sure that the SmartKey is in positionHin the ignition lock (Ypage 125).

Observe the instructions and safety notes inthe display messages in the "Tires" section(Ypage 223).
If the wheel positions on the vehicle are rota-ted, the tire pressures may be displayed forthe wrong positions for a short time. This isrectified after a few minutes of driving, and thetire pressures are displayed for the correctpositions.
Restarting the tire pressure monitor
When you restart the tire pressure monitor, allexisting warning messages are deleted and thewarning lamps go out. The monitor uses thecurrently set tire pressures as the referencevalues for monitoring. In most cases, the tirepressure monitor will automatically detect thenew reference values after you have changedthe tire pressure. However, you can also setreference values manually as described here.The tire pressure monitor then monitors thenew tire pressure values.
XSet the tire pressure to the value recom-mended for the corresponding driving situa-tion on the Tire and Loading Informationplacard on the driver's sideB-pillar (Ypage 307).
You can find more tire pressure values forvarious operating conditions in the tire pres-sure table inside the fuel filler flap(Ypage 144).
XMake sure that the tire pressure is correcton all four wheels.

Wheels and tires

The wear patterns on the front and rear tiresdiffer, depending on the operating conditions.Rotate the wheels before a clear wear patternhas formed on the tires. Front tires typicallywear more on the shoulders and the rear tiresin the center.
On vehicles that have the same size front andrear wheels, you can rotate the wheels accord-ing to the intervals in the tire manufacturer'swarranty book in your vehicle documents. If nowarranty book is available, the tires should berotated every 3,000 to 6,000 miles (5,000 to10,000 km). Depending on tire wear, this maybe required earlier. Do not change the direc-tion of wheel rotation.
Clean the contact surfaces of the wheel andthe brake disc thoroughly every time a wheelis rotated. Check the tire pressure and, if nec-essary, restart the tire pressure loss warningsystem (Canada only) or the tire pressuremonitor (USA only).
Direction of rotation
Tires with a specified direction of rotation haveadditional benefits, e.g. if there is a risk ofhydroplaning. These advantages can only begained if the tires are installed correspondingto the direction of rotation.
An arrow on the sidewall of the tire indicatesits correct direction of rotation.
Storing wheels
Store wheels that are not being used in a cool,dry and preferably dark place. Protect the tiresfrom oil, grease, gasoline and diesel.
