Before changing a tire, first stop your vehiclein a safe, flat location. 1. Park the vehicle on level and stable ground. 2. Set the parking brake firmly. 3. Move the selector lever to the “P”(PARK) position and turn the ignitionswitch (the engine switch) to the “OFF” position. 4. Turn on the hazard warning flashers andset up a warning sign, such as a warning triangle or flashing signal lights, at an adequate distance from the vehicle, andhave all your passengers leave the vehicle. 5. To prevent the vehicle from rolling when it is raised on the jack, place chocks orblocks (A) at the tire that is diagonally opposite from the tire (B) you are chang- ing.
6. Get the jack, bar and wheel nut wrench ready. (Refer to “Jack and tools” on page 8-5.)

How to change a tire
WA R N I N G Be sure to apply chocks or blocks to the correct tire when jacking up the vehicle. If the vehicle moves while jacked up, thejack could slip out of position, leading to an accident.NOTE
 The chocks shown in the illustration do not come with your vehicle. It is recommended that you purchase chocks or blocks and keep them in the vehicle for use if needed.  If chocks or blocks are not available, use stones or any other objects that are largeenough to hold the wheel in position.

Before replacing a bulb, be sure the light is off. Do not touch the glass part of the newbulb with your bare fingers; the oil from your skin will stay on the glass and dim or destroy the bulb when it gets hot.

Replacement of light bulbs
CAUTION Bulbs are extremely hot immediately after being turned off.When replacing a bulb, wait for it to cool sufficiently before touching it. You could otherwise be burned. Handle halogen light bulbs with care. The gas inside a halogen light bulb is highly pres-surized, so dropping, knocking, or scratching a halogen light bulb can cause it to shatter.
 Never hold a halogen light bulb with a bare hand, dirty glove, etc. The oil from your hand could cause the bulb to break the next time the headlights are used.If the glass surface is dirty, clean it with alcohol and let it dry completely before installing the bulb. Do not install commercially available LED type bulbs.Commercially available LED type bulbs could adversely affect the operation of the vehicle, such as by preventing the lights andother vehicle equipment from operating properly.NOTE
 If you are unsure of how to carry out the work as required, it is recommended that these procedures be carried out by an autho- rized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repairfacility of your choice.CAUTION
 Be careful not to scratch the vehicle body when removing a light and lens.  When it rains, or when the vehicle has been washed, the inside of the lens sometimesbecomes temporarily foggy. This is the same phenomenon as when window glass mists up on a humid day, and does not indicate a func-tional problem. When the light is switched on, the heat will remove the fog. However, if water gathersinside the light, please have it checked by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.
Bulb location and capacity
CAUTION When replacing a bulb, be sure to use a new bulb of the same type, wattage, and color.If you install a different bulb, the bulb could malfunction or fail to come on and could lead to a vehicle fire.NOTE

Wax your vehicle once or twice a year, or when water does not bead up on the paint. Use a soft cloth to put a small amount of wax on the painted surfaces. After the wax hasdried, polish with a dry soft cloth. Do not wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. You should wax when the painted surfacesare cool.

If painted surfaces have been severely dam- aged and lost their original luster and color tone, polish the surface lightly with a finepolishing compound. Avoid limiting your polishing to the damaged surface only; polish a somewhat wider area, moving the polishingcloth in one direction. After polishing, flush the compound from the surface and apply a coat of wax to regain a beautiful luster.

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coatshould be touched up as soon as possible withtouch-up paint to prevent corrosion. Check body areas facing the road or the tires carefully for damage to the paint caused byflying stones, etc. The paint code number for your vehicle can be found on the vehicle information code plate located on the frontpassenger door sill.

Use a sponge or chamois to clean these parts.If the vehicle wax sticks to a gray or blackrough surface of the bumper, molding or lights, the surface may appear white in color. In this case, wipe it off using lukewarm waterand a soft cloth or chamois.
NOTE
 When the door is frozen, opening it by force may tear off or crack the rubber gasket installed around the door. Pour warm water to melt the ice. Be sure to thoroughly wipe off the water after opening the door. To pre-vent freezing of the weatherstripping on the doors, hood, etc., treat
with silicone lubri-
cant.
Waxing
CAUTION Waxes containing high abrasive compounds should not be used. These waxes remove rust and stain effectively from the paintwork, butare harmful to the finish of the paint, because they also remove paint/clearcoat. They are also harmful to other glossy sur-faces such as the grill
e, trim, moldings, etc.
Do not use gasoline, benzine, kerosene or paint thinners to remove road tar or other dirt from the vehicle surface. Do not put wax on the areas having black matte coating because it can cause uneven discoloration, patches, blurs, etc. If these get wax on them, wipe the wax off right awaywith a soft cloth and warm water. On vehicles equipped with the power pan- oramic sunroof, be careful when waxing the area around the front sunroof opening, not to put any wax on the weatherstrip (black rub-ber) and surrounding plastic parts. If stained with wax, the weatherstrip and surrounding plastic parts cannot maintain a weatherproofseal with the front sunroof.
Polishing
CAUTION
Damaged paint Cleaning plastic parts
CAUTION Do not use a scrubbing brush or other rough scrubber as these may damage the plastic surface. Do not use wax containing compounds (pol- ishing powder) which may damage the plas-tic surface.
