If an unlawful opening of any of the doors,tailgate or bonnet is detected during the sys-tem armed mode, the alarm will be activatedto warn people around the vehicle of anabnormal condition.Inside alarm (approx. 10 seconds):
The buzzer sounds, warning those insidethe vehicle of an abnormal condition.(except for vehicles equipped with theinterior alarm sensor)
Outside alarm (approx. 30 seconds):
The turn-signal lamps blink and the horn(the siren for vehicles equipped with theinterior alarm sensor) sounds, warningpeople around the vehicle of an abnormalcondition.

It is possible to cancel the system activationduring the system preparation mode or thesystem armed mode.In addition, it is possible to cancel the alarmonce it has been activated.Refer to “Cancelling the system” on page4-28, “Cancelling the alarm” on page 4-29.

to the system armed mode.1. Put the operation mode in OFF.2. Exit the vehicle and close all of the doors,tailgate and bonnet.
3. Press the LOCK switch (A) on the remotecontrol switch of the keyless operationkey, the driver’s or front passenger’s doorlock/unlock switch (B), or the tailgateLOCK switch (C) in order to lock all thedoors and the tailgate.
Alarm activation

NOTE
zThe alarm will resume if unlawful actionsare taken again, even if the alarm hasstopped.
System cancellation

NOTE
zWhen lending the vehicle to another personor allowing the vehicle to be driven by some-one who is unfamiliar with the security alarmsystem, be sure to give the person a properexplanation of the se
curity alarm system.
If a person who is unfamiliar with the secu-rity alarm system accidentally unlocked thevehicle, causing the alarm to sound, thealarm would be a nuisance to people nearby.

It is possible to halt the activation of an alarmusing the following methods:zPressing the LOCK or UNLOCK switchon the remote control switch.(After pressing of the LOCK switch, thevehicle will lock if all the doors and thetailgate are closed, after which the systempreparation mode will once again go intoeffect.)zPutting the operation mode in ON.zHolding the keyless operation key andlocking or unlocking the doors and thetailgate using the keyless operation func-tion.

Cancelling the alarm

NOTE
zWhen the ignition switch is turned to the“ON” position or the operation mode is putin ON, the buzzer sounds 4 times. This oper-ation indicates that the alarm was activatedwhile the vehicle was parked.Please check the inside of the vehicle to con-firm that nothi
ng was stolen.
zEven if the battery is disconnected, the alarmactivation memory will not be erased.

zSince the demister requires a significantamount of power, stop the demister as soonas the window is demi
sted. Using it for a
long time may reduce the auxiliary batteryvoltage, making it impossible to start thePlug-in Hybrid EV System.zOn vehicles equipped with heated mirrors,when the rear window demister switch ispressed, the outside rear-view mirrors aredefogged or defrosted. Refer to “Heated mir-ror” on page 7-9.zOn vehicles equipped with the wiper deicer,when the rear window demister switch ispushed, the window glass becomes warmand the wipers become operable. Refer to“Wiper deicer switch” on page 6-53.NOTE
zIt is possible to cha
nge the setting to make
the rear window demister operate automati-cally when ambient
temperature becomes
low while the ready indicator lamp is illumi-nated, even if you do not push the rear win-dow demister switch.It operates automatica
lly only once after put-
ting the operation mode in ON.If you choose this setting, the heated mirrors(if so equipped) and
wiper deicer (if so
equipped) will also operate automatically atthe same time.For further informati
on, we recommend you

Depending on whether the vehicle isequipped with a towbar, you can change thereversing sensor system between the standardmode and the towbar mode. The towbar modechanges the system to exclude the area inwhich the towbar is mounted from the detec-tion areas.The detection areas are within approximately60 cm (A) from the corner sensors, 150 cm(B) from the back sensors, and 60 cm (C) orless from the ground surface, excluding thearea approximately 10 cm (D) from theground surface.
The detection areas are within approximately60 cm (A) from the corner sensors, 150 cm(B) from the back sensors, and 60 cm (C) orless from the ground surface, excluding thearea approximately 10 cm (D) from theground surface. The non-detection areas (E)are within approximately 20 cm (F) from thebumper.

Ifthe height of an object is lower than themounted position of the corner or back sen-sors, the sensors may not continue detectingit even if they detected it initially.CAUTIONzThe reversing sensor
system may not operate
properly under the following conditions:•The sensors or surroundings are coveredwith ice, snow, or mud.•The sensors are frozen.•The system receives ultrasonic noise fromother sources (the horns
of other vehicles,
motorcycle engines, brakes, radios, pouringrain, splashing water,
snow traction device
(tyre chains), etc.).•The sensors are extremely hot or cold(while the vehicle is parked for a longperiod of time under a blazing sun or incold weather).
