Using the panic alarm

NOTE
The indicator light (5) comes on each time a button is pressed.  The F.A.S.T.-key can be used from about 40 feet (12 m) away. However, this distance may change if your vehicle is near a TVtransmitting tower, a power station, or a radio station.  If the UNLOCK button (2) is pressed when all doors and the liftgate are locked and no doors or the liftgate
are opened within about
30 seconds, the doors a
nd the liftgate will
automatically re-lock. On a vehicle equippe

ons are observed after

e in the vehicle. In
addition to the risk
of heat stroke, chil-
dren can activate switches and controls,resulting in an injury
or fatal accident.
When closing a door,
make sure that the
door is fully closed and the door-ajarwarning display goes
out on the informa-
tion screen on the multi-information dis- play. If the door is aj
ar it could open while
driving and cause an accident.

When parking on a hill, set the parking brake, and turn the front wheels toward the curb on a downhill, or away from
the curb on an uphill.

To adjust the steering wheel to the desired position, move the lever upward or down- ward while moving the steering wheel to the desired position.
To apply 1- Pull the lever up without pushing the
button at the end of hand grip. When the parking brake is set and theignition switch is in the “ON” position, the brake warning light in the instru- ment cluster will come on. Before driving, be sure to release the parking brake.
To deactivate 1- Pull the lever up slightly. 2- Press and hold the button at the end of
the hand grip.
3- Push the lever downward.
CAUTION Before driving, be sure that the parking brake is fully released and brake warninglight is off.If you drive without the parking brake fully released, the warning di
splay will appear on

use on pavement. But its unique 4 -wheel
drive system allows
you to occasionally travel on unpaved roads, to campgrounds, picnic
sites, and similar
locations.Not only does this ensure better handling on dry, paved roads but al
so permits better trac-
tion when driving on slippery, wet or snow- covered roads and when moving out of mud.But it is not suitable for heavy off road use or towing in rough conditions. It is particularly im
portant to note that 4-
wheel drive may not gi
ve sufficient hill
climbing ability and e
ngine braking on steep
slopes. You should try to avoid driving onsteep slopes. Also, you must exercise caution when driving on sand and mud and when driving through water because sufficie
nt traction may not be
available in certain circumstances.Please avoid driving the vehicle through areas where the tires may get stuck in deep sand or mud.

Cruise control is an automatic speed control system that keeps a set speed. It can be acti- vated at speeds from about 25 mph(40 km/h). Cruise cont
rol does not work at
speeds below about 25 mph (40 km/h).
NOTE
 The indicator may come on when you start the engine. This means that the battery voltage momentarily dropped when theengine was started. It
does not indicate a
malfunction, provided th
at the display goes
out immediately.  When a spare tire has been put on your vehi- cle, the gripping ability of the tire will be lower, making it more
likely that the dis-
play/indicator will blink.

CAUTION The system may be malfunctioning. Park your vehicle in a

Cruise control
CAUTION When you do not wish to drive at a set speed, turn off the cruise control for safety. Do not use cruise control when driving con- ditions will not allow
you to stay at the same
speed, such as in heavy traffic or on roadsthat are winding, icy, snow-covered, wet, slippery, on a steep downhill slope.NOTE
 Cruise control may not
be able to keep your
speed on uphills or downhills.  Your speed may decr
ease on a steep uphill.
You may use the accelerator pedal if youwant to stay at your set speed.  Your speed may increase to more than the set speed on a steep downhill. You have to usethe brake to control your speed. As a result, the set speed driving is deactivated.
